I appreciate everybody in this forum, and really love the support you all have for the girls. Of course I always watch what I say bc I do realize that potentially Nicea would be the one who'd have to answer for it. But I do enjoy sharing alot of the information, etc that you guys normally don't get to hear about. Again thank you! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk4 points -

I disagree, respectfully, with the statement he wasn't ready. I think people on here are talking a lot about what Isaiah wasn't able to do last year. But there's all kinds of things that he did do and did very well. One thing we have to keep in mind is that he was a freshmen. And freshmen make the adjustment from HS to major college hoops at different rates. Sure, Isaiah might have struggled at times last year, but there were other times where he really showed his upside. In my opinion, he needed to have a freshman year. Not a redshirt freshman year, but a freshman year where he gets a really good read on where he is and where he needs to get to. I see his role being a guy like Shavon Shields who takes his defenders off the dribble and can get to the rim. Isaiah showed that ability. He can spin in the lane, create some separation, and finish. Great attribute. He also, by the way, is a pretty skilled passer. The thing he most needs to work on offensively is his jumper. And given where his percentages were as a freshman, I think a complete overhaul wouldn't be out of the question. You won't find very many good shooters whose guide hand is basically behind the ball and the left elbow winged out like that. Look at any good shooter in the NBA, from Steph Curry and Kevin Durant to Kevin Love and Lebron James. None of them shoot like that. They all get that guide hand forward and the elbow more in. For the love of God, Isaiah, model your shot off of someone good like that. You have time this summer. Watch yourself on video or in the mirror.2 points -

Actualfacts1, I think I speak quite possibly for every member associated with this women's forum when I say having you give us some insight no matter how much or little you divulge is some of the best information on this forum. I myself would much rather read what you put on this forum than what the local media provides. I encourage you to keep writing your views in our little corner of the web but don't write things that could possibly get you in some sort of hot water.2 points -
There will be no change, but the coaching staff better figure out why we play like dog shit (pardon my french) in the regionals. Next year, will probably be the same. It feels like the football team under Pelini. Before the season, you have a hope this year will be different. Each year, though is the same season. Play just good enough to make the regionals, then play like crap.1 point

And can't score from second on them so it takes four an inning is all:). What an offensive design.1 point

I agree. However, Miles has kept one scholarship open most, if not all, the time he has coached here. When available, one of the walk ons gets it. It works to incentivize the walk ons, Miles gets some good press with the locals, and has the ability to pull the scholarship next year if/when a more talented kid comes along.1 point

Only think I don't like the Copeland-Roby thing. Really don't want to see them on the same line. They are the two most gifted players on the team in terms of upside. I'd hate to see them eat each other's minutes. We need both of them on the floor together.1 point -

Thattimeofyear4 reacted to Fullbacksympathy for a topic
I'm not sure the starting five is even going to be that relevant, honestly. We'll have enough flexibility to mix and match how we want. The more I think about it, the more I see: Jordy-Duby-Borchardt Copeland-Roby McVeigh-Nana Allen-Palmer-Gill Watson-Taylor Roby is definitely the wildcard here. The other thing I'm interested in seeing is if Nana can play the 4. He's only 6'6" but if he came in at 210lbs, he'd be a very sturdy 210lbs with great leaping ability and a willingness to rebound. I think he'd be better there than McVeigh, which would free up Roby to play the 3. He might end up being our best option as a stretch 4 after Copeland because he's an elite 3pt shooter. I just see so many lineup options. For example, a small ball, deep threat lineup could be: Watson (40%) Allen (50%) Nana (40%) Roby (35% pleeeeease) Copeland (35%) There's no way to guard that lineup, and it wouldn't be some horribly outmatched group defensively either. We'd be a little light in the front court, but we'd have plenty of height and ridiculous speed.1 point -

To be clear, I'm not saying I think Isaiah won't ever be able to handle the ball. I agree that his biggest problem last year (beyond the lack of polish on his skills) was adapting to the speed of the game, and with a full offseason and a year under his belt, that should improve. But I think people are getting ahead of themselves trying to make him a point guard option next season. I actually wrote about the importance of Roby's development for my Friday column. I've been very high on him since he committed and remain so.1 point -

It's sad as I've noted numerous times that when you are trying to build a WBB fan base you neglect the base. I think I'll get ahold of our Athletic Director and ask him why we don't do more WBB interviews in very many of the venues available.1 point -
The goal is to win the regional. We need to see Oregon st next so we only have to beat them once, even if it means almost surely having our season end.1 point

I haven't checked messages in a free days so I missed this one! But 12dozen I can probably answer a few of your questions seeing as Nicea just went back to Lincoln on Tuesday after being home for 2 weeks. Like Proudparent said, the girls were due back yesterday. I know Nicea is helping with bball camp that starts today thru the weekend. And is also taking a summer class. She's excited bc she just moved into her campus apartment - which is very nice btw! She said all the girls actually get along really well. She tends to hangout (more) with Grace, Maddie & Hannah. Though they're not required to play, Nicea said alot of they play against each other almost daily at Hendricks or they team up and run the court over at the rec center lol ... She said the 2 transfer girls, Bria and Janay are very good. Bria is very quick and gets to basket and passes really well; and Janay is a great shooter. Son for anyone upset over RCJ transferring need not worry lol.. relationships with coaches seem to be good. The girls are still required to meet with their assigned coach once a week to talk about bball, classes, concerns, life, etc. Personally I hope they up their conditioning and move towards being an uptempo type of team. Because we're obviously going to be guard- heavy. Hope this helps a little bit! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk1 point -

Just think: If she'd gone to UConn straight outta high school, she might be transferring back here this season and trying to lose 50 pounds in the off-season. And Connie Yori might still be the coach.1 point -
Don't want to be to negative....but... One of the articles said she as going to some "gym" in Omaha, I think, to get in shape and improve conditioning as she prepares to go to irish land. So we weren't good enough here, for her to improve conditioning ??? I guess it's an admission she knows she hasn't been in good basketball shape at UNL.. I'm pretty sure that was an issue with Coach Amy.1 point

this is mostly a good idea, 12Doz, but i would discourage info sharing about players' relationship with coaching staff. I see a lot of ways that such discussion can go rapid fall south and not many, none really, that it could be much help. Even if someone says "it's great, great, great, never been better", there might be minority soul or two who would dispute that and start wondering who is spreading sunshine. This is just a suggestion - i dont claim to be anything close to wise..., i just thought that i had seen a weakening of the lock on ol Pandy's box.1 point
