The combination of Isaac and Isaiah are impressive. When they are on the floor together they protect the rim, they are athletic, they compliment each other, they stretch the defense, they are long, et al.

  3. I think what sets this board apart from others is that Nebraskteball is a relatively niche fanbase. You've got a bunch of Husker fans that cheer for DONU hoops to fill the time between football and baseball, a bunch of others that are Jayskers , and a bunch that basically ignore basketball altogether. What's left is a relatively small and passionate fanbase of true Nebrasketball fans. And you know what a small, passionate group of people gets you: "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizensHusker fans can change the world actually have a meaningful, competent internet conversation."

  4. Late to the thread here. Was there a reason given as to why Palmer was on the bench for an extended time during crunch time in the second half? Also, I continue to have nightmares about the sequence where we fought back to a one-point deficit and Copeland missed a point blank shot at the rim. Creighton goes down and Foster gets an "and-one". That was a 5 point swing. Gotta move on....Good news is this team is way better than in previous years, and we have lots of room to grow. We haven't played anywhere near our best basketball. I think we need to get over some mental barriers and learn how to win games against good teams on the road.

I have said before, and I'll say again, that Minnesota's run last season was shockingly similar to ours in 2014...just amazingly similar. It's beginning to look like they could suffer a similar fate the following year that we did. Still early though. Drake leading 23-15 now with just under 5 minutes left in the first half.

  7. i'm going to date myself here a bit but back in 1967 I was living in Seattle Wa. and we just were awarded an expansion Pro team the Seattle Supersonics. My buddy and I each bought a season ticket for 41 home games at the cost of $102.50 for the season. That team was made up of players that were available from other teams in a draft process. i will never forget those early seasons out there especially when the great Lenny Wilkins came in as player coach. They basically played hard and for each other with great team chemistry. This NU WBB team plays the same way. It's the type of ball that the fans will fall in love with. We're not world beaters yet but congrats to coach Williams for getting the players on the same page in her second year.

  11. You have to understand that many of those fans are at the game; yet they would rather stand in the spot above the north basket that sells beer. I think it was cheap beer night! Many jayshers have to get f***ed up to be a jays bball fan.

  12. However, if they burn it to the ground this year and that helps us sneak out of Minneapolis with a W, I'm not going to be too upset if it's not a top 50 win.

  13. We need Minny to get their poop in a group. That win needs to look good and for that to happen, they need to win.

  15. Hard not to be upset about it, took a lot of fire power away from us in the first half with their foul a minute rate for the first 8 to 9 minutes. Stick us into a rotation night mare. Someone mentioned in one of the threads they wished we had been further ahead at half. Had we not had half our rotation on the bench with 2 fouls we probably would have been. A couple guys logged a lot of minutes early trying to eat minutes. Again, given the style of play BOTH teams were playing 17 foul shots to 3 is just unacceptable but what I have come to expect playing in Omaha.

  16. CU struggled in the second half against the Baylor 1-3-1 which is a bit different in part because of the length they throw on the floor. Coach Mac had said they prepared for the Huskers to go 1-3-1 and practiced it all week. He said the zone you all run is similar to Xavier's so there was familiarity. I hadn't been able to watch much Husker Hoops this year and I came away extremely impressed with your team. So many talent upgrades across the lineup. Glynn Watson is the absolute real deal. Definitely didn't have the deer in the headlight look like in year's past. Seems like you are some solid post play away from being top half of the B1G. Best of luck the rest of the way!

  17. A good tidbit from Flo: This should serve NU well going forward. It was clear that the Huskers came to play, and will continue to do so. GBR

  18. Also our game plan to use their tempo against them was a big part of the reason why we were leading at halftime on the road.

  19. It is possible to be disappointed and dissatisfied with the outcome of a game while at the same time be able to see some positives. That's what every coach does with the game tape. You find the things that need cleaned up and reinforce the positive things their team accomplished.

  20. The reality is Miles is now 0-6 but he was not the reason for this one. We struggled to score in the second half. The times we got our best look at shots and actually scored was after timeouts. He did a very good job with the whiteboard today. Let's say Jordy can make layups or say there are only two egregious calls that went against us instead of the plethora we experienced. Lot ways that game could have have been different today and I'm frustrated it ended that way. I don't know if you are in the camp, I don't pay enough attention to who posts what, but the "Yea! We won and are going to the dance!/Shit! We lost. Got fire MIles now" crowd is really annoying. That is the group I think is the most childish. Instant gratification is their way of life.

  21. OK watched Watson's 5th foul now - obviously ridiculous. That was is bad as the call on Roby vs. Minnesota that went viral. Someone needs to post a clip of that foul call also. Outside of the officiating the game was both encouraging and frustrating. Athletically we really outmatched Creighton much of the time and certainly were competitive and gave good effort. A couple things go our way at the right time and we would have gotten a win over a top 25 team on the road - that doesn't happen often. I did think we had some really strange lineups on the floor at times (Copeland with 4 guards at one point - not sure if Taylor or Gill was the 4?" - also had Roby, Copeland and Duby all on the floor at one point which was unusual in the opposite direction.). Obviously some of that was caused by foul trouble - particularly the fact that we had to give so many minutes to Jack who just got abused on the defensive end. You could really tell Glynn Watson wanted this win - certainly hope we can get it for him next year for his senior season. Copeland and Palmer both had very nice games. Roby as well in very limited minutes - he needs to find a way to avoid getting those cheap fouls. Gill continues to give us more than I expected. I wish Evan Taylor would avoid those times were he tries to do too much offensively - he needs to focus on defense and just take advantage of the offensive opportunities that come to him - not try to create things on his own. We have other guys who are much better at that part of the game. I do think we need of find a way to get Thomas Allen more shots. I realize he is a freshman but he is our best pure shooter and we need to get him confident as a scoring threat and more aggressive on the offensive end. For those who see this as an opportunity to bag on Miles - you must not have been around prior to when he got here. We have not had the success I might have hoped for under Miles to this point - but we are "MILES" ahead of where we were under the prior regime - and the trajectory is at least trending slightly upward rather than pointed sharply down before he arrived. I think back to the end of the Nee era when I was on board with those thinking we needed a change - but wow the 10 years that followed that change were difficult to get through. Makes me appreciate the fact that we have at least taken a step upward from that point - and also makes me want to give the person who has us at least moving us in the right direction a chance to see it through.
