2017 PF Brady Ernst -> Florida Gulf Coast
Thattimeofyear4 and 2 others reacted to Norm Peterson for a topic
Here's the real clincher with this kid: Getting him would be like recruiting Brady Michael Jacobsernst straight outta high school and getting 5 seasons of eligibility out of him. They were the same year in HS from the same state. MJ comes here for 2 years and transfers. Ernst would come in next season, be immediately eligible, and have 3 more seasons to play. MJ goes to wherever he goes and he'll have to sit out a year. Ernst already sat his year but sat it for someone else. I have my fingers totally crossed.3 points -
With Old Miss involved I think 100k is a little short.3 points

Not only that, but perhaps the player we thought Michael Jacobson was going to be. Granted it was just a highlight film and you could put together a highlight film of MJ hitting perimeter shots, but this kid looks like it's a legit part of his game. Interesting. I tried to find info on this former ISU Cyclone. MJ was 1st team Class 4A All-state according to the Des Moines Register. Brady was the same year in school as MJ and was 3rd team Class 4A. HOWEVER, Brady suffered a season-ending knee injury (ACL) toward the end of his senior year and I have to think that's what kept him off the 1st team because he was putting up really good numbers in HS (averaged a double-double as a junior and a senior.) Plus he got that ISU offer in HOOPS (as opposed to football.) He played at ISU for about 6-8 games his freshman year and apparently was still having trouble with the knee and so he gets a medical redshirt for that year. That's how he's still just a sophomore-to-be with 3 seasons to play. If we can get this kid here, then Jacobson leaving might just be a blessing in disguise. Totally agree with you on this one.2 points -

2017 PG Tyler Maye -> VCU

Anybody decent who wants to come here--we want them. Which is kinda funny to type because I've heard this sentiment a lot recently as if it's something new because, you know, it's Miles' last chance and we have all these openings for some reason. I happen to think it's been this way all along and it's a testament to how hard it is to recruit here. Not an excuse, because it's ultimately Miles' job to assemble the roster, but more of a reason for what's what. Despite Miles' ability to upgrade the talent here, he's always taken heat (deservedly) for being a player short, overloading at a position, or having unbalanced classes. I think it's just the reality of taking players who will actually show up and play here. You can't tell a player you've recruited no just because we already have something similar. We barely fill out scholarships the way it is. And part of this could explain some of the transfers or at least the unhappiness of players playing out of position.1 point -

Pry should take both regardless. Both can play the 1 or 2. Taylor and Gill are Seniors. Palmer and Watson are juniors. And we have the spots to allow for both1 point -
i think one of the early indicators on the recruiting acumen of the new staff will be how well J. Morton and B. Stallworth do.1 point

Do we want a JUCO guard/someone with more experience if we land Allen? Otherwise seems like we're in the market for 2 guards.1 point

If he's gotten his act together off the court since he left for California, I'd love to go after him. Super skilled and super athletic. Supposedly he's also grown since he's been in Cali. We'll see where this goes.1 point -

Maybe Tim owes the Agau family a rain check, so he now has his eyes set on Aguir. Who in my opinion has much more upside than his older brother did. Given, they are two different players at two different positions, Aguir's athleticism and versatility is second to none. Can defend 1-4 depending on the match up and he definitely has what the kids call "hops." Wouldn't mind seeing Young Mr. Agau come home after next year.1 point -

A scout team backcourt of Young Mr. Behrens and Justin Costello would be a nice luxury to have. Just wish Roman was a couple inches taller, but his dad is a small guy too. Damn you genetics!1 point -

I second this. High basketball IQ, savvy with the rock, good stroke, and can always find an open man. If he was a couple inches taller he would be a "stud recruit", but I would love to add him to our cache of luxury walk ons1 point -
