Miles has never been an assistant coach in his life. He has been a head coach his entire adult life. He has been successful at building programs. He's not at the end of his career. He's employable. If we make the assumption that after a year he flames out and is fired it's very likely that he will be hired within a year for 3+ years. If you take that into consideration then extending him multiple years is not paying him 2+ million per year for x years; it's extending him for 2+ million minus what another school pays him. At the moment we're talking about handicapping Miles' ability to hire a good assistant and to recruit, which is critical. For a University that seems to pride itself on being clean in recruiting this is one way to invest in recruiting above board. If Miles isn't your guy, fine; why would you want to put the next guy at a starting disadvantage?

Unrealistic expectations? Dear god if anyone thinks this team shouldnt be in the tournament or on the bubble almost every year or every 2 years and has lower expectations then apathy has set in. No reason this program should be as bad as it is for as long as it has.

Because I feel like Nebraska basketball is capable of great things, and a little but like we are being pissed on.

With uconn taking Brendan Adams and tarin smith over the weekend( 2 smaller guards ) and only having 1 scholarship left for now it would seem they have no room for Xavier. Don’t know if it helps us but atleast he won’t follow Hunter it looks like

Yeah, Miles won 22 games with none of them being NCAA tourney games. That's some leverage, it's not a ton. He was obviously angling for 3 via the OWH. He was probably offered 1. You could split the difference and go 2, putting you at just under 4 years left. Miles would have already signed that because cheese and rice getting something done sooner is much better for all parties involved then later.

Giannis does not get the calls that other superstars seem to get. ON the final foul, had he had a Celtics across his chest and Not Bucks, that is a jump ball 100% of the time. The NBA protects its Brand teams and potential ratings....Teams like indiana and Milwaukee have to win convincingly or they really get screwed in close games by calls seemingly always going to the Brand teams (Celtics, Lakers, or teams with the top stars like Golden St and Cleveland). I am hoping the Giannis can become the star that Curry has become so Milwaukee can get the calls that Golden St or Cleveland gets...as they never got them before they got their stars.

Recruiting...Coaches want to sell themselves as they build their brand. Universities need o demand that coaches sell the University not so much the coaches...if you allow the coaches to sell recruits on the coaches and not the school, these things happen. If you own a company and allow your salespeople to be the brand, if they leave and go to a competitor, expect to lose a large chunk of sales....if they sold the company and the product, you build a bigger moat.

This is a really good point. Not only are we hurting the now with what is going on, but we are also hurting Miles in the next few years OR a new coach in the next few years.

"Easily"? Are u nuts. There is no recovery. We're a year out from knowing who our coach will be, and we can even start recruiting. The cupboard will be completely bare for Miles'' successor. We'll be going thru then"start from scratch" phase once again.

Acceptance....although our AD seemingly has invented a new stage called "Chewin'the Cud".

This isn't twitter or Rivals; don't bully people.

The problem is that it doesn’t have to be a “support one over the other”. I can be a fan of Moos and still believe that he’s handled this poorly. Part of the job as an AD is to do what it takes to support your team, help them win games and achieve success. On the surface, I don’t know how anyone can say that what’s going on right now is doing those things.

3 years of no support from the department. No one can survive that. It's been obvious for a month that this isn't going to end well, whether it is this month or the end of next season. Either support your coach or make a change. This is 2013 in football. No one learns. We'll be starting over from rock bottom once again.

I was thinking it would be better for our RPI if we played SCC, Nebraska Wesleyan, or Creighton Prep.
