  1. Palmer isn't one of the most foul prone starter we have...he just literally ran into issues in KC. FC/40 Roby - 3.7 Watson - 2.9 Copeland - 1.6 Allen 1.1 Defending without putting guys on the line has been a real strength of this team thus far though every team has one of those nights where everyone is in foul trouble.
  2. That info is generally released about an hour before start time
  3. The HHC account is tweeting only Minnesota specific stuff right now.
  4. No road game in this conference will be a gimme
  5. #24 Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-1) at Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-2) Date: Sunday, Dec. 5, 2018 Time: 8 p.m. Arena: Williams Arena (The Barn) Broadcast: BTN Courtesy of @HuskerHoops Minnesota Info Head Coach: Richard Pitino Location: Minneapolis, MN Conference: B1G Nickname: Golden Gophers Mascot: Goldie the Gopher Last time out: Lost to Ohio St Conference Record: 0-1 Typical Rotation Depth: 9+ Line: Nebraska by 3 Tempo: B1G Fast Style: Pound it in the paint Kent-Phrase: "Jackwagon". Last year in the Barn in a close game Richard Pitino threw a tantrum that led to Kent uttering the phrase "Richard Pitino is a Jackwagon" Pitino was hit with a technical that took the crowd out of the game and Nebraska won by 6 Player to watch: Jordan Murphy The walking double-double is getting to the FT line at an incredible 88.6% FT rate (62 FTA / 70 shot attempts). On the flip side if you can get Murphy in foul trouble this is a team that struggles to score 60 points without him playing 30+ minutes KenPom Helps explain the Roster PG SG SF PF C Pct 1 1 Dupree McBrayer 6-5 195 Sr 22 Gabe Kalscheur 6-4 200 Fr 5 Amir Coffey 6-8 210 Jr 25 Daniel Oturu 6-10 225 Fr 3 Jordan Murphy 6-7 250 Sr 28.3 Minnesota has a well defined starting lineup with a couple of freshmen starters. A lot of length in that starting lineup and the roster Talented Amir Coffey is Minny's 2nd leading scorer though is struggling with his shot this year; is also getting to the FT line Dupree McBrayer is the starting PG in name only and is shooting like Jr year McBrayer, not Soph year (this isn't good) 5 star center Daniel Oturu is raw offensively but can run the court and protect the rim Minny native Gabe Kalscheur is your classic statue 3pt shooter and he's been on-fire hitting 53.5% this season from 3 PG of the future Isaiah Washington is coming off the bench and while he sets up his teammates well has really struggled with his shot Senior 7'0" center transfer Matz Stockman from Louisville (THANKS DAD) has been a pleasant surprise as a backup rim protector after almost never playing at Louisville 6-6 Jarvis Omersa (guy with the yellow hair) and 6-7 Michael Hurt (Guy that looks younger than Roby) provide depth but not usually much production Milwaukee grad transfer guard Brock Stull is barely in the rotation and has 6 shot attempts this year 6'9" Eric Curry probably would be your starting center over Oturu but the oft injured post is still a few weeks away after missing all of last year The Skinny: This seems like a make or break year for young Richard Pitino as while he's taken Tubby's guys to a NIT championship and finally won a NCAA tourney game as a 5 seed he's also had a couple of turd seasons with rosters plagued by injury and suspension. At this point the Gophers look like a fringe NCAA tourney team with 2 neutral court wins and a talented roster with a key member set to return shortly. Pitino probably is ok this year and is back again but as Sunday's beat down in Columbus shows you this is a buzzsaw type B1G conference with few gimmes. Minnesota offensively looks like the 13-14 tourney Huskers where that needed to augment their offense with FTs or else they struggle to crack 70. The Huskers have been giving up some easy looks inside at the expense of protecting the 3pt line but a switch in strategy against a team currently with only one reliable outside shooter might be in the cards. Last year Nebraska threw double teams at the Gophers and we should see some zone. The biggest problem with this team seems to be the lack of replacement for graduated PG Nate Mason which only compounds the spacing issues of a team often plays two traditional bigs. It's probable Nebraska can throttle yet another team defensively so the question that we'll often try to answer on the road in this conference is 'Will we find enough offense?' The name Pitino makes you think of pressure and steals but that's not what this team does. The Gophers are solid with all that length but they deploy a fairly pedestrian defense put often aren't disciplined and they will put you on the line. A patient offense that doesn't feed the Gopher transition game will get the job done here. We won up here last year and it was difficult against a struggling Gopher squad. A team like Michigan who has been killing anyone almost lost in Evansville last night so this is no gimmie. Road games are tough, that's why they're valued more by the tourney committee. Look for this Husker team to find a way. Prediction: Nebraska 72 - Minnesota 67 View full article

  7. Jordy's size and stamina was easily superior to what Brady has now and that's why he was the higher rated prospect. If they had the same skills you would always take Jordy over Brady as freshman Jordy is probably bigger and stronger than Brady might ever become. I think you could say that Brady's skill set offensively (and possibly defensively) are superior to what Jordy had going on his freshman year and the numbers/eye test back that up. Brady looks like a guy with touch around the rim and a nose for rebounding and the numbers back that up thus far. You're right though...the kid gloves have been kept on a kid who should probably be redshirting. Thus far he's been a star in his role, as the coaches like to say. Brady probably doesn't become the next Justin Patton or Ethan Happ but he doesn't need to be to in the roation or even start. With the way we want to guard the 3 his ability to protect the rim and rebound is really what we're looking for and I think we're going to put the weight and strength he so desperately needs on him this summer
  8. Worth a read at what he's gone through in his life http://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/id/25426510/dallas-cowboys-randy-gregory-talks-being-real-bad-place
  9. He's more efficient he's but less proficient. Parker looks like Terran Petteway compared to how much Amir shoots out there (this is mildly hyperbolic)
  10. Brady Jordy Brady is putting up better numbers against lesser competition. Besides the shooting numbers the biggest takeaway here is Brady's ability to guard with his length and not foul which is a big part of what we're trying to do as a team.
  11. Line comes out generally 24 hours or so before. This is the site I use though a simply google search will bring any up http://www.sharpfootballanalysis.com/lines.php?sport=ncaabb&period=0 If the line came out today it would probably start at us by 6. That could change if the outcome of the Minnesota game is unexpected or if either team had a significant injury
  12. I'll put one up later when I have a chance but other than minutes Brady is easily outperforming anything that Jordy ever did on the court. You're right though that there are less expectations on Brady and the question with him was more along the lines of 'did we make the right call offering him' vs Jordy's 'we won this guy from other Power 5 teams' recruitment.
  13. We are called "mini-Michigan" by Ken Pomeroy in his podcast, which is high praise. I'd put this in the podcast section, but to be honest, I don't find the KenPom podcast to be very compelling at all and often just tune out my brain while working and listening
  14. https://newenglandrecruitingreport.com/in-the-news/2018-zg-prep-classic-day-2-recap Mika Adams-Woods (2019) - The 6’3 Nebraska commit showcased his full range of playmaking abilities while leading his team to victory. Along with his silky smooth jumper, Adams-Woods consistently made highlight reel passes and showed an uncanny ability to control the temper his teammates. He finished with 19 points and 5 assists, and Cornhusker fans should be excited about what he can add to the Big Ten squad.
  15. Ah, I see that this is the same guy who once tweeted about Nebraska losing to Hawaii at 3 am
  16. We've put together a Sadler level defense with a roster full of guys recruited by other Power 5 teams
  17. Darren Devries was the long time assistant under Dana and then McDermott who beat that drum along with whatever Omaha kids might be on the roster. Also there was the whole 'MVC is mid-major' deal. Devries is gone. No Omaha kids on that rosters. They play in the Big East. That 'we gotta beat Nebraska' edge surely isn't as sharp. We're the team with the Nebraska kid on the roster who didn't get a 2018 scholarship offer by the Jays. We're the team with four Nebraska kids on the team to the Jay's zero. We're the team that beat up on Seton Hall because we were pissed about St John's from last year. We're the team that has an edge in all games...not just this one.
  18. If you're keeping score over at the Gopher hole it's Zero replies about Nebraska coming into down 22 replies to a thread about Fred Hoiberg being unemployed
  19. Scholarship players from Nebraska Nebraska - 2 Creighton - 0
  20. It's not the worst thing in the world to have an actual rival. Nebraska football doesn't really have one these days and that's a damn shame.
