  1. Terry is one of the most thoughtful and profound people I have met. Not sure how many of you are aware that Terry was instrumental in getting Tim Miles to Nebraska from Colorado State.
  2. While I think it's a long shot, you should be aware that Tim and Terry are pretty close. It's doubtful that Tim would have gotten the Nebraska job without Terry's help.
  3. Tim Miles is 6-5 lifetime vs former MWC foe TCU. Look for him to go 7-5.
  4. Hoiberg was replaced in Chicago by Jim Boylen. While at Colorado State, Tim Miles won his last 4 games against Boylen's Utah Utes. Another useless tidbit.
  5. Wyoming is a perfect team to schedule in one of these scrimmages Larry Shyatt is a great coach whose teams always achieve beyond their talent level. They do it with a very structured offense that forces you to defend for a full shot clock. They don't hit the offensive boards very hard because they are more interested in limiting transition offense opportunities and getting people back defensively on misses. They are a very disciplined defense that does a good job of defending the 3-point line and the rim. They force you into pull-ups and runners. They will rarely wow you (other than the occasional athletic dunk) and their pace can be numbing. They are relentless and disciplined in running their stuff Wyoming is very young and inexperienced this year. They're picked to finish 8th in the Mountain West. Any MWC fan knows that Shyatt will have his team finish higher. I once said to a former MWC coach that if Shyatt had UNLV's talent he'd win the MWC every year. That coach responded "No sh!t."
  6. The segment about how No Sit Sunday evolved was vintage Miles.
  7. I actually think it was a great question. And that's because it led to an answer that really gives tremendous insight into what makes Tim Miles so good at building college basketball programs.
  8. An MWC match-up between Miles and Steve Alford. They know each other well. And I don't think they're friends. That would be awesome!
  9. I think Nebraska is locked in at no worse than an 11 and can move to a 10 with a win over Ohio State in the Big 10 Tournament. It's a crapshoot to guess how high they might rise if they win a semi or championship game.
  10. Webster and Biggs had really high turnover rates. Have you noticed how well Nebraska does when they don't turn the ball over? And how Parker makes better decisions with the ball. That's your answer
  11. Those of us back here knew you were getting a very special coach in Tim Miles. I think we're all amazed at what he has accomplished in so little time. A lot of us still stay in touch with Tim and are closely following your team as a result. We waited until Tim's 5th year at CSU to go dancing. You only had to wait two years. But you know what's cool? The best is yet to come. Enjoy the ride!
  12. You should be watching Colorado State to get a feel for what to expect at Nebraska in the next few years. Smart, unselfish players who prioritize making winning plays over making spectacular plays. Miles and staff will recruit bigger and more athletic versions of guys like Wes Eikmeier and Greg Smith. There's a kid at CSU named Pierce Hornung who is 6'5" and 210 lbs. And one of the top rebounders in the country. He is a Colorado kid who was asked this morning on a local show about a quote by ESPN's Andy Katz that CSU doesn't play wow basketball. Hornung responded "I don't know what wow basketball is. I only know what winning basketball is." Thats what its all about with Miles and staff.
  13. Husker fans should be getting their season tickets next year in anticipation of Creighton visiting in 2014. In Coach Miles first season at Colorado State, he lost at home to rival Colorado with a team that wasn't much unlike what Nebraska has this season. In his third year at CSU, Miles beat a Colorado team with two NBA players by something like 77-60. He takes rivalry games very seriously.
  14. NIT? If Tim Miles gets this team into the NIT he should be voted National Coach of the Year. Four wins in the Big 10 would be a monumental achievement for this squad.
  15. I had the opportunity to watch the majority of the game on TV last night. I had seen USC play against Texas and San Diego State, both very solid defensive teams. Nebraska did a much better job of disrupting the flow of the USC offense in the half court last night than those teams did. The coach, his staff, and the players deserve a lot of credit for the great team defense they played over 40 minutes. I think the team grew a lot last night, especially in the second half, with the patience and intelligence they played with.
