After a foul shot is declined,  reset the clock to 20 Sec.  That would stop fouling.

It’s not a 3v3 tournament. It’s the Olympic Games held in his home country. I’m an epl fan and my favorites club is losing players to the olympics as well, which is unfortunate for the club and fans like me but a no brainer for the players. You have a chance to represent your country in one of the biggest sporting events in the world that only takes place every four years and you think he should turn it down to get to preseason work outs in Lincoln?

There will be several new players who need to learn Fred's system.  Maybe the new players will be better than Thor after they learn the system, but who better to teach them.  Coaches can say, "Watch Thor, and learn".  He can be a players coach.

This. I actually think the coaches will continue to do this long after Thor is gone, by showing players his film. Jay Wright constantly tells his guards and wings to "Be Josh Hart" and makes them watch his film. Imagine if we can get a super-talented kid like Bryce to play as smart and selfless and relentlessly move without the ball like Thor.

6’6”, skilled, athletic, long, and an elite shooter.  He’s a prototype NBA shooting guard.  He doesn’t need to play within a system to score as he’s comfortable pulling up from anywhere outside of the 3pt line and scoring one on one.  He can be effective as a combo guard for sure.  I’m guessing he’ll play off the ball primarily and help at point.  If you’re talking Banton/Allen, he’s basically both.
    Andrew White + ballhandling skillset

After watching his highlights, I was thinking Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics.

You're looking at it the wrong way.

College recruits base a large part of their decisions based on their recruiter/position coach. Basketball players probably base 70% of their decisions on that alone - if not more. As they care less about location, academics and atmosphere as they don't plan on being there as long as football players do.

And while recruits generally don't look at a coaches contract when making their decisions, those assistant coaches absolutely do.

College basketball assistants for some reason seem to be way more sensitive to how many years their boss has on his contract than football assistants do, are quicker to bail on an iffy contract situation and college basketball players are far more likely to bail with them.

Miles' contract situation 100% cost us Kenya Hunter and losing Hunter lost us at minimum 2-3 recruits who would have been actual depth last season.(including Xavier Johnson who looks like he's going to be a star) And losing Hunter is a big reason Allen decided to transfer (and in part Tshmanga last july).

It's a pretty simple chain reaction for any program that doesn't reload purely off the name on the front of the jersey:

When there isn't security for the head coach the top recruiter leaves.
When the recruiter leaves the recruits leave.
When the recruits leave the roster is weak and the coach gets fired.

Look at what just happened to St. John's when we hired Abdelmessih.  The same thing happened here when we lost Hunter, it just took longer because we had 4 upperclassmen who we stuck with for the year hoping for a lot of luck, but the contract issue created the chain reaction that crippled our depth and led to the same outcome - a weak roster and a fired coach.

We have a new coach, a new system and a number of players coming in that are being brought in because they fit that style.  Is that correct?  If true, if that new coach identifies a player or players that likely do not fit that new system, isn't it fair and reasonable to have a discussion with that player or players advising them of that observation.  As a player, I likely would not like to hear that observation, it is only natural.  But wouldn't it be better to hear that information now, and then a decision can be made to stay or go?

My current take is that conversation likely took place with Brady, Thor and Amir.  The conversation could have been that the new Nebraska system will be fast pace with a premium placed on the three point shot.  Does Brady, Thor and Amir have that three-point game?  Amir and Thor may have taken that critique and said they want to stick it out and prove they can adapt.  Brady may have taken the critique as I want you out of here and is leaving.

Sure, there may have been more texture to the discussions or the discussions may have been entirely different.  But I am not about to critique a new staff for wanting their players.  Coaches, especially today, must prove themselves sooner rather than later, and to have to wait a year or two before you have "your own" players can create fan bases and administrators to become fractured; which seems to be a familiar theme here.

The point I was making was that as soon as the 1 year extensions started, it supported the perception that Miles was on the hot seat and would not be around much longer.  That does not help recruiting.  I don't think that should be interpreted as he can't recruit, but rather it is hard to recruit when you are in a lame duck situation.

Two years ago Miles received a 1 year extension.  The one year extension was announced and Coach Hunter left shortly thereafter.  People on this board even commented that Hunter could see the writing on the wall and left.  Xavior Johnson soon decommitted.  That's when recruiting dropped off.

Share an opinion, please. And in all honesty, your NIT statement was written in such a vague manner that I couldn't even tell whether you were talking about Miles or Allen. So it was an actual question not a slam on your opinion. I admit I might be the obtuse one concerning that particular topic.

But you are talking about hypotheticals as if they were fact. And maybe you did and do have inside information. I take the basketball department's word when they say he wasn't healthy enough to play. I do know high ankle sprains can take longer than broken bones to heal. And the "something about the way he handles business must make guys to leave" comment is also a slam whether you start with "I like Tim" or not. If it is something about the way he handles business then it is a reflection on Tim both as a person and a coach. I Googled "college basketball transfers" and the number I got was more than 475 players have transferred since the start of this season. That doesn't sound like a Tim Miles thing to me. You say "I like Tim" then go with the "rather sad" comment. You use conjecture and hypotheticals as if they are facts as grounds to insult Tim Miles and then get defensive when I called you on it. Implying that I said you weren't allowed to express an opinion is the definition of a strawman argument. I never said you shouldn't hold that opinion but stop playing the victim and own it. My opinion is the man is gone, stop kicking. I am rooting for Nebraska basketball whoever is sitting on the bench.

If Miles was going to be retained, Moos would have said so in his announcement 45 minutes after our B1G tourney loss to Wisconsin.

Maybe Moos needs to negotiate the contract with Miles before it is announced.
