  1. A player told me last weekend that Tarin has surprised everyone, in a great way. Pretty excited for him.
  2. right.. Short term memories in this thread, Walt was huge for us down the stretch.
  3. I would be disappointed but not shocked. The run we had to make to get into the dance last year was pretty incredible and you have to think some luck was involved.
  4. Unfortunatly I think you are correct. Eventually we will start beating out some of these schools but when UNLV comes calling it's hard to turn them down. Why? Because it's a big city with casinos? Lots of recruits turn them down every year. What's so special about UNLV that you think we can't compete with them? I mean, if you had said, " ... but when Duke comes calling it's hard to turn them down" I could understand it. But UNLV? What's so special about them? The slot machines? The hookers? What? Because they currently are and historically have been a much better basketball program than us. No, they aren't Duke. But I think they're firmly in the "second tier" of household-name college basketball programs, especially since they've risen back to prominence in the last few years. We aren't even close to that, yet.
  5. Cornish would be huge. Smith/Cornish/Hammond (you can add Fuller since he took a RS) is a very strong foundation of freshmen. Add Morrow next year and we're not looking at a huge drop off in our starting 5 when Shields/Petteway/Pitchford are gone, IMO.
  6. these match ups are 1 year deals. We'd be playing @ Miami this season if they were home and homes.Actually our Miami matchup was only a one and done because of the changes to the conferences. Our first two years in the B1G we had a home and home with Wake.I'm pretty sure that was purely a coincidence
  7. these match ups are 1 year deals. We'd be playing @ Miami this season if they were home and homes.
  8. You're selling SMU waaay short. They might be the only program in the nation "on the rise" more than we are.
  9. I respectfully disagree. He has consistently shown that he can recruit the kind of guys he needs to help him turn a program around. Plus he has obviously been able to get those guys to buy into his vision and plan, much like he did here. He did this at previous stops with woefully less than he has to sell here. I seen no reason why TM can't finally start landing those real difference makers that will take this program to level of success it has not seen before. I'm not discrediting Miles at all. There's no doubt in my mind that he has what it takes and knows how to get the guys here that we need. My concern is entirely with Nebraska and if we have what it takes to be a sustainable power in college basketball. Miles is too good of a coach to be shackled in areas he can't control (eg location).
  10. I think we have Miles until Shields/Petteway/Pitchford are gone. We're going to have to hope he gets some really good recruits to commit in the meantime, otherwise he might think he caught lightning in a bottle with those guys and go somewhere that he can actually recruit to.
  11. I love using it on my phone. Much faster and easier to read than the normal mobile site. I think if people gave it a chance they would see the benefits. As for my tablet, I still usually use the normal browser. Sometimes I'll just it just to see the newest posts and then go over to the browser to read them.
  12. So has Tarin signed yet? edit- Just went official.
  13. I agree. It would be nice to have someone that had more production last season, but I don't think Hammond would give us more off the bench than Ayegba next season- Ayegba at least has 2 years of experience playing in a power conference. At the end of the day, this basically just allows us to redshirt Hammond for sure and adds some depth- not sure how much but it can't hurt.
  14. Not sure what the surprise is here.. I don't think Creighton has ever tried or claimed to be Nebraska's team? Most of their own fans will tell you that it's "an Omaha thing."
  15. I'm guessing he'll get his degree this spring and be eligible immediately
  16. That could mean ANYTHING. Not just Terran. We could be "asking" Serj to move on. Somebody could leave....stuff happens. I also think Terran stays. The guy wants to be the man that puts NU on the map and I really believe that. I think he knows with some hard work this team could do very good things next year. I was just commenting on the fact that they called Tarin Smith "Tarin Martin."
  17. "after signing 6-10 Jacob Hammond last fall and getting a spring commitment from 6-2 Tarin Martin — have one scholarship available, with a second possible if there is any attrition." wut
  18. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/51693/dwight-smith This guy? Don't really see how he would help us, at all.
  19. Good to see others in the profession are taking notice. If Miles could pull a coach from Georgetown after year 1, I'm pretty optimistic that he's going to land another stud this year
  20. Isn't Nebraska in the picture on the link? I thought that was them towards the end on the right? Nah, it was Indiana. Hoosiers, but some people thought it was Huskers
  21. Thanks for the info. We are leaving today around 3:30 or 4 and planning on driving about 8-10 hours before calling it a night and finishing tomorrow. Any suggestions on a place to stop for the night?
  22. Really wanted to but plane tix were outrageously expensive and the only flights back to Lincoln or Omaha Sunday were at like 630 and 8am.. Doesn't really line up with the hangover I'd be attempting to sleep off.
  23. Hopefully we wear the jerseys we see in these videos of the 1994 championship run
