I just wanted to say I am happiest for you guys (and others who I unintentionally neglected who have been following Husker Hoops for way more years than Matt & Scott & I). EVERY SINGLE PERSON HERE - I feel great for ALL OF US. But man... I'm so happy for those who have been around since Cipriano and Iba and even before. I just wanted you guys to know I was thinking about you today leading up to the selection - especially you, Jimmy. I haven't met some of you but I consider you friends. OK, off to watch a Nicholas Sparks movie with all this sap.17 points

Wanted to mention how many good minutes Diop gave us - he got really lost on defense only once, but he battled in there overall. And that little baseline jumper was pure. For someone who's played as little as he has, to be on that stage and look like he belonged against Illinois' front line was nice to see. It'll be a big offseason for him developmentally.14 points -
Keisei was amazing but don’t forget Brice had 23 points on 8 attempts. Damn that’s efficient.14 points

roscoe and 13 others reacted to The Polish Rifle for a topic
Probably an unpopular opinion but feel like Trev is a little soft with this move. Trev did a great job, and has legit gripes with university leadership, but let's not act like A&M is the standard of stability - their last president resigned due to political controversy less than a year ago. Trev was very well rewarded financially for his performance (top 10 nationally), had the freedom to do awesome stuff (renovations, vball day, ect), and up until 3 months ago was under an amazing school president. This president search seems to be not great, but at the first sign of rough waters (mind you no large university system is immune to these) and you abandon ship? Doesn't sit well with me.14 points -
NU Misc Stat Stuff at end of 23-24 Reg Season
Montana_85 F and 13 others reacted to OurDecay for a topic
Some may find of interest - nice payoff of silently compiling stats over the last few decades of a rough program I cannot help but love. Note: these rankings are over the last 44 seasons (1980-present) and include the coaching tenures of Iba, Nee, Collier, Sadler, Miles, Hoiberg. Rienk Mast’s 7.8 RPG is the best for a NU player since 2007-08 (Maric, 10.2) NU’s KenPom rank of #32 would be their best final ranking of all time (previous best: #35 (2007-08) NU’s scoring differential of +7.5 PPG is their 3rd-best in the last 40 seasons, behind +9.0 (1990-91), +7.6 (2003-04) NU’s scoring average of 76.8 PPG is NU’s best since 1995-96 (80.2) NU’s free throw shooting percentage of .754 is their second-best since 1980. In 2011-12 they shot .767. NU’s 12 conference wins is their second-most all time behind their 13 in 2017-18. NU’s NET ranking as of 3/11/24 is #37. Including NET’s predecessor RPI, that would be NU’s best ranking since their RPI of #19 in 1993-94. Double-Digit Wins: NU won 18 games by double-figures this year (9 non-con, 9 conference). This is the most since at least 1980. The top 10 in double-digit conference wins: 2023-24: 9 (18 total) *11 vs P6 teams* 1981-82: 8 (12 total) *8 vs P6 teams* 1997-98: 7 (13 total) *8 vs P6 teams* 2017-18: 7 (12 total) *7 vs P6 teams* 1990-91: 6 (18 total) *8 vs P6 teams* 1998-99: 6 (14 total) *7 vs P6 teams* 1980-81: 5 (7 total) *6 vs P6 teams* 1991-92: 5 (11 total) *7 vs P6 teams* 2005-06: 5 (11 total) *6 vs P6 teams* 2015-16: 5 (12 total) *6 vs P6 teams*14 points -

Hoiberg in the post game (when asked about the AD): "I'm all in on this place. I love it. I want to be here."13 points -
The posts you stopped making were just wanton political statements about who or who might not be in the White House or whatever hot button issue was on the radio at any particular time....just because you felt like it. For the most part I just let them go because if I dared to just make them disappear, then I had to deal with some tantrum about being repressive like I was the problem. How do you know that I haven't been moderating and that people just aren't throwing a fit over it? You're like the last person to lecture someone about decorum on this site. I don't particularly like off topic stuff on this site in general but I tolerate it if for no other reason I don't do this to be miserable about rules. A debate about who is on the All-Big 10 team? Of course. A back and forth about guilty until proven innocent for a guy from Illinois? Is that really what this site is about? As far as the politics of the university, it unfortunately seems a lot more germane than the legal status of Terrance Shannon, doesn't it? I honestly don't know who is to blame for Ted Carter and now Trev Alberts leaving. I'm willing to be uncomfortable about it though because it's regarding athletics at Nebraska.13 points

I want to thank my dad who bought 4 season tickets in 1988. He said “I think this Danny Nee could get us pretty good”. Enjoyed a fun run in the 90’s. Saw some great finishes against KU and other teams. Endured the end of Nee’s tenure, was hopeful for BC and his “disciplined” style of coaching. Was a proud member of the “6500” as one writer from the OWH coined us. Marveled at the talent of seeing Michael Beasley and Kevin Durant in person. Was entertained by Doc’s personality and him rolling out a bunch of under 6’ guards. Still can hear him call Sek “Sack” And I remember his emotional last press conference like it was yesterday. Introduced my son to PBA and Florida gulf coast’s dunk city - as we continued our season tickets w Tim Miles and Tommy Lee and the UNL drum line - and got hot w the Petteway 26 footers in east Lansing. No Sit Sunday is still my favorite sports moment I’ve ever had with my family. I remember not loving the Baylor matchup and marveled how tall they were. Took my son to every single Nebraska Basketball Buddies with my kids. I was a Miles fan. But was excited and hopeful when we hired Fred. And now, 10 years after Coach Miles got tossed from the game and watched it from the Creighton locker room, here we are. I will cry if we beat Texas A and M. I’m almost 50 and will cry and won’t care who sees me. Go Big Red!!!!!12 points -

Y'know, it's fine for him to chase his dream of making NFL type money. Couldn't do it as a player. Gets his break as an AD. That's all fine. It just really REALLY pisses me off that the timing of this is done when all the attention should be on Nebraska basketball right now, both men's and women's but especially men's because we're in some unchartered territory on the good end of things for once. This is unfair to those guys.12 points -

So much about my 1st game I DON'T remember. I do know I was not 10 yet so it should have been 67-68. It was a game late in the season vs Kansas at the Coliseum. I DO remember it was with my Dad so that automatically made it special. I remember we won and how excited Dad was to beat Kansas. And I remember being told what a good player we had in Stu Lantz.7 points

This stuff happens on the academic side all the time at state schools, especially at flagships in "hostile" territory where there is a political environment of being anti-public education. Deal with this all the time here in Oklahoma. There are politicians who make entire careers of bad mouthing intellectuals of all stripes. As someone that still takes students for private tutoring in advanced politics (when I'm healthy enough, obviously), it never ceases to amaze me how little our people know about their system andits unique little glitches But the one topic I get the most requests for teaching subcourses in is, of course, intersections between sports and politics. These two have been squabbling bedmates for years and it's nearly impossible to get clear separation between them. Edit: Okay, *now* I'm outta tis thread...sorry 'bout that6 points

I agree with Merlin that the most likely explanation is TA's disappointment with the leadership situation at UNL. But i feel it was his responsibility - after having signed a multi year contract - to be a pillar of stability. To stabilize the programs from his position on down. His not having done that .... well, for me I have never in my life been more disappointed in the decision of a public official. Not that I ever knew TA personally, and not that my opinion matters, I feel that I have never been more wrong in judging the character of a public official. We don't know that this part is true, so I will say "if true" his failure to alert anyone one in the department - not his top aides nor his coaches - that this was a possibility and to let them (and all fans) get first wind of this only via a leak from the Texas media .... and then to notify all the people who supported him only via e-mail .... well the most apt adjectives that come to mind for me are profane. So I will just say "cold blooded".6 points -

There may be a policy about politics on the board, but the politics caused Carter and now Trev to leave - politicians in the legislature and governor’s office trying to score points in the culture war by being adversarial towards the university and its budget play no small role here and why it has been 7 months and counting and we still don’t have a new university president. Property taxes fund local government entities like K-12. The portion of the university’s budget that comes from the state is derived from income and sales taxes.6 points -

Rhule very much came here in part because of Trev and Ted. Ted hiring away the A&M AD was the only reason there was an opening at A&M in the first place. Fred having possibly the best season in Nebrasketball history and who knows what’ll happen if we don’t have an AD. Now the next few weeks will be dominated by this story and not our basketball teams success. Just a crappy situation.6 points -

I agree! At this point, unless location is your biggest concern, our seed won’t be that big of a deal. We’re hand wringing over this because we feel slighted, and maybe we are. But the truth is 5 (maybe even 4) seeds through 11 seeds are all going to be very close in their metrics, signature wins, etc. There is no home advantage to the higher seed like batting last in baseball. It’s 40 minutes of basketball and I’m not going to feel overmatched against any team in the first round that we’re likely to play because of the little number next to their name in the bracket.6 points
