  1. Probably the biggest failing not listed above is bungling the recruiting of the state of Nebraska. We aren't exactly swimming in talent here but that missing tenacity and buy-in to this program certainly was there. Recruiting Deverell Biggs ended up being the start of a series of overcorrections that we didn't recover from until just recently. That being said Miles made this program relevant locally and nationally again. While the new facilities certainly helped, the guy still hasn't stop selling this program.
  2. Sampson doesn't belong in this mid-major grouping you have here. All three coaches here are in the American, btw.
  3. This was the first game that we scored over a point per possession since the Indiana win
  4. Notes *-Thomas Allen’s 18 points tied a career high. He also had 18 points against Creighton on Dec. 8. It is also the first time Allen led Nebraska in scoring in his career.*-Thomas Allen’s five 3-pointers is a career high, betting the three he had against Kansas on Dec. 16, 2017. His previous season high was two on several occasions.*-Nebraska’s 10 3-pointers as a team is the most since hitting 11 against Southwest Minnesota State on Dec. 29, 2018, and the sixth time this season the Husker *-Purdue shot 50.9 percent tonight, becoming only the second team in the last 49 games to shoot over 50 percent against the Huskers dating back to last season.*-Nana Akenten’s five points is his highest total since Jan. 6 at Iowa, when he had seven points. In addition, his five rebounds tied for his second highest total of the season.*-James Palmer Jr. has reached double figures in 23 of 24 games this season and finished with 17 points.*-Nebraska got 23 points from its bench against Purdue, marking the second straight game the Huskers received double-figure points from its bench. It is the first time NU got consecutive double-figure efforts from its bench since Dec. 22-29, 2018, and its highest bench total in Big Ten play this season.*-Thorir Thorbjarnarson’s 3-pointer at the 17:51 mark of the first half was just his second of the season and first since Nov. 6*-Nebraska falls to 1-5 against ranked teams this season.
  5. This at least resembled a team that can beat Minnesota at home.
  6. If Rutgers has better talent than Sadler Nebraska teams why don't they have more wins?
  7. Nebraska Cornhuskers (13-10) at #15 Purdue Boilermakers (16-6) Date: Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 Time: 7:30 p.m. Arena: Mackey Arena Broadcast: BTN Courtesy of @HuskerHoops Purdue Info Head Coach: Matt PainterLocation: West Lafayette, INConference: B1G 10Nickname: BoilermakersMascots: Boilermaker Special, Purdue Pete Last time out: Beat Minnesota Conference Record: 9-2 Typical Rotation Depth: 9+ Line: Purdue by 12 Arena: Mackey Arena Player to watch: Carson Edwards The 6'1" Jr PG is a B1G POTY candidate and leads the league in scoring at 24.5 per game. If you haven't had a chance to see him this year you'll find that he is always open because he can create a shot whenever he wants. He's only scored under 20 in six games this year. KenPom Helps explain the Roster PG SG SF PF C Pct 1 3 Carsen Edwards 6-1 200 Jr 14 Ryan Cline 6-6 195 Sr 20 Nojel Eastern 6-6 220 So 24 Grady Eifert 6-6 220 Sr 32 Matt Haarms 7-3 250 So 24.3 Purdue runs the 3rd most efficient offense in Div 1 as they have a post players surrounded by 3pt shooters and it's all driven by Edwards Cline and Eifert are career 40%+ 3pt shooters. Cline is hitting over 50% in conference play Eastern is a slasher and elite defender who will be tasked with guarding Palmer Haarms is an elite shot blocker and efficient scorer who is now coming off the bench Talented 6'9" 280 Fr Trevion Williams has worked his way into the starting lineup and is an aggressive rebounder and scoring threat Freshmen 6'9" Aaron Wheeler, 6'3" Eric Hunter, and 6'4" Sasha Stefanovic are 10 minute a game backups who aren't as good at this point as the starters Dartmouth grad transfer Evan Boudreaux hasn't proven to be quick enough defensively or skilled enough offensively to find playing time recently The Skinny: If this team has been weighed down by expectations lately Purdue is formidable enough that the Huskers would be underdogs even if they were playing well. With the addition of Williams into this lineup the Boilermakers have ripped off 7 wins in a row and are in position to win the conference title. Nebraska's defense is by default set up to take away 3pt shots so we'll see how long we can handle trying to guard Williams/Haarms in single coverage before we've had enough. The 1-3-1 seems like a recipe for disaster against this superior passing and shooting team. The Boilermakers don't tend to generate a ton of contact so keeping the starters on the court for a lot of the game might be possible. Offensively this is a team that will put you on the line and will let you take 3s. Can we take advantage? It would be nice to see some life from this offense even if we're talking a loss here. Purdue had a week off to the point they actually took 2 days off. Might they start off slowly in a place like Mackey Arena where they notoriously jump out on people? Are they looking ahead to Maryland on Tuesday? Is this a poor shooting night for Edwards? Is this the night Nebraska finds their confidence again? That's asking a lot and even that might not be enough. Prediction: Purdue 75 - Nebraska 55 View full article

  9. Cary Cochran (Former Nebrasketball shooting guard) Cary gives his opinion on Husker head coaching desire compared to other schools How is the Nebrasketball program right now? Cary predicted things to fall apart earlier this season, what did he see back then?
  10. With those knees probably walking
  11. At this particular point moment trying to draw meaning from whether or not Moos is at a game is like trying to draw meaning from reading the players' social media postings: an exercise in seeing what you want to see. If we end up replacing Miles and he's showing up next year in one of those Herbie basketball hats? Then you'll know.
  12. TBH I didn't know anything about Jack Riggins other than he was very self-promoting on twitter so I didn't necessarily think that highly of him though obviously his services were in demand from volleyball and basketball so that meant something. Just listening to him talking on 1620 it's pretty obvious he could be helping this team right now and it's a shame that isn't allowed to happen.
  13. To me this is a overboard. Football drives this Athletic Department like it or not and national signing day was Feb 6th which I'm sure was set in stone well before this game was scheduled. I'm a basketball guy and sure as heck know that the AD should be showing up at the airplane hangar, not a rando sporting event on such a day.
  14. If expectations have been the root of the problem then this game at Purdue will offer a reprise because we wouldn't be expected to win this one even if we were playing well Carson Edwards is in the running to be the Big 10 player of the year and takes the highest percentage of shots of anyone in the conference. Thus if you recall what Winston from MSU or Culver from Texas Tech did to us, imagine that but during a true away game. He's the type of guy you hope is just having a bad day as he can get a shot up whenever he wants from wherever he wants. Matt Haarms gets all the attention because he's a giant Dutch guy who's typically a threat for a double-double in points and number of times running his hand through his hair but it's the emergence of 270# freshman center Trevion Williams that really has this team going. The only thing keeping Williams off the court is his foul trouble The rest of the team is mostly made up of dudes who will burn you from 3 if you try to double anyone except for 6'6" Nojel Eastern who is one of those can't shoot from the outside but slashes into the lane and gets to the FT line anyway types. All of the above adds up to one of the best offensive teams in college basketball This is a school that has a "defense lives here" sign in the student section which isn't the best medicine for a team in an offensive spiral. They do put you on the foul line and people make 3s on them, so it's possible for the offense to figure out something in this game
  15. We've been debating the same Steve Pederson Greatest Fans signs for years and in no way is that depressing
  16. Just a note that Howland took a two year break between UCLA and Miss St. That was an amazing get for the Bulldogs and they will be good as long as he wants to coach there.
  17. Don't think it has been mentioned here but before he was at Oklahoma, Kelvin Sampson was at Washington State for 9 years from 1985-1994. (3 as assistant, the rest at head coach)
  18. Regardless of who is our coach next year guys are going to leave. Bank on it.
  19. Danny Manning is signed through 2025
  20. Wouldn't an unproven guy be a 14-21 million dollar question?
  21. That is shaping up to be the 21-28 million dollar question
  22. Forgot to post the site link http://www.barttorvik.com/team.php?team=Nebraska you should be able to mouse over them to get the descriptions
  23. Not at all. I'm saying that I think Kansas St and Iowa St prioritize basketball at an equal or higher level than football and that's part of why they have generally been more successful over the years. Another part is that they simply have experience in this type of success. So yeah, we can be successful in both but doesn't it seem like we mostly know how we'll do it in football and don't really know how we'll do it in basketball?
