  1. A 21 year old Freshman that can score the basketball. I'm struggling to see the downside.
  2. Wingett is an interesting prospect. I like him better than the kid from Springfied, Missouri that we've shown interest in but Rez kids generally don't do well off the Rez esp at major universities. It might be a huge risk for Miles to take him as a "plan A". As far as PG's go, I'm surprised Noah Vedral from Bishop Neumann doesn't get much mention. I know he's football prospect but he is one hell of a PG. That kid could score 30 a game (in an efficient manner) but runs the show for his team flawlessly & scores when needed. He could play any class & play just as effective/efficient.
  3. Assistant coaches move on. Outside of foreign recruiting I don't see this as a major loss. Losing Smith last year was a major loss but that was to be a D-1 head coach so its understandable. We needed a change in the coaching staff this year b/c we had so many deficiencies offensively. Harriman leaving is somewhat of a surprise only b/c of the health issues with his son & the support he's gotten here. He got more $ & a better title, so I don't see this as a sky is falling scenario. I see bench coaching as a major need, hopefully we can fill his spot with a solid mind on the bench. I wouldn't be sad to see Molinardi moving on after next year. The only thing I'd be worried about is McVeigh making it here. Hopefully this doesn't effect his status. We might lose our solid footing with Pinder though.
  4. It was a forgone conclusion that TP5 would leave. Its probably the wisest decision for him if he wants to make a living playing basketball. I would have loved to have him back but knowing we have AWIII, I'm not worried. We might actually be better with a scoring combo of AWIII & Shavon rather than putting TP5 in the mix as well. TP5 has the tendancy to go rogue & try to do to much. If he's on we win but if he has an off night we waste possessions with him forcing things & he starts doing dumb stuff out of frustration. He's a guy isn't good in a complementary role. The more you put the puzzle pieces together with Walt, the more I start to see what a distraction he was on the team. He half assed the entire year & refused to play the role we needed him to fill in order to win. He basically packed in the season & took his ball & went home. With our lack of size we needed him to use his size & athletic ability being a force inside. He couldn't/wouldn't do it & we suffered. There were numerous reports from people outside the program that said we looked like a team "that didn't like each other". Obviously something happened to the "US Always" mentality that we fed on & won with in '13-'14. I think our best 3 players all started butting heads with one another & we turned into a mess. I think we are going to be better with the roster turnover. We need a graduate transfer who can come in & start immediately at the 4 or 5 spot. We also need another ready to go 4 or 5 who can be in the rotation. I wouldn't be surprised if we look at adding a quality JUCO PG as Benny was a liability this year & Watson may or may not be ready to be the starter. I think Watson will be very good but next year can't be a rebuilding year.
  5. Moronic post...The arena is full, interest in basketball has never been higher & he just signed one of the top 3 classes in Nebrasketball history. Yes, we need to be better next year to keep the momentum going. But get real, all schools have down years. Look at Michigan this year. Is Belien getting fired..no. Look at Creighton, is McDermott going anywhere, no..
  6. Thought I had heard that this kid has a brother that plays (or played) at Syracuse (at least according to my sister in law who teaches at Boys Town).
  7. Well that jersey will just go in the old 'bin'. peace & love, peace & love
  8. The UT athletic dept is a dumpster fire. There's a reason why they are burning thru coaches like a pyro burns thru matches. No way Miles would leave for UT. You don't poach a HC from another D-1 university just to leave to go to another program this late in the game. He's building something here, he isn't going to leave for an unstable situation. Esp when the entire UT fanbase wants Pearl back (& that's after UT had a deep NCAA run)
  9. I for one wouldn't be shocked if Covington followed him here. Nebraska did have contact with him during his Sr Year of HS (along with many other Big10 teams).
  10. No surprise ISU is on the final list esp considering his parents live in Iowa. But when it comes to transfers what does ISU have that we don't? ISU is getting great players via the transfer route ever since Hoiberg took over. I think we need to follow that formula esp considering 2 of our best players are transfers. We should continue to go after these transfers with high upside that are looking for new homes. Think this is the route we need to go in order to keep the talent flowing year after year with guys ready to play & who know the system.
  11. Nu plays the early game. Creighton follows immediately after. Put your Vacation requests in now.
  12. I have no complaints on the draw. Baylor has been jekel & hyde this year. Sure San Antonio is only 2 hrs from Waco, but there's a lot of Husker alumni in Texas. Hope they turn out in full force to offset the home court advantage for Baylor. The 2 big guys will make it difficult for us to do what we like (drive to the bucket) but hopefully we can get them in foul trouble & hit some jumpers against that zone. Glad to be in & not in the play in game. All the other 6 & 7 seeds have their disadvantages, but for us to make a sweet 16 run this draw is perfect as we could have a very familiar opponent in round 2 (one that we have something to prove against).
  13. Since the difference between those last 8 teams is really close, I fully expect Dayton to get a bye. Its too much of a competitive advantage for Dayton to be playing on their home floor. Let's look at it this way, would we rather play Dayton at their home or play someone else in the play in round. I think almost every team in this situation would say they would rather play someone else. But I'm one that thinks Dayton actually deserves NOT to be in the play in game. In this case I think the one's finishing the season the best deserve the bye & the ones limping in should be in the play in round. (SMU, Iowa, KState, Ariz St, Xavier) would be the one's I'd put in the play in game. Wish Crieghton would have beaten Providence b/c they would have been another candidate for that last 4 in spot.
