  1. Tricky situation. This is a situation where I'd probably take the opinions of his teammates into consideration. If they want him back, I'd work out a solution to bring him back. College kids do stupid things.

    Leigha Brown is 'N'

I could be wrong of course, but Leigh may be a "player" from the word go, when she gets here. She just doesn't look "high school" when she plays. (at least from the videos of her I've seen) The 2018 recruited class is going to make us dangerous in the future. The 2018 and 2019 NU women's teams, have the makings to be pretty good !

Yes this is harder than people may think. Illinois has some talent. 0-5 but 3 of those 5 games went to overtime. We can't just "expect" to win, Need to come out with a strong effort.

  6. I like Jordie but that was a slap in the face to his team mates. If he decides not to go and the team finds a way to give him a pass and accept him back to the "brotherhood" then he better give 100% to this team. I believe we have a real shot at post season play and an even better shot next year. Team chemistry is huge and that was a very selfish move by Jordie. I know he is young and I probably made some pretty selfish moves when I was young as well. I wish Jordie the best and I hope he somehow makes it right with his team mates and we win some games going forward. I guess time will tell. With or with out him I think we have one of the best teams we have had since the Danny Nee days and I think the future is bright for Nebraska basketball! GBR!

  13. Like mentioned before.....Gustofson (sp) is the one we need to stop. If she's hot and we can't slow her down a bunch...will be a long night. She's more mobile than Thome, and a bigger scorer. We double teamed Thome pretty effectively...must do the same to Gustofson. She's a little harder to guard too. It will a bigger task for the freshman Cain. But Iowa doesn't have a Flehearty either. Mich might have a little physically stronger team than Iowa, but Iowa is a pretty complete overall team. We need to rebound better ....Coach probably has but the rebounding bug in our girls ears. Iowa will be out in full force after losing to the boiler makers. Will be another barn burner...I hope. I like how were so super competitive now.. Has come a year sooner than I expected.....even when looking through my rose colored glasses

  22. Here is the deal, there is confusion. The confusion is not the fault of the fans, and it doesn't appear to be the fault of the team or the coaches. One individual chose to create the confusion. So if there is angst towards that individual, if there is speculation, if there are assumptions or rumors, it is because of the actions or non-actions of that individual. This needs to be cleaned up without further delay. I am trying to remember anything like this happening quite like this. I guess the closest is the Biggs situation. But again, it needs to be resolved now! And oh, that was a heck of a finish to the Viking v. Saints game today. I wonder of Gene will be refereeing our game tomorrow night!

  23. I don't get where people are talking about his "handlers." Does anyone know that he actually has handlers? I think he just has a big (literally) family that cares about him. They may be in his ear, they may be giving him bad advice, who knows. I don't think it is a great thing to do to your teammates, but I think there could be a lot more factors going on in the young man's head than we realize. This will get worked out in the next few days and we will either move on without him or the team will work through taking him back. Not an ideal time to deal with it that is for sure. I will root for who is out there this week because it is a big week to protect the vault.

  24. Every basketball program complains about the effectiveness of their crowd. 8,440 of the fans at PSU made no noise at all Friday night. Because they weren't even there! Yet, somehow, their team was able to overcome this obstacle and win the game. Keeping track of who stands and for how long, who yells and how loudly, who arrives late and leaves early, are petty complaints. More important things to worry about. 4 pages now, and nobody has explained yet about how selling beer will fix everything! What's up with that?

NU plus 5.5. Again, one would think the line would be higher with a home game against an 0-5 team ( kind of sound like Doc there, starting out with "again"). Vegas continues not to think much of us. Time to earn some respect, if not money.

    New Starter?

I have heard the staff will start Gill over Taylor this evening. IMO, if true Gill has earned it and while Taylor provides us with solid defense he only has two made buckets in the past four games.

    New Starter?

I hope Gill gets put out there, it seems to me he has earned it and while taylor provides leadership and definite d, we need buckets at the end of the day to win, and he brings that while not killing us on D. With that said, I really don't think whomever starts is a big deal but I do think Gill has earned some more minutes, where/who that is taken from is an even tougher question..depth is great

I Hope your wrong with Baylor The Top expert on that site has him predicted to Nebraska along with 1 other expert (Although I am not sure if its Ok to call them Experts but that's what they are called on there :)). So 2 out of 3 have him to Nebraska

  35. The closest thing I can recall (different sport) is Eric Crouch and the rumors that he was leaving the team as a freshman IIRC. He came back and had some noteworthy accomplishments. I prefer it be done quickly, but if the coach and the team take him back, I'm ok with that.

  36. lol. how do you go from asking for your scholarship release to 'needed a mental break'. my guess is he realized he'd have to take 18 months off from basketball if he left and now wants to hang around a little longer. won't be surprised when he leaves in the offseason, which is why i'd rather just cut ties with him now.

  38. I would imagine that if Miles feels like he's a cancer to the team, he's more than willing to part ways with Jordy. But if Jordy can be a team player after this, Miles is more than willing to retain Jordy. We've seen both situations happen with Biggs and Borchardt.
    1 point
  39. WTF...so I assume common sense kicked in for the advisors who realized they were screwing Jordy by having him leave right now...what a cluster. Good grief. The team leaders will need to do some damage control and fans have to try to support a player that may or may not be a Husker for the long haul. Here is the deal, I like Jordy and believe that if he improves, he can really elevate the team. But the past few days has cast a cloud...it really has.

  40. His "advisors" must have finally realized how fricking ludicrous the timing of his requested release was. Well, hope he and they learned, and he improves as a player.

  42. free throws: mich 15-19 78.9% huskers 6-13 46.2% well, that isn't going to help improve the huskers ft standings in the big ten: 14th @ 61.3% over the season, i was hoping by now they would be inching near that 70% mark, but, it appears it is going to be rather tough sledding. overall, this just appears to be a team that has a tough time with free throws (with a few exceptions, of course). maybe they can take a bit of a turn the rest of the way.

  43. Nicea's blocked shot: Fully agree from a game play concept you don't want to foul in three point land. But the greater concern for the game of basketball.....is the ref's call should never change the outcome of the game. In this case it clearly did, as proven by the video and picture evidence.

  45. I went to the Ohio State-Michigan State game last week. They had the #1 team in town and couldn't sell out. I also didn't think it got as loud there as it did during the KU game and the Buckeyes were laying the wood on the #1 team in the nation. While a small sample size, I can't help but think PBA's crowd holds its own.

  46. I feel like a wimp, but ever since having kids I just don't make it out to games very often. When I do go it's usually because someone gave me a free pair of tickets or it's a weekend day game. I will make a more concerted effort to be a regular again once the kids are older. It's pretty tough though when one's less than a year old and the other is 3.

  47. Ha, I drive out a couple times a year from Denver with my 8 year old who is a brain-washed die-hard Nebrasketball fan. We drove out for the Stetson game (not my first choice of games, but it fell at a good time with his Winter break) and that crowd was lousy. However, everyone in the stands deserves a pass for that game given how putrid the shooting and overall basketball was. The halftime show with the back flippers was sadly the highlight for most that night!

  48. This is my virgin post on the Haymarket Hardwood and I can't believe it took me so long to stumble upon this website. I guess I wasn't looking hard enough on the internet but it's nice to know that there are other crazy Nebrasketball fans out there. We are a special breed, much like Cubs fans prior to their world series win and current Cleveland Browns fans - crazy, passionate and obviously we were all likely dropped on our heads during our formative years. Anyways, extremely disappointed in Jordy's decision making process. Nothing like hanging your teammates out to dry at a critical juncture in the season. This does have a similar look to the Deverell Biggs situation back in 2014 but I always thought that Biggs was more of a "me-first" player and likely a cancer in the locker room. That one decidedly felt like addition by subtraction. I've never for one second thought that of Jordy. He appears to be well liked and respected by his teammates. At the end of the Wisconsin game when Jordy fouled out, I noticed that Miles patted him on the back and Kenya and him exchanged several words before Jordy sat down. It struck me that it was likely a pseudo father/son moment and I assumed that Kenya was telling him how proud he was of his play and that's what his potential is and the expectation for him was going forward this year. As everyone has stated, the timing in all this is just completely baffling. I'm hoping and expecting that they roll with Okeke tonight as the starter. Our center does not need to provide offense. We need a big body that can bang with the opposing center, take up space and be a defensive presence around the rim. Okeke and Borchardt are far better at that then Jordy and neither of them demand the ball on offense. Maybe this is also the spark Roby needs to become more aggressive and a force. Of course, doing this without fouling is a huge ask of Roby. Hopefully this is a unifying event for this team and they play a complete 40 minutes of basketball tonight, which in my opinion, we haven't seen this team do this year. Here's to hoping for an inspired performance tonight against Penn State!!! Also, can't wait to partake next year in the picks contest - so bummed I didn't find this message board much sooner!!!
