  1. I think it's just the fact that a lot of big ten teams are going through quite a bit of turnover and a lot of them play very tough non conference schedules. It's hard to say it's "down," but it's certainly not as strong as last year (last year was an incredible year for the big 10 though).
  2. Booze can be sold/consumed on campus pending a waiver and hiring a 3rd party vendor to serve. There are multiple "wet" events at the Wick Alumni Center every year, which is most definitely on campus.
  3. Maybe 5-10 years ago, but that's not really the case anymore because the university cracked down on it. Any boozing that occurs in the suites anymore is really no different than the boozing that occurs around the rest of the stadium i.e sneaking a flask/shooters into the stadium
  4. i've also heard that beer will be sold next year. as for a "snowball effect," as others have said the only other sport that even has the option to sell booze is baseball. Every other venue (Devaney, Memorial Stadium, etc.) is university owned while UNL is a tenant at PBA and Haymarket Park. I don't believe the venue being on or off campus has anything to do with it, though.
  5. well that's good, hopefully he catches on quickly. It would give us some unexpected size in the post next year
  6. Not sure- i really don't believe that the jersey color has an impact on W/L record I do know for a fact, however, that we've lost a lot of games wearing red and/or white, too.
  7. Didn't we wear black as our standard road jerseys in the late 90s?
  8. Love the idea, but like you wasn't a huge fan of the design. I really hope they don't scrap it because we lost.
  9. I imagine rivers will get quite a few minutes against Creighton and in conference play. Miami was tall, but not exactly big or physical so we were fortunately able to avoid foul trouble
  10. Think there could be something to the thought that he gets nervous (or whatever) shooting FTs in front of 10k people. He went 12/15 from the stripe in Charleston (obviously a very small gym), compared to his current 15/33 in Lincoln.
  11. yea, the baseball class is 100% locked up
  12. It's way too early to tell, but if I had to make a pick right now I would say it was a success. I'm basing this on our performance Sunday vs Thurs/Fri. We looked like a different team on Sunday- giving effort on both ends of the court, sharing the ball, Tai letting the game come to him rather than trying to force things, etc. I obviously would've liked us to win more games than we lost in Charleston, but I think it was a great wake up call for our team, i.e. you aren't good enough to just out score teams, you're going to have to play solid basketball within the system offensively and defensively. We also learned a lot about Leslee Smith and the leadership/dedication to winning he brings to the team.
  13. Lazy. Looks like the players would rather be somewhere else. Sad.
  14. We look lazy. Kind of embarrassing, to be honest.
  15. Like you said, it's hard to complain about Petteway after a 28 point performance......but he has filled the role that Talley and Gallegos assumed last year, but this year's team doesn't need someone to take that role. We have enough offensive weapons, no need to force shots. I really hope he can learn to be more efficient because he's incredibly talented.
  16. I like the smoke. When you walk into the lower area of the arena from the concourse, the smoke looks pretty damn cool.
  17. Damn. I doubt either of these guys would be starting, but it would definitely be nice to have them come off the bench.
  18. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/61993/keith-coleman Wasn't he committed at one point, too?
  19. Rivers is going to have to adapt to the new defensive rules before he can truly compete to start when we're healthy, unfortunately. I love his physical style of play but it's tough to get away with that now.
  20. Guessing we'll go with the same 5 that we did against UNK. Webster/Shields/Petteway/Smith/Pitchford Personally I think we'd be better off putting Pitchford at the 3, Petteway at 4, and Smith at 5.
  21. Is this the type of game fans will want to see though? Absolutely. The point of this is to open up the game and increase scoring. There will be an adjustment period, but long term this needed to happen to college basketball
  22. They did that a couple times last season. Not sure why they stopped.
  23. I agree. If for some odd reason the players and students are pro-Bon Jovi/Nebrasketball Experience then by all means use it.. I would venture to guess they'd be in favor of something a little more age appropriate for them, though.
  24. It's horrid. No (ok, very very very few) 18-22 year old D1 college basketball players want to come onto the court to a Bon Jovi entrance song/video. Moreover, this is our chance to make Nebraska Basketball and the atmosphere associated with it legitimate, "cool," etc. and playing Bon Jovi for our entrance is nearly as bad as it gets. Very "cringe worthy." I'm sure some of you will completely disagree with me and don't think an entrance video matters, but as a 25 year old semi-recent college grad I can tell you with certainty that it does matter to a lot of people my age, most notably the student section (and the team feeding off the energy of the student section). The Bon Jovi/Nebraska basketball experiment needs to be ended ASAP.
  25. Seriously, please e-mail Boehm about scrapping that video. We can't continue to use that and then tell people we are taking basketball seriously at Nebraska with a straight face.
