  1. If I see another batter take a home run swing on a 2 strike pitch, I'm going to go nuts. Shorten up the swing!!!

    B1G Baseball Tournament Talk

We need to continue to recruit and raise the level of talent. Hopefully a conf. championship and a coach voted "coach of the year" are bargaining chips we can use. Need to find a couple of power hitters who can hit it out and clean the bases every once in a while. A little more speed on the bases would be nice, too. Just wishing as I type here.

At least we don't look like morons in the dugout. I understand having fun, but you don't have to make yourself look like idiots. (Again, my old man get off my lawn)

  4. I hate that Alvarado walked the first two guys, but he's been so good all year, that it's hard to get mad at him.

  12. Because that's not the new era of baseball. The new concept is that you get 3 swings, make them count. I guess we are just the get off my lawn old geezers.

  13. We are really good at leaving people on base today.

  14. D1 Baseball chat said they do not seed by 1-68. After choosing hosts, 2,3, and 4 seeds, they regionalize. That could be good for us.

  16. Last year, Minn. won the conf. and finished 1-2 in the B1G Tourney and NU finished 2nd and went 0-2. This year, Mich. was 2nd and went 0-2 and NU was the reg. season champ and went 1-2. Interesting coincidence.

  17. It was going to be a monumental task, starting a pitcher who didn't even pitch in the conference, and then he only lasts 1 1/3 innings to make matters worse. I think we have a chance with Meyers.

  32. It sure seems that we are a headcase lately at the plate in postseason play. I know we displayed that a few times in the Anderson era also. All these strikeouts are inexcusable.

  43. Good lord our hitters don't keep their heads in when swinging. Can't hit what you can't see. Yes bugeater I know I left that right over the middle of the plate.

  44. Come to think of it, I think you fat fingered the '3' for the wrong team.

  45. Yes, which is why I was hoping to sweep the tournie and wham... come out with a 1 seed. Probably not happening now.

  47. For what it's worth, there's a lot of Top seeded teams in other conference tournaments who have dropped out of their tournaments early.

  48. Knowing our luck, we'll lose in Gavitt and then beat them in the tourney making our win exempt.

  49. Scoring has increased because long range shooting is way better. Shooting is way better because the lane became more clogged after zone, etc., was installed. To give you an idea, Larry Bird was two percentage points better from three than Lebron. The idea that someone got decked to the floor every time they went up for a layup in the 80s is ridiculous. Were there more cheap shots? Yes. There is way better help defense now because of the rules, so there are way more kick outs. Also, there wasn't an emphasis on jumping straight up and allowing contact back then, so you might as well foul the hell out of someone since you're going to get called for it anyway when he jumps into your chest. There are way more no-calls around the rim today when two players collide, and rightfully so.

    Thomas Allen is N

But to be fair, some of our freshmen (such as Lue and Hamilton) were not called on to be major scorers when they were freshmen. Heck, Lue and Hamilton had Mikki, Strickland, Boone and others on the floor playing major minutes. The make up of a team somewhat dictates the scoring that is needed. But your point is well made.
