I guess I am of the minority but I was not overly impressed. If I had to pick between Andre Sands and him I would pick Sands. They are built the same but I see Sands as being more aggressive. I believe Sands plays on a superior team and has better guards to get him the ball. Sands is a better scorer also. Sunrise just won their 24th straight game and play Monday night again. They beat a team from Tulsa Ok. 106-62. Andre had 9 points again playing only half the game. Maybe I should not make a judgement from watching a single video but I personally believe Sands is the better player. I was the one that brought up Buddy Hield and thought Nebraska should go after him. Andre plays on the same Sunrise team that Buddy did. He turned out pretty well. Sands is a different kind of player than Buddy but for what Nebraska needs I believe he would meet the need. He runs the floor well, rebounds, and plays good defense. He is a smart kid as well. I also noticed he is a good leader. He takes it upon himself to communicate with his team mates. I talked to him before the game and was very impressed by the young man. His coach told me that Andre is very coachable and wants to get better in all aspects of the game. I wish Coach Miles would come down and watch this Sunrise team. There are so many players that are athletic. Mississippi has found out about Sunrise and has two of the starters signed up for next year and look what Mississippi is doing this year. They must know something about the sport. -

I just returned from watching Sunrise defeat an academy from Dallas Texas 76-55. Andre Sands had 11 points which is quite good considering all ten players play equally and thus play only half of the game. Andre does play above the rim, plays good defense and is a great rebounder. He has a basketball body, well built. He would compliment what we already have coming in next year. There are a number of other players for Sunrise that I didn't even mention yesterday. Daniel Nwosu a senior point guard at 6' had 14 3's in two games eight yesterday and 6 today. Jacob Hammond is a 6'10 post man that Oklahoma is looking at. He is a junior and for the future they have a cat quick point guard who is only a freshman named Roman Young. As far as schools after Sands, Kyle Linsted, told me both South Carolina and Nebraska were looking at him. Kyle is the Sunrise coach. I talked to him for about 30 minutes between games. I got to know him when my grandson played for him several years ago. They are a fun team to watch, tremendous athletes from top to bottom. In my opinion there are no Nebraska high school teams including Omaha Central that could compete against their size and athletism. Coach told me they will be playing in a tournament out East and may get to play Monteverde Academy rated number 1. I would love to see that game. Sunrise has not really been exposed since it comes from a small suberb of Wichita, Bel Aire. Adidas supports them with travel, meals, and night lodging, at least that is what I heard. Sunrise is a dinky little school, class D in the state of Nebraska. There were several D1 coaches in attendance. It is not that far to drive to watch them play. Next home game is Feb. 4 against an academy from Oklahoma. Sunrise roster: Roman Young Fr. 5'8" Sebastian Saiz Sr. 6'9" Signed with Mississippi Nathan Bain Soph. 6'6" Lourawis "Tum Tum" Nairn 5'10" 4 star being looked at by Kansas and others. Travis Munnings Jr. 6'6" Marvin Clark Jr. 6'7" Jacob Hammond Jr. 6'10" being looked at by Oklahoma Andre Sands Sr. 6'8" being looked at by South Carolina and recently Nebraska Janari Joesaar Sr. 6'7" Signed with Mississippi Larry Dennis Jr. 6'9" Transfer from Wichita East

Since moving to Wichita, I have been able to watch Sunrise Christian Academy play. They currently are 22-0 and rated the 8th best prep school in the country. Tonight I watched them play Henry Ford Academy out of Chicago. They had the leading scorer in the nation for Prep Academies. His name was Elliott Cole. He was averaging 35.4 per game. He got 32 tonight but had a very poor percentage. The team only scored 50 points. Sunrise got 107. I talked to the Sunrise coach after the game and he said some interesting things. He said Buddy Hield, who went to Oklahoma, and is doing very well as a freshman probably would have come to Nebraska if it hadn't been that he felt Doc would be fired and he had no idea at that time who would be Nebraska's coach. Coach also said Andre Sands a 6'8" senior is considering Nebraska and South Carolina. Andre had 14 points tonight playing no more than half the game. He is a force underneath the basket with some very good moves. He rebounds well and runs the floor well. I am not sure what range he has as his baskets came near the basket or were slams. They have a junior transfer from Wichita East, Larry Dennis who will be division 1 and a sophomore named Nathan Bain. Larry is 6'9" and Nathan is 6'6" with good range from outside and both are very athletic. I guess Miles has seen them play or at least an assistant. They also have a point guard who is as quick as a cat that Kansas is looking at. He also is a junior by the name of Tum Tum Nairn. They are all receiving looks by Division 1 coaches. I have not seen Atewe play but Sands could really help rebounding and will score under the basket and is a pretty good defensive player as well. They play a team out of Texas tomorrow at 4 so will get to see them all again.
