  1. The past few years my son has attended the Husker buddies event that Coach Miles puts on. First year my son attends it’s at PBA and he plays Tarin Smith one on one. Last year at the event he plays both Morrow and Jacobsen one on one. This year, a few weeks ago, of course he plays Jordy. BTW, this is his last year attending, next year he’s too old. So, the Roster should stabilize.

  2. This is my virgin post on the Haymarket Hardwood and I can't believe it took me so long to stumble upon this website. I guess I wasn't looking hard enough on the internet but it's nice to know that there are other crazy Nebrasketball fans out there. We are a special breed, much like Cubs fans prior to their world series win and current Cleveland Browns fans - crazy, passionate and obviously we were all likely dropped on our heads during our formative years. Anyways, extremely disappointed in Jordy's decision making process. Nothing like hanging your teammates out to dry at a critical juncture in the season. This does have a similar look to the Deverell Biggs situation back in 2014 but I always thought that Biggs was more of a "me-first" player and likely a cancer in the locker room. That one decidedly felt like addition by subtraction. I've never for one second thought that of Jordy. He appears to be well liked and respected by his teammates. At the end of the Wisconsin game when Jordy fouled out, I noticed that Miles patted him on the back and Kenya and him exchanged several words before Jordy sat down. It struck me that it was likely a pseudo father/son moment and I assumed that Kenya was telling him how proud he was of his play and that's what his potential is and the expectation for him was going forward this year. As everyone has stated, the timing in all this is just completely baffling. I'm hoping and expecting that they roll with Okeke tonight as the starter. Our center does not need to provide offense. We need a big body that can bang with the opposing center, take up space and be a defensive presence around the rim. Okeke and Borchardt are far better at that then Jordy and neither of them demand the ball on offense. Maybe this is also the spark Roby needs to become more aggressive and a force. Of course, doing this without fouling is a huge ask of Roby. Hopefully this is a unifying event for this team and they play a complete 40 minutes of basketball tonight, which in my opinion, we haven't seen this team do this year. Here's to hoping for an inspired performance tonight against Penn State!!! Also, can't wait to partake next year in the picks contest - so bummed I didn't find this message board much sooner!!!

  3. If the reason is "he's frustrated with his development," it might be time to be a man, look in the mirror and take some ownership. His coach has STOOD BEHIND HIM with starting him EVERY SINGLE GAME and he just improved a lot his last time out. Stick it out, Jordy. It's not always someone else's fault when things aren't going well, and you aren't that far from being where you want to be. Plus, I thought we were a TEAM here.

  4. Let me guess. He wants to be utilized more as a 3.

  5. Likely not a popular opinion, but I have to get this off my chest: If true and his pending transfer is due to him being unhappy about how the season is going for him, it might be one of the more selfish decisions I've seen in some time. I have some reservations about Miles & Company on several things, but it appears to me the staff has gone above and beyond trying to get this guy going. He's been given opportunity after opportunity this year and outside of the Wisconsin game, has been mostly ineffective. To quit on his team at this point in the season is about as "me first" as it gets.

  6. If that’s what you meant then you should have said just that without the disparaging remarks.

  7. What Miles could do is develop players better. If that is part of the issue here, which it sounds like it may be, then I do get it a little bit. This staff has not developed players all that well in my opinion, and we have to be able to do that, so we are less reliant on transfers.

  8. Haha, good to know and appreciate the advice. FWIW, I found the thread you were referring to: Also, I coach my son's 8 year old basketball team. His 7 year old team, which I also coached, went undefeated. His last soccer team I coached lost every game. I will profess to be a basketball coaching guru; its obvious, I have the 6 inch trophy to prove it. I will not offer any opinions on anything related to Nebraska soccer as I know my limitations.

  9. Good first post. How are you with semicolons? You probably need some remedial training on HHC inside jokes. I did a thread on this a few years ago. I don't know if you can do a search and find it, but it covers topics like official tweets and coaching championship-level, junior high girls basketball. Welcome.

  10. In this day and age it's hazardous to count on what's coming back next year. Sometimes even what's coming back next week.

  11. Wait a minute - Jordy is transferring to the Deshler Dragons? He'll get more playing time and development there, I guess.

  12. Ha, I drive out a couple times a year from Denver with my 8 year old who is a brain-washed die-hard Nebrasketball fan. We drove out for the Stetson game (not my first choice of games, but it fell at a good time with his Winter break) and that crowd was lousy. However, everyone in the stands deserves a pass for that game given how putrid the shooting and overall basketball was. The halftime show with the back flippers was sadly the highlight for most that night!

  16. I propose we change the name of this thread to "Rumour de jour" In honor of Jordy's Canadian heritage

  17. You need to get on this guy the next game because that cursing is completely unacceptable. I think you'll find that others in your section will have your back on this. Hey man, if you have dump on everyone at least stop cursing because my and everyone else's kids are here.

  20. RE Jordy hearing the footsteps of incoming recruits: Why leave before they even get here? To me, him and/or family members are not happy with what's going on in the present, not the future.

  21. Jacobson was even more recent. Only say it since he went after White about leaving and then did the same thing.

  32. Tai Webster is the single most improved player from Fr-Sr that I've ever seen put on a Husker uniform on both offense and defense. Shavon's highest 3pt % happened as a Sr. Benny Parker's highest 3pt % happened as a Sr. Andrew White's highest 3pt % happened at Nebraska. David Rivers' highest FG % happened as a Sr. Ray Gallegos' highest FG % happened as a Sr. I guess I don't really get that argument. Most players improve their shooting very incrementally regardless of coaching. Someone else was mentioning not having 4-year players, but we're exactly on par with the rest of college basketball's crazy attrition. In some ways, attrition is a good sign because it means you actually have talent on the bench who think they can contribute elsewhere. I am wholeheartedly in the camp that Miles' in-game coaching is totally up for debate. Having said that, I've been very impressed with the in-game rotation and defensive adjustments I've seen this year. Miles has been an absolutely relentless recruiter, so I'm cool with the in-game philosophy having a longer leash given how excellent his recruiting results have been. We're seeing the recruiting pay off for his coaching philosophy this season. Gotta have the guys to run the system. You can't get away with subpar talent in basketball in the B1G. Make the tournament this year, and I think Miles is over the hump in both recruiting and coaching philosophy and Nebraska will enter the world of perennial bubble team.

  33. I have friends (really I do) that drive to every game from Gothenburg and stay to the end, and then drive home again. There have been few games that they missed, typically when major weather is a factor.

  34. I feel like a wimp, but ever since having kids I just don't make it out to games very often. When I do go it's usually because someone gave me a free pair of tickets or it's a weekend day game. I will make a more concerted effort to be a regular again once the kids are older. It's pretty tough though when one's less than a year old and the other is 3.

  35. Million dollar idea: sell a measuring tape that is off by an exact ratio of 1 to 1.5. That way you can "prove" that the 6" trophy is actually 9". Would solve a lot of marital arguments.

I find it hard to believe we are going to get to 22 or 23 wins; mostly because I am an embattled Nebraska fan. But optimistically I find it harder to believe we would lose 5 in a row.

  38. Coach Hunter helped develop big men while at Georgetown, did he lose a significant amount of brain cells between then and now? It is my understanding that a lot of work goes into the development of players, I am not convinced the lack of development (if that is real or perceived) falls solely on the coaches.

  41. Been to every home game this season. Not bragging, just saying I’ve seen some dead crowds this season and some better ones. Thought the crowd VS Minny was pretty good. KU game had its moments. Even a few times VS. BC too. Personally, I was disappointed in the Husker Power chant for the Wiscy game. They even flash the spot lights now to help (this started after the Eichorst departure) My seats are in the front row of the 200 level, above the student section behind the hoop. I swear to you, 90% of them just cross their arms or don’t do anything or are on their phones during the opponent’s free throws. Come on students, put some effort into it. Pet Peeve #1: Fans leaving way early. I drive from Omaha and understand sneaking out with a minute left if the game is well in hand. But fans start the walk with 9 minutes left, and each deadball more and more leave. New Pet Peeve #2: I’ve had my same seats since PBA has opened. New guys sitting behind me this year. Initially seemed like good fans, but the one guy drops an F bomb almost every fourth word. F’in Evan Taylor, F’in refs, F’in Miles, F’in Jordy sucks, F’in had a burger, the walk was F’in cold, these hot dogs are F’in good, what the F type of shot was that Copeland? F’in drive the ball Roby, F’in Glynn sucks tonight, etc, etc. Now, I’m not saying PBA needs to be like church. I get into the games and cheer and yell and scream Go Big Red with the best of them. But I bring my 11 year old to the games and honestly won’t bring my 8 year old daughter, I don’t want her exposed to 75 F bombs per game. And I don’t like it when guys who don’t look like they can even play rec ball call our players dumbasses and dumbsh#* either. I would think most people who talk like that would perhaps try to show some restraint around younger kids, but this guy must not care. He only has showed up to the bigger games, but it’s certainly made going to the games a little less fun.

  42. Really hot take here... but we shouldn’t lose a game to Iowa or Illinois this year.

  43. Unless something has changed, a player who transfers mid year will lose a season of play. He will end up playing 2 full and 2 half seasons. So unless things are really bad, it seems incredibly short sighted.

  44. I went to the game Tuesday, my first this year. The only other game I've seen at PBA was last year's Purdue game, so I'm 2 and 0! There was something different about this one. Maybe it was me. I was nervous from the get-go, and the Huskers never got a lead big enough to alleviate my fears. Some random thoughts I had during the game pertaining to this thread: 1) Times have changed. Everyone focuses on the big screen to see what's going on or if they are on it. Many people are on mobile devices during the game. Hard to stand up and clap when you're hands are occupied. 2) Always some production going on during dead times. Guess the movie, catch the t shirt, dance on the big screen. That's fine. It is what it is. 3) I've gotten old. What made me stand up and yell 30 years ago doesn't work for people today. I understand. That's part of life. 4) "ISCONSON" we'll take the"W" sign, is an indictment of our university system. To sum this all up, there's no answer to get all 15,000 people on their feet anymore. What excites on age group, does nothing for another. All I can say is just win Huskers, and this will never be a point of discussion.

  46. If he hasn't made up his mind, this is an even more selfish decision than having already made up his mind to leave right now. If he hasn't made up his mind, that is fine, but don't bring it out now with the team doing well and a game tomorrow. There is no reason for him to have stayed home... only to be on the team a few days from now. Very very selfish. This can throw everything out of whack. The more I think about this, and the more that comes out, the more pissed I am about how this is playing out. Don't leave your teammates hanging out to dry while you sort out your issues... Oh man am I getting more pissed just by typing this. Thirsty Thursday is about to turn into Thirty Thursday. UGH!

I'd rather have Eades on the road. He gets super pissy when crowds start booing him, and starts stickin' it to the home team as a response. If you go back through your memories of Eades screwing Nebraska, I think you'll find almost all of them to be home games.
