  1. ^^^ this roster probably makes the tournament. If they add a couple killers in the portal watch tf out. I think we need a pitbull at SF and F. Janowski will probably give Brice good resting minutes day 1. Frager is handpicked for the 3 but he probably needs to be an understudy. As it stands though: Uhlis Lawrence Williams Gary Mast ^^^ that’s a salty bunch who can guard the perimeter with great speed at 1-4. A little small though. We really need a Bando SG/SF type who is an elite perimeter defender so Brice can guard the 3 on defense while punishing everyone at the 2 on offense. I’m not sure on Janowski’s defense but if he can guard the 2 he might start because of his offensive skills. JL is a really nice luxury off the bench with his energy.
  2. I had heard top 15 at an actual NIL event but I don’t remember who gave me that rank nor am I in the know. Regardless, I think we’re very competitive. It’s a lot easier to impact a basketball team than a football team.
  3. ^^^ full game of Frager against another all state kid. Plenty to criticize but he also drops a casual 40 or whatever as a legitimate 3 level scorer, and a junior. The elevation on his jumper from every level is seriously elite, and that translates. I don’t think Rice was going to be good enough defensively to get on the court much next season. I think Frager will be eventually but not year one. Also remember he’s the new Yvan in terms of age so he’s very much an investment. All that said, I liked Rice’s upside too… I don’t think his challenges were physical.
  4. Frager > Rice Janowski > Lloyd I think that’s what it comes down to. The writing was on the wall. The two newbies are likely to be an upgrade in team defense. Frager is at least close to Rice offensively and Janowski is a great young all around player. I don’t know how meaningful their contributions will be next season but they improve our roster with this trade immediately. And I liked both Rice and Lloyd as talents, but I like the newbs better.
  5. Yeah those answers are ambivalent. Not alarming. We just need to recruit who we want to play for us and pay them accordingly whether they are currently on the roster or in the portal. If we’re doing it right it will be a combination and we’ll have a better team next season.
  6. We’re going to have the $ to keep who Fred wants to keep and bring in some talent. I expect a win in the tourney next season.
  7. My hope for a rotation as of now: Ulis - Hoiberg Janowski - JL Williams - Wilcher Gary - Rice Mast - Matar ^^^ pretty salty group. I’m all in on Janowski contributing immediately. I think Rice will take a big step. That said, we probably need to open up the NIL checkbook for a gritty defensive minded transfer guard who can shoot at a reasonable clip. Right now we either have offensive guys or defensive guys. We need some all around guards.
  8. I gotta say I liked the job Trev did. But that was some bitchass timing. I hope A&M closes.
  9. Great season. We have talent on deck and a good system and staff in place. Plus a healthy NIL. I think Fred will send that monkey packing sooner than later. This season wasn’t a flash in the pan. It was mostly outstanding basketball with highly coachable kids. They’ll be back.
  10. Tough to say. If A&M shoots their average percentage from three it’s a close game right now.
  11. Sam needs to get JL’s minutes. He brings just a little more to this game.
  12. Weird game. I don’t feel like the moment has been too big for us. They just haven’t missed. The levy has to break at some point. The question is whether it will be soon enough. We have a run in us.
  13. Heavy help at the elbow and make them brick threes from the wing until we’re back in it. Then pray their NBA pg doesn’t do NBA things.
  14. Yep. They literally cannot shoot better from outside but 3ft shots and layups are demoralizing. They’ve made exactly zero post entry passes against our defense. We need heavy help at the top of the key and, despite the current numbers, keep making them shoot outside. I expect an ice cold second half from A&M unless they get to the rim.
  15. Offense has looked good. I'm encouraged on that end. We can't get any worse defensively and they can't get any hotter shooting so I imagine we'll make this thing interesting if we can slow it down the last few minutes, make some free throws, and keep it in single digits.
  16. Wilcher needs to sit the rest of the game. Horrible matchup for this team and he's refusing to rebound.
  17. Law of averages says A&M will cool off. I expect a cold second half from them.
  18. Sam is giving Taylor a way better look than anyone else has. I think we stay with that matchup defensively. We stop him, we stop them, but that's a lot easier said than done against an NBA guard.
  19. Met and spoke with both Ramel and his dad. Seemed like a good, genuine kid who planned to contribute this season. I don't think Fred has given up on him.
  20. I thought Duquesne looked like a mid-tier B1G team. I was very impressed by their athleticism and thought we played very well to get that win. Not surprised to see them making noise.
  21. My first year watching as a little kid was '91 - our best year, record-wise. I've been chasing the dragon ever since.
  22. I'm pretty ambivalent in confidence on this one. Common opponents were @OSU and PSU at home. A&M eeked out a win on the road against OSU on the road and handled PSU at home. Nebraska got handled on the road against OSU and dominated PSU at home. I do think their PG is the best PG we've seen this season. He's special. The rest of the team is scrappy and plays extremely hard. I like their team. Wildly different philosophies and body types. It will really come down to our defense because I think we can score on them with decent execution. I have no qualms with calling the game a tossup though.
  23. Yep. But they have 3-4 guys who can really get buckets in isolation and that’s their identity so they’re no joke. They want to spread teams out and go to work. They’ll be licking their chops based on the tape from the second half against Illinois. I’m not sure we could have had a team prepare us better for this game. If we want to beat them, we just need to watch the second half of the game we just played and not do that. They fly around and overplay on defense so I’m guessing we’ll get some easy buckets at the rim and wide open threes. It’s all going to come down to finishing defensive possessions and rebounding.
