If they grant Shepard a wavier because bad luck of the Irish, Copeland should be allowed to play from the get go.

  2. I talked to a couple people about him. What I've gotten: high IQ, likes to attack the basket, improving shooter but not elite, competes on defense, great fit for what Miles wants. From what I was told, UMass was the only other place he visited but he had interest from multiple schools. This wasn't an out-of-the-blue thing; Nebraska has been recruiting him for a while. The toughest thing for him is going to be adjusting to the speed, physicality and athleticism of the American college game. He'll have a chance to crack the rotation, but it will probably take him some time just like any freshman, and perhaps more so than the others.

  3. IMO, potentially Jordy as a true 5. But not every team operates with a true 5. I think a healthy, fully eligible Copeland could be at the 4.

I don't think being a 'traitor' was the problem; maybe it's more of the solution.

  7. Not to sound ageist, I rarely see anyone under the age of 40 wearing UA. Maybe a few 10-13 year-old kids that are brainwashed Steph Curry fanboys and want to wear his sneakers with their GSW jerseys, but that is really about it. UA's performance footwear has very little credibility and zero cool factor. What UA running sneakers are you wearing? Speedform line? What do you like about them that wasn't available from Nike or Adidas? The people that I typically see wearing UA are not usually aligned with athletic performance. They want a camouflage compression shirt or hoody to go hunting in, or some sneakers with overpowering logos. This probably sounds overly critical and stereotypical, but the industry generally agrees with those sentiments. Adidas -- and Nike to a lesser extent -- has long been aligned with high-end fashion and streetwear designers. One of the best design changes Adidas has made has been to move toward more minimalist aesthetics with regard to branding. UA can't seem to grasp that and it makes a lot of (younger) people think their designs are tacky and behind the times. Fashion is obviously cyclical and what is cool one day may not be the next, but UA has continually been slow to enact the changes they need to make in order to stay relevant. Much of their initially growth was due to them being a start-up and outsider and customers desiring change. That honeymoon is over for them and has been for the last few years. A quick examination of their stock price will detail this better than I can explain. Also, for what it is worth Reebok has been owned by Adidas AG for some time now. They haven't been much of a focus because Adidas itself has been doing so well. Mostly, Reebok is relegated to retro releases of past sneakers such as Allen Iverson and Shaq's signature lines.

  8. Here is another thought that popped into my cluttered brain...we have been taking a number of high star kids. The talent seems to run deep. At this point, with the depth we have, we can take a risk with one of our scholarships, especially with a Nebraska kid. History tells us (football team history and/or Drake Beranek) that the smaller town Nebraska kids bring a predictable value to our teams, that value is a mix of work ethic and a strong tie to Husker red. Brady is a project, but with what I am seeing, this project has much more upside then downside. Skills can be refined, bodies can be reshaped but heart and work ethic typically is deep set.

    Brady Heiman is 'N'

Norm, the Hudl film shows a good range of what he's capable of, but it would be a mistake to assume the highlight guy is the one he consistently is. He's not Frank Kaminsky. You like his jumper, but he shot 5-20 from 3 last year (and I know that he's not exactly lights out even in practice against no defense). He's also a 50% free-throw shooter, which isn't a great sign as far as future jumpshot development. He has developed a hook shot, but he's pretty streaky with it. Brady has improved significantly on offense over the last two years, but I worry about his touch limiting how efficient he will be overall. That state tournament game against Alliance is the worst I've ever seen him play, which is unfortunate timing, but it's not indicative of his talent. However, I've seen more 4-of-10 types of shooting performances than one would like considering his height and the kinds of shots he's taking. Defensively, though, Brady is really mobile and has outstanding shot-blocking instincts and fundamentals. The dude averaged almost 8 blocks a game as a sophomore. I don't care how tall you are or what level you play at -- that's impressive. His short wingspan is something to worry about though in terms of his rim protection translating because he's not going to be the only 6'10" kid on the court any more. He definitely has a lot of work to do on his body. On the one hand, his dad is a pretty sturdy guy so you'd think the potential to add weight is there. But I know they've been trying for years and it just hasn't happened at all. We'll see how much of a difference a Division I strength and conditioning program can make. One great thing to hear is that he played the best basketball of his life in Wichita and Las Vegas to close out July. That is why Nebraska finally pulled the trigger after going back-and-forth all spring and summer. As for his attitude, he definitely has a bit of a temper at times but I think saying "he gets T'd up quite a bit" is an overstatement. He's not Rasheed Wallace or DeMarcus Cousins.

I'm just wondering if her body is going to withstand the wear and tear on it playing for Notre Dame. She's going to really need to step it up with conditioning and I question how her ACL might respond to that since she was so soft last year.

Notre Dame coach goes on to say that players transferring in must be able to contribute to the all important "team chemistry". Good luck with that one!

No hardship is involved. The waiver should not be granted.

Notre Dame thinking about applying for a hardship waiver for Shepard? http://www.ndinsider.com/basketball/womens/notebook-ogunbowale-continues-to-set-the-gold-standard-for-notre/article_d71b471c-7951-11e7-8a05-73bf252335ee.html To be blunt, here's hoping the NCAA doesn't grant her the waiver should Notre Dame apply for it, for the crap she pulled on her teammates the past two years!!!
