kldm: I was not implying that a new coach couldn't be successful with Miles' present roster or that the players would not try just as hard for a different coach. What seems likely to me is that a new system and different coaches from the ones who recruit the players who sign expecting to play under the those coaches would make it less likely that the same number of games would be won the first year of the new regime. My post , simply stated, was that it would be less likely a bubble team like NU would be invited to the NCAA tourney and win a game there. But you have a right to say you don't think that will happen with Miles anyway and I understand that position.

Seems to me that getting a new coach next year would preclude any optimism about winning a tournament game next year and commit the program to another 4 or 5 years of "rebuilding" until the new coach gets his own recruits in place. However, those who post here, including myself, often have a skewed viewpoint since we are not the typical NU basketball fans. This was brought home to me the other night when I had dinner with some fair weather fans who had attended the Mich State game(one of whom had never been to the Pinnacle before). The main dinner topics of the night among the men consisted of comments about football recruiting, golf, and how rude it was to see the crowd at the arena try to spoil the introduction of the opposing team and how badly it reflected on the state. But at least I did find out that Freddy Couples has one of the sweetest swings in golf.

Injuries are like the weather, hard to predict that far in advance and will make a significant difference for some unlucky team. Nevertheless we seem to have enough returning talent to finally get a victory in the NCAA tourney if everyone stays healthy. And this year may yet hold a few surprises.

About time Izzo starts taking us seriously. Sure made it a boring game though. But it did give Frashilla a chance to reminisce about his two week career as an NU coach. He did share that Danny was quite unhappy with him but did not say exactly what Nee said. He probably thought it would crash the telecast and melt everyone's tvs.

And Misty's now has three locations in Lincoln: 1. Havelock (original) 2. Downtown at 11th and P (I think the one pictured) 3. 40th and Old Cheney.
