  1. I have believed that for a long time. She get's knocked around quite a bit inside and besides we have two more posts for next year without losing any.
  2. The following is from the "Connect and Compete" article 0n Alexis written by Jeff Griesh last July: Growth and improvement were cornerstones of Markowski's high school career. As a freshman, Markowski missed the entire basketball season with a foot injury. Being forced to sit out the entire 2017-18 season had a major impact on Markowski's approach to the game."I learned a lot during my injury. I realized that every day on the court is a gift and can be taken at any time," Markowski said. "I also realized how much love I have for the game of basketball. Before my injury I took the game for granted."
  3. On an interview with Dave Revsine on BTN Amy Williams was asked about recruiting Alexis. She said that after Alexis had a season ending injury as a Freshman at Lincoln Pius our staff was monitoring her rehab during her sophomore year and following her progress when South Dakota State swept in hard and offered and she committed as a sophomore. Then she had an outstanding junior year and during that time many schools became interested. Covid was strong at that time and Alexis decided to open up her commitment. Nebraska then offered her and she committed to us and ultimately signed having a great senior season as well. I have never seen such determination when on the court as all one has to do is look at her eyes after a big play to witness it.
  4. She needs to continue to start and then it's up to coach to decide between Issy and Bella (once healthy) as to who is the other starter. As far as dumb fouls a lot of that depends on the refs. It must be really disheartening the variation of what refs call game to game. She will learn to get an early read on refs in a game and hopefully adjust accordingly. That being said dumb fouls are not just committed by freshman. Take Haiby's end of quarter foul on Clark against Iowa. Clark will most often get the call due to who she is. That cost us 3 points and some momentum.
  5. When she has to guard someone under the basket she seems to do OK. When she has to come out and play a fast good shooting stretch 4 like Warnock she seems to have problems. She isn't as active as Cravens.
  6. Both are fast learners and ahead of typical freshman in their development. Should be interesting to see them come tournament time.
  7. If you haven't already done so go to Huskers.com and the WBB page and click on statistics and then on individual and then conference only. Those individual stats including some for the team are very informative. It's been only 4 conference games but you can start to see how everyone is doing after filtering out the somewhat easy non conference games. To me it is very evident that Alexis M. needs to be on the floor as much as possible. A real game changer. Especially what she has done in such limited minutes. Also outside of Ashley S. who is shooting threes at 46% the rest of the team combined is shooting 21%. That tells me that we are shooting too many threes and we need to get the ball to Alexis as much as possible. Yes she can't play when setting on the bench in foul trouble like yesterday but we probably would have won if she wasn't. She is a game changer who is learning Big Ten post play very rapidly. If she would have played more at Michigan State we would have won that game. In 11 minutes she doubled Issie and Bella's rebounds and matched their point total. They each played about 24 minutes. Alexis only had 2 fouls so in that case it was coach's decision not to play her more.
  8. I asked the same question at a midweek day game to an official awhile back and got the same answer. " Can't get workers"
  9. NU by 7. Can't let the BULL (Cizano) go off on us.
  10. Just out are his latest predictions. 7 Big ten teams as of now. Indiana 2 seed, Maryland 3, Michigan 4, Nebraska 6, Ohio State 8, Iowa 8 and Northwestern 9.
  11. Thats the way I do it as well. It seems to me that a year or two ago I could play things in slow motion which was great in analyzing a play. I can't do that anymore. I don't know if BTN+ changed something or I screwed something up. I'm kind of old school.
  12. I found out that if you log on to your BTN + account first it makes navigating easier.
  13. Why is Scoggins out there and when she is why does she drive to the basket as it almost always ends in a turnover!!!!! But on the other hand she can really hit the three. I don't usually post during the game as sometimes I get caught in the moment especially if something negative happens. I am glad Ashley is on the team and she does a lot of good things.
  14. Looks like an open door to a lot of controversy.
  15. As for refs calling fouls, in my 40 plus years of following WBB I have never seen a player "flop" and get away with it as much as Nia Clouden. She got fouled a lot but numerous times there was basically no foul but there she was flying through the air like she was hit by by a linebacker. One of the worst was when Allison Weidner was guarding her as she drove to the basket along the baseline. The replay showed no contact but there was Clouden shooting 2 free throws. All in all that's not what lost us the game as that happens on the road. Many other deficiencies as aptly pointed out in many previous posts should get the attention of our team.
  16. We have had very poor rebounding from our starting posts for the last two games. Six total against Wyoming and 3 total today. Is it lack of size, toughness or hustle. Heaven for bid when we play Indiana or Michigan with their great posts. Markowski doubled their rebounds with 1/3 the playing time. Haiby and Shelly had 16 between them today.
  17. Cravens and Bourne total 2 rebounds. Shelly and Haiby have 10 total. Our starting posts need to get a lot tougher. Why isn't Weidner playing more.
  18. Izzy is having a really tough day so far but she isn't the only one. Cayton trying to block a clouden 3pt attempt was laughable. 3 free throws by her and Cayton gets jerked.
  19. Our whole team looks up tight on offense. If we don't loosen up could be a loss. Also way too many offensive rebounds given up.
  20. My memory of last years Mich. St. at NU is a little different. They are the ones that backed out of what was probably a loss for them. That cost us a chance for a winning record for regular season. Also I don't like their (Barbie Doll) coach.
  21. Drake out rebounded them by quite a bit and made field goals at about an 8% higher clip and made a few more free throws.
  22. Every big ten game is big but the one looming on the horizon is Jan 4th with Michigan coming to town. It will be a great measuring stick for our progress. I like our chances and if you are going to challenge for a top four finish in the Big Ten, games like that are important. That being said you can't over look anyone. Playing on the road at Michigan State could cause us some grief but I feel that although we are very young we are well grounded. Hope the Covid stays away from our team. More games across the country are being cancelled every week. GBR
  23. As for Red Panda I was at the game and maybe it was too early in the day. Still very talented. I then went to the men's game last night for the first time and she performed again. Perfect performance with no drops. Crowd gave her a standing ovation. I can understand why she is so popular.
  24. We play Michigan only once and that is at Nebraska on Jan. 4th. Need a huge crowd to cheer us to a victory.
