Finished 13th the year he was fired. 5 of 7 years finish 10th or worse.

But my question is how did Fred win at ISU and 2 of the years were without otzelberger on bench so he may have been a part of it but not the whole reason?

Alright, I really like the potential of that lineup. Reminds me of the Clippers.

Point guard (Pat Beverly/Trey McGowens) - Great perimeter defender. Will bring the ball up the court and initiate the offense, but the offense usually doesn't run through him. But, you can't just leave him open, because he shoots the three at a good clip.

Two long, athletic, versatile shot creators who can play multiple positions and can score on all three levels (Kawhi Leonard and Paul George/Bryce McGowens and Keon Edwards).

Another wing (Nic Batum/CJ Wilcher) - Very good three point shooter who will stretch the floor and give more space for the creators to go to work. Is also a threat to get to the rim off the dribble if the defense closes out too hard on the kickout.

Center (Ivica Zubac/Derrick Walker) - Enforcer type on defense, good pick n roll guy on offense. Team player.

If he's told Teddy that, then I would hope he's told Shamiel to stop going 1 on 3 because that doesn't end well either.

I thought all in all Teddy played pretty well for us during an insanely difficult season.  I hope he graduates and makes some Euro loot.  His game should work well there.

We knew there'd be some drama with him but it was kept pretty minimal.  I'm happy with his time here, and I think he would've had a very difficult time putting up numbers next year with Bryce in the lineup.  A whole lot of those iso attempts are gonna go the freshman's way next season.

Referring specifically to Saturday, Teddy shoots the 3 in transition and Fred immediately yanks him and never goes back in.  I think you need to live with your best 3 point shooter doing that occasionally.  Shamiel back to back possessions drives and throws up something in traffic and he was back in at the end of the game.  Not having Teddy in at end of game for free throws didn't make sense unless his wrist was hurt more than is being let on which could be or Fred was sending a message to Teddy that has been received.

Hey, if you think a cushy six figure salary for 20 years with a job description of "OVERSEEING BASKETBALL" (until the last two years when it was magically changed) means lifetime job security, then by all means, keep him. And if you don't think he has any impact on wins, losses, hires, recruits, marketing or apparel, then why is he making six figures and on the payroll in the first place?

Not sure if he was the offensive mastermind, but there was definitely a good dynamic between him and Miles.  Both of Miles'  NCAA appearances he was on the bench and I think you could argue the first year at Nebraska was one of Miles best coaching jobs while at Nebraska (winning 15 games while having 3 guys sit out as transfers and only playing 7 scholarship guys all year) also came with Smith on the bench.

Also, Smith has proven to be a very good head coach ( 2 conference titles in 5 years) while MIles has never finished better than 4th in 12 years.

I don't know if Smith would have been able to sort out the dysfunction of the 14-15 team, but had he stayed one more year and they went to the Tourney, everybody is probably viewing Miles a little different with 2 NCAA appearances in 3 years.

No, but do we know for a fact that he won't?  Nobody is a lock to do well here as we've learned the last 100 years.  I'm sure it would be very uncomfortable for him but hard to turn down an opportunity to coach in a major conference.  If Miles is truly his friend, he would be happy and support his decision and rise in the coaching ranks.

Curious why we shouldn't even consider a coach who has been to a final 4 and an elite 8 in the last 4 years and grew up 15 mins from Lincoln?

That is the problem with the Tier system in my opinion.  This is a Tier 3 game for Nebraska and a Tier 1 game for PSU.  If Nebraska beats PSU, the only way PSU could get into the top 75 in the RPI according to RPI forecast is by getting to the semi finals of the B1G tourney.

So really beating Penn State won't doing anything on paper for Nebraska's resume because it will just be a Tier 3 win.
