  1. I was at the game. There were enough people there to make a little more noise but apparently we were all in the frigid mood like our shooting. I did set a personal vertical leap from my seat when Coley missed her point blank nobody on me layup for the second game in a row. She did play pretty good defense when she was in there. Potts not fouling out was important. I think our defense is good enough to slow down Minnesota's hitting threes a little but we will need to really be on in hitting ours to win this game.

I'll just say this and then move on. The past is the past. I like Amy Williams and feel she is doing a good job. Trev Alberts seems happy with our WBB program and I really enjoy going to the games and watching them play. It may be that my expectations are not as high as some other peoples but so be it. I never try to piss anyone off but maybe some of my posts are in haste or well thought out.

Glad you brought that up. I don't have a problem with criticism of the coach for certain specific things like substitution, lack of calling timeouts etc. That is a lot different then calling for a different coach.

Boy it's sure hard to keep you guys happy. Presently in 3rd place in the league. Two really good road wins. A win over Maryland at home for the first time ever. One conference loss to a really hot and veteran Indiana team. We have Improved recruiting. Maybe if we were at over rated Illinois we could bitch about our coach. They have parlayed last years win over Iowa into convincing people including the media that they are good.

A goal defending player that can also score would be great.
  6. Logan Nissley, Nebraska Whether it’s being a spot-up shooter, coming off screens, or trailing in transition, the 6-foot freshman guard knows that she’s put on the floor to take and make shots, and she has grown more comfortable calling for the ball. With Nebraska’s guard-heavy team, she is also making the most of her minutes, already amassing five games with double-digit scoring and connecting on at least one 3-pointer in every game except two. In the Cornhuskers’ most recent outing against Indiana, she made 3-of-6 from outside and shot 5-of-9 overall for 13 points. Now averaging 6.8 points per game—including 1.7 makes from deep with a 41.9 three-point field-goal percentage—Nissley should continue to be a key scoring threat and a very valuable piece in Nebraska’s lineup. Hot Off the Bench, 12/26 – 1/8 Breaking down eight players who have come off the bench and provided their teams with instant offense beyond the arc REBECCA PRENEVOST JAN 9

I don't think so. We need a back up at middle and right side.

One minute you are playing in High School and the next the Big Ten grind. She is very smart academically and athletically. A really big plus is that her and Markowski really like each other which complements their play.
  9. As far as getting beat on defense I can be more tolerant if a freshman does versus a 4th or 5th year player.
  10. It's time to start Nissley at the 3. Wouldn't have made any difference today but would in many of the upcoming games starting with over rated Illinois this Thursday. She has a lot more of an upside than demonstrated by the person there now.

She was but I'm just saying that even though you are short, through hard work and dedication you can make a difference. Look at the 5-4 point guard for Wisc. She gave us fits. That's why I think Kennadi Williams also at 5-4 will be able to help us next year. They all carry some extra motivation.
  12. You are right. We are improved but we as fans are are never totally happy. We could beat Indiana on Sunday and there would be very little if any criticism until our next loss. That is part of the human frailty.
  13. Not having Allison W. this year took away some from Jaz's game. In the past they really played well together feeding off of each others strengths.
  14. Statistics are fine to give a partial evaluation of team and individual performances. All you really need to do is watch the game a couple of times to realize we are one starting guard away from having a really good team. When you have a weakness like that you allow the other team to concentrate on our only good starting shooter from the outside (Shelley).
  15. Efficiencies listed on Live Stats: Potts 21, Shelley 13, Markowski 13 and White 5.

Even though she is a bit vertically challenged she is proof that through desire, hard work and confidence you can be a contributor. Look at Laney Choboy in VB.
  17. Natalie playing her best game of the year against tough competition got over looked this week. Here is who got Big 10 Freshmen of the week with wins over Wisc. (net 113) and Indiana st. (net 244). Freshman of the Week Mary Ashley Stevenson, Purdue F – New York City, N.Y. – The Dalton School – Major: Communications • Chipped in 11 points, eight rebounds, two assists and a steal in Purdue’s win over Indiana State • Recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, an assist and steal to beat Wisconsin • Earns her first Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor
  18. I would like to look at it this way. Natalie will be one of the main building blocks to taking our program to another level with more help coming next year. We are retiring Jordan Hoopers Jersey next Sunday. How great would that be to add Natalies as well some day. We all need to stay positive when applicable.
  19. I think that the 4 position better suits Petrie at least until she gets stronger. The middles in the big ten are big and physical.
  20. Yes we are all fans that want the best for our team. Even though we only see a little of what goes on with the team in practice etc. I still enjoy the input that we have on this forum. Sometimes we are right on and many times way off. Hindsight is always 100%. Any way we are 2-0 with two great wins and I hope we can keep up our intensity. Next Sunday Indiana will be another great measuring stick. GBR beat Wisconsin.
  21. You are correct. In the last years final game where we lost to Kansas, Kendall M. was a starter and played for 28 minutes scoring 10 points shooting 67%. She had 1 assist, 1 t/o, 1 rebound, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot. I felt she would challenge Maddie K this year.
  22. Yes the efficiency stats favor offensive production and don't cover a lot of defensive contributions of which there are many. Also it is better to look at the whole seasons average efficiency that has a lot bigger sampling size. I like to look at both the plus minus and efficiency. For example in the run in the 3rd qtr when we went from a one point lead to a nine point one, we had an interesting mix out there in Shelly, Hake, Nissely, Potts and Markowski. They played well together with having a plus 8 for that stretch.
  23. Taking a look at the individual efficiencies for this game is interesting. Natalie P. 25 Her best game so far. It shows she came from a great program with an outstanding High School coach. Alexis M. 20 Nice improvement in conditioning helping to play more minutes. Tough and consistent. Jaz S. 17 Nailed some incredible passes. Callin H. 16 Improves almost every game. Maddie K. 10 Her best game. Darian W. 6 Her lowest game but her ability to help break the press was great with only one turnover. As for the rest of the bench they totaled 28 minutes for the five players with efficiencies ranging from 2 to a -1.

In my mind at the end of the VB season she realized to play at this level you needed to pick a sport and dedicate yourself to it for the entire year. Unfortunately for us WBB fans it was VB which necessitated the portal. My wish was for her to choose BB, redshirt a year and then have three left to play after Alexis graduates. Wishfull thinking.
