  1. Not good so far. They can’t shoot and MD can’t miss
  2. If it is me and all those guys come back. I go for a combo guard who can get buckets and a high energy guy like Josiah. Hopefully Rice and Matar are ready next year (think Rice is ready now if needed)
  3. Ohio St and Iowa with nice wins for the league. Michigan not so much
  4. 100% this, plus the Big10 will always be at least 5-6 team league going forward. No chance we only get 3 in these days
  5. I think there will be good student support. The tix is in their season package. I know of some going for sure
  6. Fred basically said he like Gary coming off the bench today so I think we will continue to see that. I agree on the offense as well, him and CJ will need to provide scoring on that second unit.
  7. Hunter is playing some really good ball right now. I knew he had all the skills needed except a jump shot. So far he is shooting it great, a lot more consistently than I thought he could. Will be interesting to see if he can continue it. If he does he might get close to living up to his high school ranking. Wrightsell, not so much
  8. Telling good shooters not to take open looks is never a good idea in my book (except running clock). We have a lot of good shooters.
  9. Obviously not a great start for the BIG but at least we tied the Gavitt games. People make it seem like the Big East crushed us.
  10. Being equal to or better than Utah in that scrimmage is good news for our potential. They look pretty good so far this year and that Carlson kid is a dude.
  11. I thought we were in trouble watching the start of the game. They were knocking down shots like crazy from everywhere. Glad they came back to reality but wanted them to win.
  12. I just think normally a players instinct is to go hard after a loose ball. I don’t like playing scared like that but that’s just my opinion. The one on Monday was not even a scrum situation. Agree on lazy passes by a lot of guys is one of the things we need to tighten up for sure.
  13. They were definitely chippy and got away with a lot of slaps/bumps. They also were not afraid of the deep 3, dang. I hope those that asked about Brice’s intensity saw it tonight. He got a little fired up at 21 (they exchanged some elbows at one point) and came out and lit them up in the 2nd half, great overall stat line. If we get 2nd half Brice more often than not we will be tough. I don’t mind him as a change of pace initiator at all either. i also think we are going to see a 9 man rotation. Don’t think he can sit Sam with his energy or Boogie as he seems to be the back up PG. Guess those two and CJ’s minutes might fluctuate depending on the game and what we need but all three will get regular minutes. Wish there was more for Rice as well but don’t see 10. Hope Keisei settles in and does more cutting and no forcing 3s. Also the second game he did not go hard after a loose ball on the floor which was concerning. Overall happy with this one.
  14. I can see that thought but I believe he has proven to be an elite shooter at every level he has been at, except year 1 at Nebraska. It is very normal for juco guys to take a year to adjust to the big jump to P5. He was elite at Juco, he has been elite in international competition that has included some of the best teams in the world and he was damn near a 40,50,90 guy last year in the big ten. I do worry he will try to do to much which we saw Monday, as that could be an issue. As you mentioned we have enough shooters he does not need to do that for us to be successful.
  15. I get what you are saying but CJ is not any better than KT on defense IMO and KT can just go on a burner at any point. Think Fred mentioned he scored 14 straight to start the Utah scrimmage. Don’t think we can waste a chance for a great start by having him on the bench. The great thing is if he has a bad start CJ can also come in and hit shots, depth is a great thing. Just have a hard time not starting one of the best shooters in the country.
  16. I’ve seen Boogie mentioned as a ball stopper by a few folks. So on my rewatch I specifically looked for ball sticking and specifically with Boogie. I can tell you that is not the case. The only time he took more than a couple dribbles was when they switched and he had a small guy he was backing down which Fred wants. He might not be real quick and he did take one forced 3 but he is not a ball stopper and is looking to make passes. JL is the better PG now though, if he can take better care of the ball and find his shot. In fact the team in whole move the ball pretty well. There were a couple forced shots (Keisei had a few) but overall good shots. Our problem was sloppy ball handling, very lackadaisical passes, and not being strong with the ball. Add that to a poor shooting night and that is what you get. CJ played well on offense but that def was not good. Williams is just a good all around player. Once he finds his role I think his offense will take off. I really like Mast, strong and is a tough rebounder for someone with limited athleticism.
  17. Still fine with me, game minutes mean more. I don’t think Blaise is going to contribute so I am happy he will be available if needed. Whatever it takes t win this year.
  18. I’m glad he is not. Think any minutes he will get benefits more than a redshirt year. Plus with the injuries and I’m sure there will be some games with foul problems we will probably need him. I’m also not looking down the road, let’s win now.
  19. So I’ve watched it twice and agree with the sloppy passing / turnover and poor defense for sure. What never stood out to me was guys playing hero ball. I mean it happens to every team every game at least a few times. Who did you see doing that? I know Fred wants Brice posting up so I’m not counting that. Just curious, maybe I missed a few.
  20. It is weird but I did see it on Twitter the day before and Amy Williams bought in the mom and gave her some Husker swag before the game. So I think people knew but agree it’s odd it was not more publicized.
  21. This was my thought as well, don’t remember anyone saying we were in trouble if he was playing. Do remember people wondering whose minutes he was taking if he was in the top 8. However it seems like Fred wants a faster pace this year and that might lead to a 9 man rotation with Sam being in that 9 and then going with the hot hands in the second half. He can be in the rotation of a good team for sure, nice problem to have
  22. I will be cheering for him to do well but will be surprised if he turns into an efficient scorer if he’s taking that many shots a game. Played some pick up games with him this summer and his shot is still pretty inconsistent. Very athletic and could be a defensive stopper if he commits to it.
