  1. I'd pretty much do anything not to go to Penn State, either, but this seems extreme.

  2. Wow, if he transfers, comments like this sure as hell don't help. Don't forget guys like Tai Webster and Frank Kaminsky didn't exactly light it up their first two seasons.

  4. One thing I saw in this game that I loved was the defensive help & rotations. Since we were doubling Happ so often, guys had to fill the hole the player doubling down left. More often than not, when a Wisc player seemed open off of a pass out of a double, somebody would close out, and the same thing would happen if it was passed again. Something that can go relatively unnoticed, but is extremely important. Good work there from Miles and Co. to have the players ready for that.

True! I never thought of it that way. Maybe our fans should start a "Thank You Tom" chant. Or a "We Love Tom" chant. Man it'd be 8 fouls to 1 by the 16:00 mark.

I'd rather have Eades on the road. He gets super pissy when crowds start booing him, and starts stickin' it to the home team as a response. If you go back through your memories of Eades screwing Nebraska, I think you'll find almost all of them to be home games.

  14. I'm somewhere just below 40 and have moved up about 1 spot each of the last few weeks. If the season extends another 9 or 10 months, I should be right in the thick of things. Look out KenPom, I'm on the way.

  15. Likely not a popular opinion, but I have to get this off my chest: If true and his pending transfer is due to him being unhappy about how the season is going for him, it might be one of the more selfish decisions I've seen in some time. I have some reservations about Miles & Company on several things, but it appears to me the staff has gone above and beyond trying to get this guy going. He's been given opportunity after opportunity this year and outside of the Wisconsin game, has been mostly ineffective. To quit on his team at this point in the season is about as "me first" as it gets.

  18. I thought part of the problem against Wiscy was the pace of play and the lack of runs. There were times that the crowd was ready to explode and then sat back down due to badly executed offense, a time out or a foul.

  21. If he hasn't made up his mind, this is an even more selfish decision than having already made up his mind to leave right now. If he hasn't made up his mind, that is fine, but don't bring it out now with the team doing well and a game tomorrow. There is no reason for him to have stayed home... only to be on the team a few days from now. Very very selfish. This can throw everything out of whack. The more I think about this, and the more that comes out, the more pissed I am about how this is playing out. Don't leave your teammates hanging out to dry while you sort out your issues... Oh man am I getting more pissed just by typing this. Thirsty Thursday is about to turn into Thirty Thursday. UGH!

  22. I will start out by saying that I 100% do not want Jordy to transfer. I think that he has a huge upside and I hope these rumors are not true. We will need him in the future. Not just games this year, but future years as well. I will say however, that of our entire rotation that we currently play, this isn't HUGE HUGE. It's big because he is a BIG and depth will be a concern. However, he isn't putting up 15-20 PPG each night. We will miss Jordy if this is true. We certainly need him. Please lord let this be a rumor....

  23. I think one of the biggest problems -- and I've said this before only to be told "we'd cheer if we just had something to cheer about" -- is the physical structure of the building. We're going to have to come up with innovative ways of overcoming the fact that fans in the various bowls are separated from each other. In Devaney, I could start a cheer that would filter down. No longer. If I stood up and waived my arms up, people behind me would see and stand as well. And the crowd in the area would join in. No longer. There's a physical barrier that basically acts as a baffle that keeps cheers from spreading throughout the arena. It's one of the reasons I think we have to do that Husker Power intro chant with gusto. Because it's a cheer that actually spreads throughout the whole place. One of the things I think that would REALLY help develop some unity and continuity in cheers is if we brought the dudes back. Or at least gave some guys in the red zone some megaphones with instructions to start some "DEEE-Fense (clap clap)" cheers, etc. If you don't have that, I'm not sure how you get a cheer to spread throughout the arena and get the place really loud.

Yep. We're going to be just as or more athletic than most every team we play. We can match up with every team we play. It will all come down to effort and urgency. Can't take anyone for granted. We should not fall into the "taking someone for granted" category yet no matter if the conference was up or down. We haven't earned that and we were the ones getting taken for granted most years in the past. We need to play like we have something to prove. Why? We do have something to prove, and we have not proven it yet.

  29. I personally am not mad, but I was a bit disappointed and perhaps surprised. I would have thought that opportunities would have been there before this time. It sort of makes it look like basketball is either not a priority and/or important.

20+ wins and 1. No bad losses, eg Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Rutgers. The losses to St Johns and UCF are looking better. 2. No home losses, eg Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, Rutgers, Maryland, Indiana, Penn State. With No. 1 & 2 equals 8 wins for 20 total. 3. Split the remaining road games, tOSU, Minn, PSU, and Wisconsin, equals 22 wins. Do not not focus on signature wins as none of the remaining games are really huge. The schedule is solid but not spectacular. Just win baby and limit losses. I am most concerned with Michigan and tOSU. Michigan just seems to have our number. They were the only team to beat us at home in 2014. Must have win this year.

  35. Jimmy, you hit on an interesting point. There were a number of "fans" who left early last night. I always wonder about the reasoning. Did they truly believe the game was over when they left? Did they have a collective meeting to attend? Were their collective parking meters about to expire? Did they have medicine to take? Were they bored? For those of us who do not leave early, it is hard to comprehend the reasons for leaving early...

Carr is also 6'5". Putting Glynn on Shep Gardner (6'2" doesn't draw contact because he only shoots 3s) makes sense with Taylor/Gill handling Carr. We'll see what happens. We can probably run 1-3-1 on these guys as well.

  39. I guess all I can say is trust me, that is not the case. Basketball and other sports besides football are very important to this regime. I would review Green's speech when SE was fired. Winning is now a priority, competing is a standard which will be judged, vs. energy and social causes and all sorts of other weird crap.

Do we want Rutgers or MSU to win? I probably shouldn't look at every game for the rest of the year in terms of who I want to win based on the very minuscule chance it gives Nebraska a better chance to make the tournament, but I do.

  45. Totally agree with your comment on Eades. He lectured Evan Taylor after he shot the ball from the foul line after the whistle blew so they could check who was fouled. Evans flicked up a shot and missed and you can see Eades telling him that he should make him have only one shot left. The shooter was then switched to Glynn. Why doesn't your crew figure out was fouled and get the right shooter to the line in the first place? There are only 5 dudes to choose from. Boom!
