Northern Iowa let a kid out of his LOI eight years ago when there was a coaching change at Creighton. The new Creighton coach and UNI coach were friendly. The kid might have made a difference at Northern Iowa!

Nice revisionist history, Sam. The program was a mess in the fall of 2017 as well. It was more than just a "bad fit". There was no accountability or discipline in the program from the get go in the Riley era. Strength and conditioning was a joke. Player development was non-existent. The Oline coach may have been the worst position coach in the history of the program. We gave up 54 to Minnesota, which didn't score another point in its final two games. Put all the lipstick you want on that pig, but we were a sorry, pitiful excuse for a football program in November, 2017. You can "shrug" the horrible hire by Eichorst all you want, but had the powers that be not acted decisively in the fall of 2017, we may have never recovered. I agree the program is now not in bad shape. We have seen dramatic, decisive leadership completely changing everything that was going on. The mess was addressed.

The football program is not in bad shape. Riley lost many games but left little-to-zero scars. It all ended amicably. Players have bought in to Frost, who brought his entire staff and thus has great continuity. If there were a Joe Ganz on hand, 9-3 wouldn't be out of the question. The roster at this moment is pretty good, especially on defense. The football program was in bad shape in spring 2015 though. It was a mess. If Frost takes it where people think he can, the three-year Riley era will be a "nice guy, bad fit" shrug.

What the heck does the FBI think it’s doing trying to cast these universities as fraud victims?! All of us should have such fraud misfortune thrust upon us: top-flight recruits showing up on our doorstep without working, much, to recruit them. Heck, yeah! We’ll take all the victimhood like that you can give us!! Oh . . . and yeah. There’s no way these fraud “victims” should have ever suspected something fishy amid their victimhood. It’s like a Ponzi Scheme “victim” who’s getting 75% return on investment: “We had no idea this might be too good to be true!” Yeah. Right. Here are the real victims of the fraudsters (the Dawkins and Gattos of this world): it’s the school’s who try to play by the rules! It’s the Huskers of this world. Get this, for example: the entire Robert Sallee debacle, from years past, was a self-reported issue by NU. No-one would have ever known about it without NU honesty and transparency. NU went to the Big XII to get absolution for what was, obviously, a technical error by a low-level employee. It should have been a slam-dunk absolution. But do you remember what happened? The Big XII said, “Nyet!” And, if I recall correctly, Kansas helped lead the charge on that result. Now . . . Kansas and other universities are the “victim” in this charade?! Seriously?

Assistant coaches usually don't stick around forever - the only ones we've had in the last 50 years that were here as long or longer than Kenya were Moe Iba (1971-80), Tom Baack (1978-86), Gary Bargen (1987-95), Jimmy Williams (1993-99), and Lynn Mitchem (1987-92).

Also, why force a kid to come here if he doesnt want too? Wasting a whole year of resources and coaching on a kid who is just gonna leave next spring seems really really really (insert really a hundred more times) dumb. That being said, hopefully after meeting with Miles and Co. any worries or doubts X Johnson has are squashed.

Kevin Ollie was only 6'2". Not sure about his post moves, but he is available.

I would not be saddened to see Kansas get hammered as well as any school that participated in these types of shenanigans.

The season ending banquet was nicely done as always. The food was good and so was the program. Coach does a great job as well as all those behind the scenes that put it together. Good booster turnout. Gbr

I agree with Sam on this one. Look at how the 2 coaches handled their firings. One did a press conference thanking everyone for his experience here. The other, in a closed door meeting with players, called his ex-boss a "see you next Tuesday". From a players' state of mind, one would have to think Riley left the program in better shape than did Bo. I think Riley will be remembered like Bill Jennings was. Good guy, had decent talent, couldn't get enough w's, and opened the door for a great coach to come here. How will Bo be remembered? I don't know. I'm just glad that saga is over.

Among the top 50 programs in the country, the list of ones that don't cheat appears to be much, much shorter than the list of ones that do.

For some people/programs, the only shame they feel is having been caught. Athletes will still want to go to Kansas to get exposure to get to the NBA, fans will still attend the games, coaches will still want to coach there if Self is no longer there, and sports fans will still watch Kansas play in the tournament. Depending on your moral compass, a shattered reputation can still be more valuable than no reputation at all.

Mark Turgeon played at Kansas; Bill Self coaches at Kansas. The two coaches appear to have been in a bidding war involving actual money -- illegal money -- for the services of at least one recruit. If these allegations prove true, it would be a HUGE stain on the reputation of Kansas. I'm not hoping for it. In fact, I'm hoping it isn't true. Turgeon's dad is apparently a great guy who lives here in Lincoln and, if memory serves, shines shoes at Firethorn country club. He's married to Maddie Simon's dad's mom. So, there's a bit of a Husker connection there. But there is some irony in the situation that former Jayhawk star Turgeon's bag men (allegedly) paid DeSousa to go to Maryland, but current Jayhawk coach Self's bag men (allegedly) paid him more. And, in a strange way, the one guy who (allegedly) used unethical means to obtain a commit has no standing to complain that someone else (allegedly) used even more unethical means to get him to decommit. I think the saying is "there is no honor among thieves."

The following observation may prove archaic; but I am of the belief that if the HEAD coach is released or leaves, the player signing should be allowed to vacate his letter of intent. If it is the assistant coach leaving, nope, the LOI should be honored.

Moos absolutely deserves credit for hiring Frost. He may not be the reason for it. But he was also the reason it didn’t get screwed up. He played it perfectly and was smart enough to use the resources he had and when to push the buttons. Anyone paying attention to Husker athletics knows that common sense hasn’t really been present in the ADs role since about 2002-2003 Moos was smart enough to not fuck it up and that’s easier said than done given our last two decades With that being said, and considering the awkward position he walked into because of Eichorsts’ dumbass, I’m willing to give Moos a shot

I really don't believe some folks here appreciate what's been going on behind the scenes with our basketball program. Let's start with the aggressive pursuit of Dana Altman, which our AD has denied, and many here believed him. Sorry, but that's nonsense. As I posted when this was going on a couple of weeks ago, Nebraska fans are not entitled to full disclosure from the AD about what's going on behind the scenes with the basketball program. He was asked about Altman, flat denied it (lying in the process), and I have no problem with that. It's not the type of information that needs to be admitted publicly. Altman turned us down, so it ended there. The AD is not going to admit that publicly. If you took his denial at face value, you may not understand how the game is played. If you believe Nebraska didn't make a very lucrative offer to Dana Altman, you've bought into a lie. Tim Miles and his staff were very aware of the offer to Altman. They're very well aware that the relationship between Nebraska and Miles is not a long-term partnership, but rather a temporary alliance out of convenience and, in reality, only set to continue for a while longer because the AD hasn't found "his guy" yet. Tim knows this because the AD has been more than honest with him in this regard. Tim knows the score and his assistants know the score. He understands that this entails the possibility that some will seek greener pastures. How could they not be expected to do so? He likely has encouraged them to take care of their business and do what they have to do. If you like Tim Miles and believe he's the future of this basketball program, you're entitled, but just know that the AD doesn't share your perspective. Tim's on borrowed time and is only still here because the home run hire the AD seeks has not been secured. Nebraska under Bill Moos is not prepared to accept a future in which the program continues to be a doormat in college basketball. I understand we just came off a very successful year by Nebraska standards, but the old standards that many here seem to accept as the appropriate reference are not considered to be acceptable by the people currently in charge of this athletic department. They've set their sights much higher and are no longer prepared to accept sustained mediocrity. Tim is a .500 coach at Nebraska who has not built anything sustainable from year to year. Some people believe that Miles and his staff are somehow "in limbo" as a result of the slow pace of Moos' progress in extending a new contract to Miles. While this may be true to an extent, there is very little uncertainty among the parties involved about the fact that the AD is not a Tim Miles fan and does not consider him to be the future of this program. So, there's no "in limbo" situation here. Kenya Hunter knew he was on a path that will soon hit a dead end, so he chose a different path. That's called being smart and taking care of your family. Anyone who has resentment toward Kenya has not correctly assessed the situation in my opinion.

The ten remaining players will all be able to contribute and would probably be enough players but only if we stay healthy. When was the last time that happened. We probably need another guard with experience even if only for one year.

12dozen yes preferred walk-ons happen in womens basketball. That is what Woody was when she first came to NU. fyi - Re: practice there is a practice squad of male students that the girls practice against every day so numbers are never an issue re: the scout team.

We need an Adidas bagman. What's the worst that could happen? We make a Sweet 16 run, have those awesome victories, and then have to vacate them? As long as this isn't a technology, I'm good with it.

We could flip this and ask how we had some of the best football and they had some of the worst. Sports is sports.
