  1. This one is a gut punch. - I thought all things considered, NU played about as well as it could have in the first half. - Things fell apart in the second. For whatever reason OSU was able to get to the rim at will. - I thought NU's in experience vs. OSU's more veteran lineup was significant down the stretch. - NU just played really soft in the second half. It was puzzling. - I have no idea why Jack was guarding Tate there in the middle of the second half. I don't think I've ever seen someone call for the ball as emphatically as he did there. - I didn't have a good angle on the play where OSU scored. What happened there? - What the heck happened to our free throw shooting? - Glynn was off a bit. Hope he gets back on again soon. - Someone go lay hands on Ed, please. - Nice to see Copeland is in the fray. I don't know what else, I really felt like OSU was the tougher team tonight. That was supposed to be NU's identity. I know Ed was a big part of that, but need to find a way to capture it again without him. Gotta find a way to get back on the wagon vs. Rutgers. That's gonna be a mental game, I think. If NU can get past this one, I think they'll be fine. If it lingers, it could be a tough road.
  2. I laughed at the description of Jacobson's hair...
  3. Man, this game was get-able... - The loss of Ed was evident almost immediately. - I thought NU battled pretty well most of the game, just couldn't get the stop when they needed them. - The defense was disappointing. Michigan is a really good offensive team, but they got a lot of open looks and did what they do. - Tai was a force of nature. He has become the kind of player that it seems like only other teams have. - That said, it seems like a lot of times when Tai drives refs don't call fouls to the degree that they should. This is frustrating. - Glynn was better today than he was on Sunday, but he was missing in the first half. Might have been a different game if he could have found some flow early. - Jacobson battles on the boards but he's a little overmatched offensively inside. - Saw some really nice things from Jordy. Thought we'd have seen more of him in the 2nd half. - The emergence of Evan Taylor offensively is a nice little bonus. Hope that continues. - Didn't see much of Horne in the 2nd either. - Looks like Jack has found his shot somewhat. - I don't have much to say about Roby. - I guess it just comes down to NU not quite being able to replace the energy and toughness of Ed. - The next two games are crucial. Gotta have 'em both. Things get more difficult after that.
  4. Well...a couple of them start right now...and I think will continue to start next year, fwiw...
  5. The best thing about all of this is that we're going to have a lot of competition for minutes. Guys aren't going to have to play based on necessity (knock on wood), every minute will be earned.
  6. That's a really mold-able frame. There's room for a lot of growth when a college weight program gets to work with him. Gonna be a broad shouldered player in about 3 years.
  7. We all had the lineup pegged going into the season and it hasn't really looked like that at all.
  8. They said it about Petteway and YKHIII, too.
  9. Yep, we've got a 2 1/2 year window. It *should* be a lot of fun. If they can sneak in this year and build on it next year, they should have no problem back filling that crowded sophomore class. The rest of this year and next year are huge for the direction of the program.
  10. Competition is a good thing. Minutes will be earned.
  11. I think this fills NU up for next year barring anybody transferring out. I do think we see one transfer, but still, this is the closest we've been to full under Miles... There's gonna be some nice competition for minutes next year.
  12. I overheard someone leaving the arena say "bummer! 4-0 would have been so fun!" That about sums up my thoughts. 3-1 is still a heckuva start. We're still in first place. And we'll get another shot at Northwestern in a couple of weeks. - Glynn was off a tick today. Might be as simple as that. - Thought it was big for Evan to have some success offenively after the Iowa game. Most of those were bonus points. - Also good to see Jack hit a couple from outside. Interesting that he got the call in the second half and Jeriah didn't get on the floor. - If I ever start doubting Tai, you have permission to slap me. - Thought Jacobson was a bit short on his shot all day, too. But he was pretty solid otherwise. - It's really hard for me to get too worked up over this game. I thought NU did a lot of what it needed to do today to win, Northwestern just did more. We were never going undefeated through conference play and, need I remind you that the Wildcats were the favorites. - Glad to see Roby out there. Didn't seem to be suffering too many ill effects. - Nothing's really changed for NU after today as long as they don't get too down on themselves and continue to work their tails off. They'll be just fine. - Overall, I'm still very encouraged. Here's to getting rested up and pissed of and taking out on some Wolverines on Saturday.
  13. True, but if he has to miss a game to get healthy, then I'd rather him just miss one or two rather than have it linger and open up the risk of missing a lot more. Or maybe they just role with something close to a 7 man rotation for a game or two.
  14. Which is what most were saying. Except for Clouse, who thought we were gonna get Holmes, too. Everyone was surprised by the last minute Calvin switch.
  15. One thing I noticed is that this team is rebounding fiercely. They will fight you for a board. There aren't any passive rebounding attempts.
  16. - Three games in, three attempts from 3 that aren't from Webster, Watson or Horne. NU currently the best 3 point shooting team since conference play began. - Best back court since Lue-Belcher? - This was one of the best games I've ever atteneded. At least the most entertaining. Doesn't need to be a perfect game and this wasn't, but it was as good a game as I've ever seen. The moment and environment were bigger in 2014 vs. Wisconsin, but this game was better. - That may not have been a heavy-weight fight but it was at least a welterweight match. - Glynn and Webster were as good as I've ever seen. Glynn's best offensive game, solid on defense. Webster's work in overtime with 4 fouls on Jok was a masterpiece. - Curious to see ho bad the hip is for Roby. - Surprised Ed sat so much in the 2nd half. Jordy didn't play a ton either. Probably could have used a few more minutes from both of 'em. - This was as big of a win for the program as either of the two road wins. Just a big time win for the program. Super pumped for how hard they fought. They had to overcome a bunch of physical, emotional, psychological, metaphysical things to win this. Just phenomenal stuff. - Thanks, @hhcdimes for filling in for me last night. - @Norm Peterson, I screen grabbed your post. It's popular on the Twitter right now...
  17. Rather than a forum, what about just a ticket exchange thread?
  18. There are many, many times that tickets are well below face.
  19. NU and Miles doing well and requiring an extension after this season would be the best case scenario for Eichorst. And it won't be *that* much more expensive.
  20. Well, this is a timely bump, huh Shawn? Posted two minutes before yours.
