  1. +/- boxscore Based on this simple metric, sure looks like the first 5 are a good fit (at least tonight). https://storage.googleapis.com/huskers-com-prod/2024/01/05/b660Qv20Qds8XCHOwFXu7XB2O8QqSi14RHym4OYe.pdf
  2. Nebraska Cornhuskers (10-3, 2-0 Big Ten) at Wisconsin Badgers (7-5, 0-2 Big Ten) Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, 8 p.m. (CT) Kohl Center - Madison, Wisconsin TV: BTN (FoxSportsApp) Live Radio: Huskers Radio Network (7:30 p.m.) Matt Coatney (PBP), Jeff Griesch (Analyst) B107.3 FM (Lincoln), 590 AM (Omaha), Huskers.com, Huskers App Live Stats: Huskers.com
  3. Looking ahead ..... The Nebraska women’s basketball game with Indiana on Sunday, Jan. 7, will tip at 1 p.m. (CT). The Big Ten Network made the announcement of the tip time late New Year’s Eve, following game time and TV selections for the NFL Week 18 flex picks for the coming weekend. Sunday’s game for the Huskers features Pack PBA along with Alumni Day, recognition of the 10-year anniversary of Nebraska’s 2014 Big Ten Championship Team and the retirement of All-American Jordan Hooper’s No. 35 jersey.
  4. She might be able to handle more minutes? Don't know. We're just fans, with thoughts. Some suggestions are better than others. People who don't give a darn about the team, don't frequent these pages. Just my opinion, but I think lines of communication and coach/player relationships are such, if workload becomes an issue, it will be expressed/noticed. I have been critical of this staff at times regarding recruiting, player development, substitution strategy, etc., but on a personal level, I believe this staff operates in the players best interest.
  5. I probably could have worded it better. When I stated " I noticed Maryland had a few players that had plus minutes for the game", I was just saying, those players had positive +/- ratings for the game. During their minutes on the court, they outscored Nebraska. Briggs wasn't one of them, dispite her offensive output. Was it just an anomaly, or were there reasons for it? I don't know, but do find it an interesting stat.
  6. With regards to Briggs, she played 32+ minutes, most on her team. I could see a particular line-up having more of an impact, if she played fewer minutes. Not sure how this translates to someone who played all but 7+ minutes.
  7. That is interesting. +/- stats definately use different criteria. I too was impressed with the play of Hake. Yet, she was one of 3 Huskers (Coley/Stewart) with negative +/- points. My guess, she was caught on the court during a Maryland run or two, while some of the starters were resting. And White, she had a great game, yet efficiency ratings don't agree. Might be hard to quantify things like game management, lack of turnovers, defensive contributions, ?? Stats are fun, but can confuse me at times. GBR
  8. Stewart, Nissley, and possibly Petrie could all contribute more, as the season progresses. I'll keep tuning in.
  9. The injury would explain her absence. Thanks for pointing that out. Looks like she has been out since late November. Not sure what you are saying with regards to +/-. What is your point? Of course, the +/- stats are all about team scoring. That was the point of my comment. It is what I find interesting. Even though Briggs had 25 points, Nebraska outscored Maryland by 4 points while she was on the court. It works the other way too. Darrian White was outscored by 4 other Huskers, yet she led the +/- stats with +10. There is much more to the game than individual scoring and the +/- stats seem to support that.
  10. I find the +/- stats interesting. I noticed Maryland had a few players that had plus minutes for the game. Briggs, by far the most productive offensive player for the Terps yesterday, finished with minus minutes. It was mentioned several times during the broadcast, she hadn't been getting playing time lately. I wonder if her defensive play had anything to do with that? On the Nebraska side, the stats seem to support the praise White is receiving. We played well with her on the court yesterday. And like usual, Jaz, Natalie, and Alexis are solid as rock. That sure was a fun game to watch.

  12. I second your comment on free throws. 11 of 12 down the stretch, and 23 of 26 for the game. Well done ladies.
  13. Illinois vs Indiana girls play at 11:30 on BTN. Hopefully their game doesn't go long.

A little off topic, but along these lines, the number of players 'opting out' of playing in the bowl games, is also disturbing to me. I understand the risk they take, with regards to their futures in the sport. But, all games are a risk. I'm curious how NIL money is affected by these decisions. The player is basically under contract. Like I said, I understand their reasoning, but my respect for the individual is diminished some. Probably just me, but I also find them standing with the team on the sideline, a bit odd.

If MM were to concentrate on volleyball the next 2 seasons, she would still have BBall eligibility left. She could further her education and play some basketball if she desired. The young lady is just 18. Options are numerous. I wish her the best, and glad she was a Husker, even if only briefly.

The timing of her substitutions, regardless of game momentum, seem to me, preplanned. Scripted by definition, is planned in advance. I was replying to a post expressing something similar. Are you fine with substitution patterns, or just like to be disagreeable?

It is as if she is going off a script, regardless of how the game is going. Bugs me too.

Does she have to be on any scholarship? Do you think Sam Hoiberg is on schollie?

Those are good schools. Wouldn't surprise me, if being closer to home was part of her decision.

Kennadi is part of our current recruiting class, but do you think she will be on scholarship? Is it a guarantee Krull and Stewart get full rides for a 5th year? I'm asking. Is Nebraska obligated? NIL could also come into play. We could get creative, and have lots of room for new players. Then again, when was the last time Coach Williams operated with a full roster?

Even though she was on a BBall scholarship, I think volleyball was always her preferred sport. Middle blocker seems to be a stacked position with Allick and Jackson. I wish her luck through the portal.
  23. +/- boxscore below. Not surprisingly, Markowski was the only player with plus minutes. Nissley broke even. Surprisingly, KM was next best. She had a couple of turnovers, but made up for it with steals. https://storage.googleapis.com/huskers-com-prod/2023/12/21/EXGfu3c0MV6Oa1L33l4VY9YAecg8goJRjmg3ZRFC.pdf
  24. I actually fell asleep in my chair listening in the first half. Unfortunately, I woke in time for the 2nd half. That was a 'clunker'. Hoping the 11 day break helps.
  25. I'll be going 'Old School' with Matt and Jeff tonight. Hope to hear "You Betcha" frequently.
