  1. Us talking about the greatest dunk that never happened is very much a Nebraska Basketball thing

  3. uneblinstu is unavailable tonight, so I thought I'd get the ball rolling talking about what a horrible game we had on the boards, and how we should have blown them out, and how it was far closer than it should have been. But, in spite of all that, losing that lead on a 4-point play with 8 seconds left and then having James Palmer shoot a running 3-pointer at the buzzer was probably about as fun a way to win that game as you could have scripted it. I'll take it. Bring on Michigan.

  4. We've built up a lot of karma over the last few years of heartbreaking losses, we deserve this.

  8. My timing for the original post couldn't have been better. Tonight was Robys coming out party. He single handedly won us this game with big play after big play. His freakish athletic ability was on full display on the almost Michael Jordan dunk. His handles on full display with both hands. His basketball IQ - which is through the roof. Getting 10+ rebounds undersized at the 5. He is going to be BY FAR the best player of the Miles era - first team all big 10 as a senior - and a late first round NBA pick. He is grounded and won't stop working.

  9. A couple behind me left with us up by 2 under 1 minute. I asked if they knew how it ended and the guy deadpanned " we win on a last second 3."

  16. Really good article on women's basketball in Omaha newspaper. Some of the best press we've seen for a while on the team. http://www.omaha.com/huskers/womens-basketball/mckewon-with-amy-williams-in-charge-huskers-women-on-the/article_9e544728-be2d-5622-afab-1e36c70bbd9e.html

  17. As a current student at UNL, I can assure you that we will definitely provide the "Husker" . I might to try to start a fake shot clock countdown with the student section too. That's always really irritating when other teams do it.

  18. Against Michigan we played really great attacking offense in the first half and were a little loose on the defensive end. In the second half we played tough defense and did not really make enough shots. Hoping this is the game it all comes together.

  19. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I don't think Palmer played all that well. Yes he scored a lot of points, but most of those came on plays where a teammate made a great play to set him up. When he was asked to make a play, bad things happened...other than the one glorious exception with 0.3 seconds left. Copeland played like a guy trying to not pick up any fouls on rebounds. Just didn't hit the boards with any conviction. I started focusing on him anytime a shot went up, and it was almost embarrassing seeing how little effort he put in boxing out. Roby stuffed the stat sheet and did so many extra little things that don't make it into the box score. Take for example Palmer's dunk in the first half (the one where he curled around the right corner, took three long strides, and flushed it). That dunk ONLY happens because Roby sealed off his defender from helping like an absolute monster. Great seal. Otherwise, it is likely a blocked shot. This IMO is the best all-around game by a Husker this season. Evan was solid coming off the bench, but Gill was clearly off in his first start. I'm a little curious who the starters will be against the skunkbears.

  21. Should mention (if not already done) was Isaiah's sideline save that resulted in a dunk on the other end. He closed A LOT of space to save that ball. He also knocked a number of balls loose and so forth. The dude is a playa.

  23. Love Isaiah, but his career high in scoring is 12 points and he's a sophomore. Projecting him to a first round draft pick is a real stretch. Shavon had a 29-point game as a freshman, for example. Also keep in mind that IR's never the focus of opponents' defense, since he's usually the third or fourth option. I like IR's game, has good tools, but he hasn't even been starting for a mid-level Big Ten team and doesn't have one skill at an elite level. Can he get there? Sure, but he's probably in a pool of about 200 players who could "if they develop." Palmer has a lot going for him, but he's really inefficient as a high-usage guy. Very similar to Terran in that regard, but TP was better and didn't get drafted. So I'd go with Cope. Good size, think he could get his shot off against elite competition.

  25. Anyone eise find it a tad bit odd in a game where we didn't play well AND with no Jordy AND with foul trouble AND after playing almost the entire second half at Penn State (including OT) that Jack McVeigh couldn't even get on the floor one time tonight? Very odd.

  29. well, ya gotta win these kinds of games, too. but this team needs to step it up if it plans on going to the post season. They're living dangerously right now. That said, we usually lose games like this.
