  1. Glad we are playing some teams that will give the guys a chance to compete as opposed to making it a layup drill against the opposing team.

  3. I hate to be the one to say this, but I think Creighton is going to be pretty decent this year. Watch out for Khyri! The more you post, the more you sound like a particular lawyer from Omaha.
  4. There are only so many sports reporters and they're all at football. It ain't easy being a hardcore hoops fan. It is too bad that most of the sports reporters for Nebraska sports see basketball as basically just something between football season and spring football season. Then again, most of the fanbase is the exact same way. The fanbase that was top 10 in attendance last year? That fanbase?
  5. Per Jon Rothstein we will play Cincinnati first round of Barclays. Good for SOS, sucks because we have played them the past two years.
  6. With fall camp starting up we probably won't get much info unfortunately. Everyone is in football mode now.
  7. With the PG offers we have out for 2017 I'm assuming the staff is expecting Bakari to transition into the 2 spot eventually?
  8. Another? Who is their other top 60 recruit in their class? And will they stick around after Chambers gets fired this year?
  9. Yeah I'm confused....why are people assuming this guy cant recruit?
  10. Very impressive.....physically this kid is ready to play right now. We have quite a few options at RB as we speak(unproven options). Not sure this will help this year but I think he will be a good one down the road. Impressive film. Coach Bray has been a monster on the recruiting trail thus far.
  11. IMO the fact that an NBA all star goes to him for workouts and development says a lot. He seems to get good press on Twitter. The question that will need to be answered is can he recruit at a high level? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I'll confirm "During his time with the Wildcats, Beckner was primarily responsible for the defensive side of the ball." Defense was not our issue. We need someone that can recruit shooting. FYP. I don't think it boils down to a coaching issue...rather a recruiting issue. Miles does not have very many recruiting classes under his belt here at NU so it's still tough to judge...but thus far we have not brought in very many shooters. Hawkins and Fuller were going to be those guys but Hawkins transferred after a year and Fuller saw limited time in his first year playing. Mind you, I think Fuller will be just fine in the shooting department if he receives minutes. Andrew White is billed as a guy who can shoot the rock...but it hasn't been proven on the court yet.
  13. Trying to confirm but I have heard we are interested in this guy....not sure how serious it is. http://www.weberstatesports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209612737
  14. Can't say for certain on OU but the KU AD has stated there is no requirement within the Kansas board of regents that states KU and KSU are tied at the hip.
  15. Would be nice to know if Morrow and Bakari are going to be able to give it a go....the 10 practices are going to be crucial for the freshman as we are going to need 2-3 of them to give major minutes this year.
  16. Ok. Good for the Jays. But . . . optimism always abounds in the summertime when every team is still undefeated. That's true for the Jays. It's true for the Huskers. And it's true for everyone else. Yet, I can't imagine the grief Huskers would be receiving if a 2.5 star Composit Rating freshman is our "best defender" and a juco "no one has ever heard of" is probably "the most athletic guy on the team." What about that nearly-five-star seven footer; and what about those sat-out transfer world-beaters? But, hey, that's why they play the game. And that's what keeps us all coming back. And that's what keeps message boards like this humming. I don't think you can put a lot into rankings when it comes to Khyri Thomas. The fact of the matter is that everyone knew he wasn't going to be eligible coming out of high school, which kept several evaluators, not to mention potential suitors, away. Add to that very big strike one, the fact that he is from low population Nebraska (strike two) and his chance to get evaluated goes down even more. Look at the difficulty TreShawn Thurman had getting any exposure for further evidence of this. Having seen Thurman a great deal last year, I feel comfortable saying that he could easily be a rotation player with either the Jays or Nebraska. I think Khyri Thomas is the same situation - the kid is high major talent, with an incredible work ethic and a strong desire to get better. I've known Thomas for a long time and he is a natural leader and really, really good kid. That would all be true...if Thomas didn't go to prep school...In Virginia. But he did, and played at national showcases given him the opportunity to get recognized(again). What came from that was an offer from Creighton and his next best offer UNO . He may turn out to be a good player, I don't know...I've never had a chance to watch him play...but please don't act like he didn't have the chance to garner other high major offers. Thurman didn't go to prep school...if he did, my guess is he wouldn't be playing at UNO.
  17. I'm not sure why you are acting like you are not a Creighton fan. It's pretty clear by your posting history you root for them. I'm sure you are right that we won't beat them on the road. But them beating us doesn't mean they are world beaters. I guess we will see, but every year coming out of the summer they have a sweet 16 team. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And that's what keeps message boards like this humming. Basketball players are basketball players... the coaches knew they liked Khryi and his game. It doesn't, and shouldn't, matter what is recruiting ranking is. Albert has a 40+inch vert (according to piv who's been to every Italy practice) and can shoot well from deep. Again, doesn't matter that his reputation doesn't necessarily match what he will bring to the court. He had offers from Memphis, Pitt, Purdue and Oregon. The transfers are given the benefit of the doubt that they will perform well; Cole Huff should be the most productive newcomer and Maurice Watson will easily fill the shoes of Chatman and hopefully then somePatton will probably redshirt, he's too thin to play center in the big east at this point. To shield against any remarks you all might have in response to us redshirting a 5 star prospect...again a player is what they bring to the court not their recruiting ranking. The recruiting guys that watched patton know how good a player he can become and that's why he is rated so highly Look, at the end of the day, I know i'm not gonna change any of your minds about how well Creighton will perform this year. But, objectively speaking, we have more shooters than we did last year. We are a lot more athletic than last year. We will also have more depth. My realistic expectation is a NIT bid, we could make the tournament if the guys really gel early and someone (Huff most likely) steps up to be a go to guy Have you seen your new JUCO player on the court? He is a tooth pick and will no doubt have issues come conference time due to his size. He needs to eat a sandwich before he withers away. I can't say for certain on Thomas...my guess is if your best defender is a true freshman you all will struggle again during conference play. But then again...every player that comes thru your program is all world in the summer time. At this time last year Leon Gilmore was the most athletic player every to step foot on campus. I'm sure you all will be better....I still don't trust McDermott to get it done in major league though. We shall see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Thanks. Not sure if media will be able to attend practices but it would be nice to get a few nuggets. I believe Crayton is doing an overseas trip, too; and the Omaha media has had a few practice reports. I saw a few tweets...apparently their whole roster is now littered with all-americans and super human athletic freaks. This will be the sixth straight season that "they've never had a roster" like this before. Hopefully Miles will allow some of the LJS guys to watch...wouldn't mind a few updates on how the young guys look. Well, not to offend the rational sensibilities of this board, but... They do look pretty good. Well, I guess that's why they play the games. Last year we looked pretty darn good around this time also.

  22. Has practice started for the overseas trip? It just seems awfully quiet.
  23. Miami is an Addidas affiliate. Not sure who produces the backdrop...probably some 50 year old that tweets at 17 year old basketball recruits all day. Krayton has quite a few stalkers that does so. We got in late on both LA recruits but it would be surprising if they got out of the south. My guess is LSU is the destination if LSU has enough room.
  24. I think you will see a much better team. How much better the record gets is still up for debate as the schedule is tougher. Why do you say the schedule's tougher? Good question. The noncon, outside of Nova, seems much weaker. I also think that the Big 10 will not be as good this year - Wisky loses everyone, Ohio St lost a key cog and others will be down too. Maryland should be very good, but otherwise I see a less dangerous road. Wrong on both fronts. The schedule is much more difficult this year...both in terms of non-con and conference. Big 10 will be better as a whole. Maryland will be improved considering the transfer they got and who is all coming back. Michigan will be MUCH better Michigan State won't be any worse Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern, Illinois will all be better. Wisconsin loses a ton...but it's naive to think that Bo Ryan doesn't have a plan considering he has never finished lower than 4th in the conference. Ohio State loses a lot....but is still replacing everyone with top rated recruits. You might not have a top 5 team like you had last year in Wisconsin, but the rest of the conference is improved. As for the non-con..... Miami, Rhode Island, @Nova, @Creighton, neutral vs. Cincy/GW/Tenn, neutral vs. Cincy/GW/Tenn is better than @Rhode Island, Creighton, @Florida St, @Hawaii, Cincinnati Agree on both accounts...except even though the Big 10 will be better I think our conference schedule won't be as daunting as we get Rutgers, PSU, and NW twice this year.
  25. BTW, I have no idea who this individual might be so I'm not trying to be cryptic here. Would fans be happy to have Scott Spinelli back?
