2018 F Ed Chang (Papillion-LaVista)
Norm Peterson replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I think Chang's length makes up for any lack of physicality on the defensive side. And it's not like he won't get stronger. As far as his offense goes...the kid is a sniper. Ball weighs < 1.5 lbs I agree with what Mitch says. Dude is a sniper. A 6'7" Steph Curry. Oh, but he was skinny as a sophomore in high school, so maybe we don't want ... ... to judge what he'll be like physically in two years when he's a college freshman. How's that? -
I'm happy to say that somewhere out there there's a picture of Tear'a Laudermill and her parents standing in front of that same granite ball during her official recruiting visit and the gentleman on the other side of the camera was none other than yours truly. (Edited to add: Just for the sake of clarity, it was THEIR camera, not mine. I didn't just snap some picture of Tear'a and her folks as I was walking by. They asked and I happily obliged.)

http://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/baseballs-top-10-players-drafted-no-1-overall/ss-AAgQRIx?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=DELLDHP#image=1 "Erstad was a dual-sport star at the University of Nebraska: He was the starting punter for the Cornhuskers’ football team and was part of the 1994 National Championship team while also leading the school’s baseball team. Erstad made his MLB debut the same year he was drafted, ultimately spending 10 seasons with the Angels and winning a World Series in Anaheim in 2002. He also made the All-Star team twice and won three Gold Gloves."

Davison didn't just catch flea-kickers
Norm Peterson replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
What's that stuff on top of his head? Fungus or something? -
What are ya? The frickin' grammar cop? Because he also misspelled "hailing." Just, y'know, saying.

It's not even close to that simple though we've grabbed a top 100 for this year (Palmer) ATM there is one former 4 star who is immediately eligible (LJ Rose of Houston). I don't think the playing time he wants is here for him as he's not coming here to be Watson's backup. The rest of these types of players that are currently transferring either aren't interested in us or never lived up to the potential for whatever reason (think Moses Abraham) That's what i'm trying to get at -- somewhere in there in the second line that you didn't quote i said 'if it fits'. the thing is... with morrow and jacobsen i'd be hesitant to take a 4. with palmer and roby i'd be hesitant to take a 2/3. so you're basically left with a 1 who thinks he's better than watson (good luck with that) or a 5. we're way more likely to try and get a high-end high schooler in the next recruiting cycle IMO. We lose two 2s to graduation after this coming season. I would not be hesitant to take another top 100 type shooting guard transfer to sit out if we can still find one at this juncture. Best option would have been a grad transfer center like the kid from Louisville who never materialized. Seems unlikely that would happen now. I'd go get a 2 or save it for the 2017 class.

NCAA Men's Basketball Attendance
Norm Peterson replied to AuroranHusker's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
It makes total sense. When football isn't in season, a portion of the Memorial stadium sellout crowds who are from Omaha attend Creighton basketball games and the ones from Lincoln watch the Husker hoopsters at PBA. It's like the migration of Sandhills Cranes. Next fall, our fine feathered friends from Omaha will be back to wearing red and migrating to Lincoln on Saturdays. -
2018 F Ed Chang (Papillion-LaVista)
Norm Peterson replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
Alright, well, that makes a stronger case for what you said. I always said if Ed keeps shooting the way he has been, he'll get a 4th star. -
2016 PF/C Jordy Tshimanga - Signed
Norm Peterson replied to trickey's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
He's pretty straight-line fast for a guy who weighs 280#. -
Congrats on the big number, Auroran. Keep rolling.

Can it be both? A favor to them and a trap game to us?

2018 F Ed Chang (Papillion-LaVista)
Norm Peterson replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I like Ed Chang and hope we land him, so I'm not saying this to diminish Ed at all, but ... Your premise -- the fact that the class is ranked #23 (actually #25) -- doesn't prove your conclusion. The class is ranked so highly primarily because of one player: Rivals #32 player Shamorie Ponds. They also have an under-the-radar German kid who wound up as a Rivals 4-star but only had a handful of offers from American colleges/universities. Good player but definitely one they had to beat the bushes to find and get involved with. The other player in their class was a 3-star juco kid, so ... -
2016 F Isaiah Roby - Signed

Beautiful picture. Welcome, Isaiah. Can't wait to see you in scarlet and cream and dribbling that basketball in a game for real.
