  1. That's an excellent point. Kinda says something about the perspective of where some people are coming from. "I'm a real Miles fan and support him completely, but unless he reels off the best season in program history, I'm done." That kind of thinking baffles me. But if you remind some of these guys that we don't exactly have a blue blood history and hiring a new coach hasn't proven to be a panacea in the past, they tell you that's a losers mentality and you're just satisfied with losing. Sigh.

  2. 5 of the 6 choices provided in the poll would constitute the greatest season in program history. That seems to be a giant flaw in this poll, since a season shouldn't have to be the best ever to be considered a success. Just make the NCAA tournament - IMO this is the minimum benchmark for a successful season. Got my vote. Need to win at least 1 game in NCAA tournament - if this happens, it makes this the best season we've ever had Need to win at least 2 games in NCAA tournament - this would constitute the greatest Nebrasketball season by a wide margin Win the Big 10 regular season conference title - ditto Win the Big 10 conference tournament title - this one's close, but I'd put a B1G tourney title over an old Big 8 title. So again, would likely make it our best season ever Set the school record for most wins in a season - most = greatest in an over-simplified way

  3. I would take anyone on this year's roster over anyone from the early-90s teams. I mean, those guys gotta be like 45 years old. No way they could play with the kids currently on the roster.

  8. I can recall many seasons that I would categorize as "successful" that don't meet this criteria. We probably shouldn't label "success" solely as something that has never been accomplished before.

  9. Disagree. Copeland and Palmer will not likely make the NBA. I will obviously pull for them, but it’s unlikely they make the incremental improvements they would need to as year-5 seniors. It’s the most talent we’ve had in 20 years, and I’m hoping for big things! ...But it’s not near the most talent we’ve ever had.

And... I think 5 on 5 all three of those teams have more talent than this years team. Maybe (I hope) time will show that this coming year's team was the best ever, but again I think you might be setting expectations a little high and under-appreciating the level of Tony Farmer, Rich King and Verson Hamilton

Hmm. We had a decade that included Strickland, Boone, Piakowski, Lue, Hamilton, Moore, Chandler, Boone, Ffriend, and a couple others that were NBA or very close to NBA level. We had a decade of high quality players.

Anything less than the Final Four would be a failure of epic proportions. They might as well dissolve the program if we don't win the National Championship.

I wish for the best for all Huskers but Kaminsky was the 9th overall pick in the NBA draft. To even mention Frank Kaminsky in this conversation is really unfair to Heiman by setting standards that he cannot hope to meet. He can have a hugely successful career here and not touch Kaminsky which I think is the best case scenario for him.

    Isabelle Bourne 2019

This is one recruit I'm really can't wait to see until she gets here. She has experience like we've seen very little of...before. The B1G may still be formidable, but she'll have a head start for sure. BIG THANKS to Kelsey ! (may have been a little Griffin recruiting behind the scenes) “I am beyond excited for both Issie and Nebraska Women’s Basketball!” Griffin posted on Twitter when Bourne committed. “I’ve been able to train with Issie and she’s talented, works hard, but above all else is a great person!” If Bourne’s anything close to Griffin — who had her Husker jersey retired in 2014 — Nebraska will be getting a steal.

  22. Win one game in the tourney. But, really, continue to play hard and put a bunch of talented, high character athletes on the court. Lay the foundation for the next decade of success with TM at the helm.

Because NU has never won an NCAA Tournament game I placed winning a game in the tourney makes it a successful season. In retrospect, last year with a 4th place B1G finish and 22 wins should be considered successful.

  24. Roby needs to work on his low-post game. He's too tall and athletic to rely on jumpers. Turn around J's, Up and under moves, Baby hooks should all be in his tool box.

I look at Redshirts as what would be best for both the team and the player...no redshirt this year and reserve minutes in 2018-2019 vs starter minutes in 2022-2023? No guarantees that Brady will be stud, but you give up that opportunity by playing him 8 minutes a game this year for possible 28 minutes a year as a 5th year senior if he becomes what we all want him to be.

  26. That's setting the bar kind of high. They could lose a game in Minneapolis in April and I'd still consider it a successful season.

From what I've heard, Lee must have showed up at Brady's best workout of the summer because he's been struggling mightily against Roby, Copeland and Borchardt. I'd say he probably still needs that redshirt year.
