  1. Northwestern looked worn down by game's end. Let's hope it carries over through Wednesday.
  2. I don't remember crying in 2004 when the Red Sox finally won after my 50th year of waiting. But after taking congratulatory phone calls from friends and family, I took a long solitary walk down my driveway, thinking about all the time and angst I had expended waiting for a moment which I never thought I would see. I felt something had fundamentally changed in my world view. A lunar eclipse served as the backdrop for my pensive mood. I think a Husker NCAA win might evoke a similar feeling, although there would be another game to worry about. For excellent descriptions of the sensations felt by fans, I recommend the book, "Win it for" by members of the Sons of Sam Horn website.
  3. Careful, it seems like every time we start obsessing about our ranking and making the NCAA field, we end up laying an egg.
  4. I hope Keisei sees Strick's videos but I'm sure someone who has probably taken a jillion three-point shots during his 22 years can probably figure this out himself. I still anticipate a 6 or 7 make game for him this year. Meanwhile keep taking it to the basket as much as possible.
  5. A long and pleasant read this morning. Special kudos to Cip for nonstop sunshine pumping.
  6. Team gave him a birthday present.
  7. Purdue's monstrous centers make the referees' jobs very difficult. As I recall, one of them, Isaac Haas I think, was put out of the NCAA's as a senior when he was pulled to the ground after an opposing center hooked his arm and he broke his elbow. The height and bulk of the players cause them to be expected to absorb more punishment than a "normal "sized guy and opposing players can usually get away with more against them. Actually, it sort of worked for Northwestern last night when Edey couldn't hit his free throws. Just look at the punishment Mast is supposed to absorb and he isn't even that huge.
  8. Why is he smirking? I don't speak emoji, so I may be misinterpreting.

  10. The place where I graduated. Guess I should have paid more attention then. The capacity will be 40,000 according to reports. The old alma mater likes to think big.Kansas football: Demolition at 'The Booth' is progressing. The changes are stunning (throughthephog.com)
  11. Sort of sad news. R.I.P. to the Pecks and condolences to the family. Probably won't have to worry about any obscene cheering where they are now.
  12. NU 75 UW 73 We need it more and need to break even in February, so let's start here.
  13. The first time I saw the Terps play, Gary Williams was their......point guard.
  14. I'll defer until this season ends, and this should assume that none of the injuries happen. Nice topic to ponder, however.
  15. And let's all try to remember, our opponents put their pants on one leg at a time too. And the battles will be won in the trenches (oops, wrong sport).
  16. I don't like our matchups against them, so I'll wait to see how they do against Iowa tonight before predicting.
  17. Watching the game today, it seemed to be much less stressful than listening to it sporadically last night. We were obviously the better team and they seemed to have no defensive clue as to how to stop us. The turning point to me was in the first half when we fouled a three-point shooter and he managed to miss all three free throws, then we hit a three-point shot. Kudos to C.J. and Mast, but it was a total team victory.
  18. Wake Forest is scheduled to be on ESPN against North Carolina at 6 tonight.
  19. NU 76 The OSU 69, 17 assists. I've been awaiting this LFP (Last F-ing Peacock) game all year.
  20. Nice to see coach Hoiberg's photo as a player next to Johnny Orr as coach in the Iowa State opponent summary.
