  1. Certainly weren't going to see Gohlke in a two-point shooting... anything.
  2. I love you Fred, but that sucked. Only good thing out of that game was giving up 98 points and not 100. There's always next year.
  3. Not an expert in NIL, but I'd almost imagine the dynamic is: Team: "We have 500 units to spend across 5 starters; we have 10 units each for bench players" Role player: "I want 100 units to stay" Team: "We don't have the budget for that" Role player: "I'm going somewhere who will promise me 100 units"
  4. Based on what I'm seeing from last year, 271 teams had signed 1+ transfers in 2022-2023. Of the team's who signed at least one transfer, the average amount of players they signed was 4.9. I haven't found a solid data source of how many LEAVE for these types of schools, but the inverse can be helpful as well. I'd imagine those numbers will be higher this season. I also read somewhere that 33% of NCAA basketball players end up transferring at some point in their careers. That stat isn't overly helpful as there could be repeat offenders, but also helpful context. This isn't Uncle Naismith's basketball anymore...
  5. Instead of going after two 6'5" guys, we should just go after one 12'10" guy. It's simple math.
  6. I don't know that anything ever goes as planned between seasons. But what's more important to me is what you do with it. Fred likely needs a bit of time to work with this. But it's also possible that Fred expected this and has been working some angles behind the scenes.
  7. Take some NyQuil. Get some rest. The puzzle pieces will start to come together with the open spots we have to work with.
  8. Some schools use this as a competitive advantage. If the value prop or the price is right, they'll go anywhere. Even cold "historyless" schools they never would have gone to pre-NIL.
  9. Might also add to my previous point I just made... The portal also gives teams the ability to change over a roster much quicker than a 3-4 year cycle of players. So in the past if you have a couple bad recruiting seasons, you're impacted for 6+ years. The portal helps to pivot quickly. But that also means you have to either pay up or have a value proposition that works for good players. Because, as we know, there's also a large amount of bad players in the transfer portal.
  10. One of the best parts is seeing some of the mid-major kids able to jump up to some Power 5 programs. But the tradeoff is fluidity in rosters year-over-year. I'd imagine this will be one of the reasons Tom Izzo finally packs up and plays golf with Nick Saban.
  11. Likely going to be Kara Lawson.
  12. I'm not sure what all goes into this, but I did catch an interesting part of DJ Horne's postgame interview. He said something about how his team started showing up on time, stop playing selfish, etc. So although there's probably much more depth to that, I'm getting the feeling there was some team dynamics / locker room issues throughout the season. Seems they put that in the past.
  13. ACC, Big East, Big Ten, and SEC all represented in the Final Four this year. No Big 12 or Pac-2.
  14. Tennessee is having worse scoring droughts than we do, and yet they're only down 1 point.
  15. Probably a standard Stanford thing...
  16. They have to upgrade to the latest version of their eBays before they can use that functionality.
  17. What's great about watching this Clemson team is that Alabama keeps punching them in the mouth with electric three-point shooting at this stage of the game, yet Clemson doesn't really seem phased about it. Still working their progressions, trying to get that beat shot. Rather than just throwing up prayers to try to cut the lead. That's an attitude and skill that can keep you in some games. We'll see if it's enough to overtake Alabama in this one though.
  18. FWIW, this is the initial reaction from Kim before the article was even published (spending two press conferences about it):
  19. Had this as a topic within an NCAA thread, but seems to be worth its own thread in the WBB section. Here's the article that The Washington Post just released on Kim Mulkey: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/03/30/kim-mulkey-lsu-griner-reese/
  20. On a similar but different NCAA tournament topic. Here's the article from The Washington Post that came out about Kim Mulkey: https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2024/03/30/kim-mulkey-lsu-griner-reese/
