  1. Funny story. I once took a pickle, died it red, and, because of its shape, it looked like a kidney.

  3. Sorry your feelings were hurt but when someone appears with his first post criticizing the coach, it is hard to take him, or her, as a serious poster. This is especially true when Creighton is held up as a shining example of excellent coaching (didn't they get outcoached in the first game?). To answer your question, I disagree with your premise. Last I checked, the players are the ones who actually win or lose a game. I don't believe Altman is a better coach than Self although his players certainly kicked KU's butt last night. And in case you didn't realize it, PICKLE has the same number of letters as KIDNEY.

  4. Agree with all that and they actually played one another in a highschool summer league game I think porters freshmen or sophomore yr and porters team lost bad. I remember isaiahs coach saying he didn't see what all the hype was about.

  5. Thanks for giving me a good CHUCKLE, PICKLE. You know, it's kind of refreshing to get a new poster like this every once in awhile. It makes me appreciate life in my world. I don't have to attack every post that doesn't agree with my world view, whether that be politics, religion or coaching abilities. Welcome to the Devaney Dungeon , PICKLE! That's the power of love.

  8. Hire a former Kansas State coach not named Tom Asbury or Jim Woolridge, go to the Final Four. A simple formula. (Kruger, Altman, Huggins, Martin.)

  9. They are getting 2 fantastic players, I'll tell you that much. The guard (Foster Loyer) would be rated MUCH higher if he was a little taller. He has NBA range and reads the floor/game at a next to elite level. There was a time in the game where he hit back to back spot of threes followed by a contested step back off the dribble. All three barely even hit net. As far as the forward (Xavier Tillman) he is literally a defensive end out on the court. At a legit 260, he can power through just about anyone. He was an extremely efficient 12 for 16 (I think) from the floor and just controls the paint. They will both be a load to deal with in the upcoming years. All in all it was a heck of a game. The two stars took over and this game showed at least in the state of Michigan, elite guards > elite big men when it comes to winning championships

  10. Here is a quote from the article linked above: "Akenten averaged 14.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.0 assist. He shot .492 from the field, .459 (68 of 148) from 3-point range and .640 from the free-throw line." And here is another: "From a statistical standpoint, there were some players in this area who averaged more points and more rebounds – many more statewide. But Akenten, as Brost said, averaged 15 points and it easily could have been 25. Instead of being concerned with his own statistics, he did everything in his power to ensure the Raiders were the best they could be."

I am basing this on the assumption that Florida was out of time outs which I believe was the case. Wisconsin mismanaged the end of the game. I discussed this topic once this year in some thread regarding missing second free throw. When there is that little time left, the end result with any kind of defense being played correctly at all is going to be a three pointer for Florida to win the game. It does not matter if you are ahead by 1 or 2 points. You are going to lose if they make the shot. By making the second free throw you are giving them an incredibly easier shot. You are looking at half court or further if you miss and harass the rebounder just a little bit. You make it, you are looking at the kind of look that they got. You rarely see teams miss when they can go up 2, but they should in many instances. This was one of them. They also got unlucky that Hayes, who is a bad free throw shooter happened to make it.

Not gonna lie, that loss by Wisconsin is a perfect ending. They've escaped so many OT games that they probably shouldn't have won, including in Lincoln, that I am slightly satisfied that UW lost tonight.

  27. Did I mention that Tom Izzo has the clap? And pimps his players out to the professors in the sociology department? And he's secretly suffering from congestive heart failure and might die next month, in which case, Michigan State is likely to replace him with Jud Heathcote's dimwitted bastard son? These are things I'd want to know if I was looking at different programs for my college career. And someone ought to tell Izzo that Mark Smith has been known to practice celibacy before marriage. And reportedly may have inhaled. Just saying.

  32. Washut has an article this morning the headline for which says (paraphrased) despite his recruiting heating up, Huskers still holding strong. Hmmm. Interesting. If they can swing this kid, it would be gigantic. (Notice I didn't say YUGE?) I said it before, but this kid is frickin' good.

  34. Im hoping for the same as well idk if I actually posted this or not but he should have red shirted. He was not physically ready which I believe caused him to struggle and have confidence issues. But I've seen this story before It was pretty much the exact same with his freshman yr of highschool as far as his play and development and kinda team as a whole. Idk how this translates to college but sophomore yr they won a regional title ? Im expecting big things next yr

    The power of coaching

Ok, I should have waited awhile to speak my mind. Got it. Will remember that next time. Just a pointer when analyzing a general point. Never look at one game or season as a "sample size". For example, I wouldn't say that Beilein out coached us to get the win in our final loss at home this year. But I would say over the course of the past 5 years, when both guys have been coaching their respective teams, Beilein has consistently coached better than Miles and the results would back me up. As far as Creighton? I mentioned them as a prime example because it's relevant. If it really bother you that much. Get over it. They are our rivals in the same geography and compete with us head-to-head in recruiting. And, as far as sample size, well, I won't mention how Miles has done in that regard, I'm sure you're well aware unless your head is buried under some rock.

I guess nobody else has an opinion on the gist of my points. That's kinda disappointing, was hoping to spark some discussion instead of a barb like the comment 49er made. Do y'all agree or disagree with my premise regarding coaching and constant NCAA tourney performance?
