  1. I prefer Bolden over Pinder as well. The video I've seen of Pinder, he doesn't blow me away athletically and that's supposed to be his strong suit. Right now, I'm just hoping like heck we wind up with Robinson because he's athletic enough for his size and he has great hands. Bolden might or might not deserve to be a 4-star, but he looks better than Pinder who seems to me to be a little bit of a reach right now. Just my uneducated opinion. What about any of those kids from Team Africa that finished 3rd in that Adidas Nations tournament? A couple of them looked pretty solid in their win over Bolden, Pinder and team Australia. Norm, our connections are in Australia mate. I like Pinder a bunch. The video where he is on the news at the age of 16 dunking effortlessly works for me.
  2. I enjoyed Happy Trails when someone fouled out Three blind mice when the refs suck. ( can't do that anymore) And the were going to beat the hell out of you song. All involved band and crowd Anyone remember those days? Once against Okie State I believe the refs said something to the band about playing three blind mice. One of the loudest chants I ever heard in the Devaney ensued of three blind mice.
  3. For many years the Husker basketball team has followed the same script. This year we start following a new one.
  4. One of the things I like about Coach Miles is how much he understands RPI and KenPom numbers. I like when he is recruiting the feel I get is that he is not just taking dudes, but rather he is taking what he feels are pieces of a puzzle. I think we are building a team that has depth can get beat you multiple ways. These days coaches will scout you so well and try their best to take away your strength. Some teams have a strength so strong can just beat you anyway, I think our approach is beat you in a different way that night.
  5. Good Sign: Tai and Bolden talking on twitter. Bad sign: Idiots at UNL not distinguishing between New Zealand and Australia.
  6. I will park and walk from Waverly for an NCAA tournament team or conference championship.
  7. I think he is just one of the three kids that Adam Barnes is working with and bringing up the other two being Gilmore and Jojo.
  8. I like the formula. Skills, depth, interchangeable parts to create match-ups and most importantly shooters. We will still need the crazy athletes and we will get them.
  9. From the last video he seems very accurate.
  10. Two things: We have to be careful with the APR issue, which s why I think the transfer option is the best possibility. Miles is getting in early on some players for future classes. These relationships should and need to start paying off in 2014. I think bringing players on official visits into a sold out Pinnacle Bank and making the post season could be huge. Compared to the environment Atewe had on his visit for example which I thought stunk.
  11. Another thing to understand is that for Nebraska to compete with the blue bloods of college hoops it is going to take some longer time relationship building. Getting in early on a kid and sticking with them. For example: As a twitter follower and I can tell you that young "Jojo the show" is rocking a Nebraska shirt today. Kids that are sophomores are very impressionable. (I have one) Starting out young with these kids could eventually pay dividends. I think this first batch of recruits Miles is looking at are people some of whom were on the radar at CSU and St. Louis which makes sense and is not terrible company. Especially since it was what I would consider to be his second wave of CSU recruiting. A few years out he is building the relationships for Nebraska. I think he is off to a great start.
  12. 1) This is the building process. Unfortunately our first step is to compete with Minnesota, Iowa and Purdue or their other conference equivalents: Wake, Virginia, Okie State etc. (I do think Atewe had offers from K-State, Marquette etc.) 2) Look at the type of player we are recruiting. Versatile Shooters and more athletic bigs. How many teams in the Sweet 16 have front lines like Ubel, Almeida and Diaz? 3) Miles has taken diamonds in the rough and made them into solid teams. He is taking higher level diamonds in the rough now and is going to build something great. 4) Nothing wrong with beating out St. Louis and Charlotte etc. The A-10 is good hoops. I get the skepticism and party pooping, but the tide is truly turning. In 3 to 7 years at the helm, Miles takes us to our first Sweet 16.
  13. I agree. The CBI would have been fun, but they're laying the groundwork for the future. If they were just sitting on a beach somewhere sipping Mai Tais, I'd be more in favor of going to the CBI, but they're obviously using this time productively for recruiting. Good move IMO. We have the Tai we just need the Mai!!! I mean Sai!!!
  14. Sooooo much better than preparing for the CBI in my opinion.
  15. That's kinda my thoughts as well. We have guys on the roster whom I've never seen do those things as well as I've seen this guy do them on tape. And so we don't want him because no one else saw fit to offer him? This is like sneaking an under-the-radar kid. The kind of recruit we've always said we needed to find. Dylan Talley was a Binghamton transfer. What if we would have had the equivalent talent of 6-8 Dylan Talley's spread through out the roster at various positions? We would be not great but better. Diamonds in the rough, evaluation and coaching are going to be important here. Unless we would rather steal another BCS school's Shang Ping.
  16. This works during the "Honeymoon" period for a lot of coaches. I hope Coach Miles stays this way and does not get burnt by being frank and honest in year 3 or 4.
  17. Norm, I was thinking about this the other day. Is it finally going to get rolling for us or is Nebraska Basketball going to be like some of the football jobs that are impossible and destined to always be losers. I decided the differences were facilities investment and the fact that when we start winning the fans will fill the place. The only was to really flip things around is a massive focus on it and an investment. We got it.
  18. Dimes, The difference is the money. Money like that comes with an ROI. This time really is different.
  19. I have not posted too much on games this year, because I don't want to rip on players that I like that have been asked to do more than they are capable of. Here are my thoughts on the Wisconsin game: 1) Not sure Wisconsin is ever a team you want to play when hosting a recruit. They uglify a basketball game and we joined right in. 2) I used to not worry too much about the small group of fans that inexplicably chose to leave early. This time it pissed me off. The environment was poor and the crowd was lame. It was a close conference game. Stay to the end and make some noise. It did not make Nebraska look like a good/fun place to play for a visitor. 3) Miles is tip-toeing a line all year of trying to win some games and building for the future. I think he is doing it well. Sure you want Vucetic to see more time, but I don't think it does us any good in the building process to go 1-17 in the conference. 4) The way to score in today's basketball is to either straight out beat your man or command help and then kick to a shooter. We do not have anyone that has the quickness and driving skills yet to command help and we have one streaky shooter. Sometimes our best option is Ubel taking his man one on one with the nice set of post moves he has developed. Several times yesterday Wisconsin stopped one on one drives to the basket with ease. The shooters and drivers to make the motion offense work are coming and I think young guys like Shields have the potential to develop into better slashers.
  20. I should have known saying something about Akron would make a Creighton fan post. How is this: Penn State lost to LaSalle by 25.
  21. Penn State lost at home to Akron by 25. With their key injury I would put them last. But hey we will know soon enough.
  22. Personally, I love the glut of wings. We can create match-up problems all over the place. Sure we need another big a team that is long a verstatile all over the place will work just fine.
