  5. She had a scholarship offer to South Dakota but no scholarship here at NU. I think she was hoping to get put on scholarship for next year, but when that didn't happen her and her family decided it may be in her best interest to go somewhere where it would. Schooling last season would have cost her parents some $20-$30 grand. The lure of free education vs her parents having to pay tuition again is most likely one of the main reasons of her transferring.

I'm with redsteve and will be sorry to see Rylie leave the Huskers. I certainly cannot fault her for pursuing scholarship opportunities elsewhere that might have proven problematic at Nebraska. Thanks to RCJ for wanting to come to Nebraska and for all her efforts where she played in every game. Best Wishes for her success wherever she decides to play.

    Jacobson Gone?

Low D1 or D2 is just laughable. MJ is a P5 Role player hands down. He can and should play with the big boys. Is he a star? Not by any means. But don't insult the kid by labeling him as D2 player type of talent.

  12. Reason Nebraska didn't recruit him to begin with? Wasn't he a decent in state guy? To me Nebraska basketball success depends on building from in state. Completely recruiting out of state hasn't worked. To advance basketball in the state Nebraska should be recruiting one or two guys a year from within the borders. If I had to put a number on it, at least 30% of the roster should be made up of Nebraska players. Hopefully we can get him. We need the size. Not to mention we don't have much choice to fill scholarships.

    RCJ transferring

yeah, saw a twitter account that, imo, was mocking RCJ's transfer (being a "walk-on" and transferring). for crying out loud, if the schollie wasn't going to happen for her at nebraska, why not take advantage of the opportunity of a schollie somewhere? geez, take a minute and think about it......

  15. I watched him play three times in '17. I would say that he has dramatically improved from the player he was as a sophomore (when I first started watching him) into his junior year, and now into his senior year. The player I saw this year was starting to open the book on how to bang and be physical. He's also sneaky athletic. Similar, doughy-body to a guy like Kennedy Meeks of UNC (not the same caliber of player fwiw), but with more bounce. He also seemed to understand the value of running the floor offensively this year and had great hands/footwork/seal ability in offensive transition. Has nice shooting stroke/touch also. Is he a B1G player? Probably (definitely) not right out of the gate. But, my god, if we could just keep one dude around long enough and develop them - I see no reason he couldn't be very serviceable as a junior and senior. And that's the thing that gets so frustrating to me. We're so hit and miss here. Rarely do we ever just keep guys around who are incredibly serviceable and reliable. If a dude can be brought in under that premise, I'm all for it. If the conversation goes like this with some in-state guys, "Hey ______ (instate player), we really want you a part of this program. But you have to come in with the mindset that we have no real plan to get you immediate, major, consistent minutes in your freshman and probably sophomore year. If you are cool with that, and are going to come to work and develop every day - we would love to offer you a scholarship." Then heck, I'm all for it. It would be great to have some in-state guys who are grinders that stay into their junior/senior years.

    RCJ transferring

I wondered if that was what played into her decision. With the cost of a college education sky rocketing, the lure of a full ride somewhere else has to be pretty strong. It just isn't worth going $100k into debt for a 4 year degree and then possibly more debt if they go on to grad school. Maybe she will come back to South Dakota? Heck, their out of state tuition rivals NU's in-state tuition anyway, and she would get a free ride and live in a stellar dorm, play in new facilities, and get lots of playing time. Plus, it is still close enough that her family could see her play. Any she may have more opportunity for post season play...

    2017 Nebraska Baseball

I'm sure that Crayton's starter pitched a gem by his standards tonight. That said, our performance at the plate was pedestrian at best. Miller seems to be the only one hitting with any kind of success lately. Instead of others raising their game at the plate at this point of the season, a few more seem to be slumping. Granted, I'm looking myopically at the last four or five games, but that needs to change in order to make a run at a league title or even an upper end finish.

  21. I heard Horne was a stand-by recruit of KSU. KSU signed someone else and he is still listing. How many of the players that we are now actively recruiting "primary" targets and how many are secondary or stand by targets? I guess my point is that we may have two or three recruits standing by and are ready and willing to sign with us. However, they cannot yet pull the trigger because we are waiting to hear from one of our primary recruits? Just wondering.

She apparently has her own reasons to do something else. Practicing with the red shirt guards may have helped her make up her mind about next year?

    Jacobson Gone?

If he can get his feet right, Morrow is a guy who legitimately has the potential to be at an elite program, high level starter, consistent double double guy, with the occasional 20 and 10 type of game. This guy looked like an All Big Ten caliber guy for much of November and December. I have very little doubt that he is going to blow up at his next school and we are going really really regret that he got away. In Jacobson I see a guy that showed barely any improvement from freshman to sophomore, other than putting on some mass. In fact he regressed offensively. Yes he plays hard. As he should. I don't hold him on some Tyler Hansboro level of hustle, because he's just not that type of guy. Nothing unusual in terms of effort. Absolutely not a tone setter type, dogfight, "oh shit we are in for a battle tonight" type guy like Benny Parker or even Morrow. And that's what you need to be if you are limited in so many areas like he is. Unathletic. Plays much smaller than his frame, specifically on offense. Mediocre to awful at scoring from every spot on a basketball court. Don't care how pretty his shot looks - it doesn't go in. We talk about expectations. If THIS is the guy that is starting for us and THIS is the guy that people get the most worked up about leaving, I don't know what else to say. Your expectations are much lower than mine.

I would rather take a chance on a Nebraska kid who wants to play for Good Ole State U than a marginal out of state player. This is not critical to the success of the program but is something I would like to see done.
