  1. That’s a nice pad he has....
  2. I know we all agree on this, but man, it'll be awesome when Morrow doesn't have to play Center.
  3. Against Miss. Valley State, Trueblood came in just before the end of the 1st half and sagged of his man to help, and ended up giving up a 3 to end the half. Miles wasn't yelling, but was certainly having a conversation with him all the way into the locker room. I'm in no way trying to pick on the young man, btw, just an observation.
  4. Evelyn had the streetball mix tape move of the game when he split the two defenders with the behind the back dribble move, that was nice.
  5. Anyone else notice Trueblood coming in, giving up that 3, Miles getting on him, and all of a sudden Laws replaces him? Perhaps they were resting for NY too!?!?
  6. I was walking back to my car thinking the same thing! A win is still a win, but at times, this game was a bit sloppy. Still, on to Thanksgiving and then bigger and better things.
  7. I had the opportunity to travel to a NU vs. K-State game with a ref from NW Iowa during a Coach Collier year. Can't remember the exact year, but K-state absolutely smoked us and John McCardle from Millard North (football recruit) was in attendance getting recruited to play for the Wildcats. It was on a weekday, I think a Wednesday. They get reimbursed for all travel, hotel if applicable, and are provided a meal by the home team. K-state gave him a box very similar to what you would see in a typical Jimmy John's lunch box. This particular ref did NCAA and even Final Four games, so he was on the high side, at the time I believed it was close to 1,250.00 per game, and he typically did 2-3 games per 7 days.
  8. Can't be a good sign for Hammond. If he isn't a better option than Moses or Leslee at this point, then I'm not so sure he wasn't a "miss" by the coaching staff. I'm not writing the guy off, he could still improve tremendously....but wow, Leslee tries hard but at 6'8" with no knees and a 4" vertical, he's hardly a threat...and Moses.....oh, Moses.
  9. That Big Ten tourney collapse was near catastrophic. Affected us mentally and I'm still not sure it's completely healed...
  10. There we have it folks. The final circle of Nebraska Basketball Hell. The stage where we start to bring back names from our torrid past. "If only we would just have this guy and this guy from that team and that era, we'd be fine."Obviously we've been talking about missing Rey all year, but that's not uncommon for any team to miss a senior from the year before. But when we start bringing up the Conk's name, you know the season is over. Took us a while this year, proud of everyone. You miss my point jones. I was merely pointing out (in a thread talking about how nobody wants or is capable of shooting a three), that in the past we've had guys that were capable of shooting and more than willing to shoot the three. I've seen plenty of other threads where people have made comparisons to players from the past. Didn't know we were only allowed to talk about previous year's players, and after that it puts us in a circle of basketball hell. Why is bringing up Conklin's name to you a sign that our season is truly over? The guy shot 56% his Senior year from distance (66-118) and shot 65% from the outside in Big 12 play. Statistically he ranked 1st in the nation amongst all players with at least 20 3 point attempts. Yeah, talking about that sad sap surely means we're all doomed to hell.
  11. Honestly the Rhode Island game. The players pipe dream of an undefeated season came crashing down and they were hungover from that loss all the way into the UNO game, they got behind by quite a bit against UNO in the first half and Miles was quoted as saying that was them still being hungover from the Rhode Island game. I dunno, maybe they couldn't handle seeing an opposing team's fanbase storm the court because of them losing. It probably made them realize they were now the hunted.
  12. I noticed multiple times in the Iowa game where we didn't even catch a pass cleanly, it bobbled or a player took his eye off it and he almost lost it. One time Petteway was just dribbling on his own and lost it to the Iowa sideline. Lack of focus.
  13. Exactly. We run a Motion Offense but our players don't always execute it the way it's designed, and many are content not to move and start to just "watch" the action. Based on the conversation I had with Mike this past weekend, the offense is designed to pick apart switching defenses when mismatches can occur. They run the top of the key weave until a mismatch is identified and then taken advantage of. Last year on no sit sunday, look at how many times Petteway had a layup on Kaminsky, because Walt was up top and Kaminsky ended up switching on Petteway. Same with Shields. This year, it hasn't been as successful because I think other teams are wiser and giving Petteway and Shields a lot more attention than last. Some of our other players have to just shoot within the offense and not pump fake and then pass. Against Iowa, mulitple times Shavon would drive, take one or two dribbles, pick up his dribble, then pass back outside, hence, nothin' doing.
  14. Give me a starting 5 of Petteway, a confident (mentally confident) Shields, Brian Conklin, Cary Cochran, and Nate Johnson. I'm not sure we'd have many rebounds but it's not like we do now. At least Shields and Petteway would have plenty of room to drive because of the outside shooting of the others, and Nate's ability to drive as well.
