Im hoping for the same as well idk if I actually posted this or not but he should have red shirted. He was not physically ready which I believe caused him to struggle and have confidence issues. But I've seen this story before It was pretty much the exact same with his freshman yr of highschool as far as his play and development and kinda team as a whole. Idk how this translates to college but sophomore yr they won a regional title ? Im expecting big things next yr4 points -

To take a break from basketball, I want to mark the passing of the person who I think truly is the "father" of rock and roll. Chuck Berry. He wrote all his songs, which were really, really good. He kicked ass on the guitar. He had a great stage presence. John Lennon once said, if you wanted to rename rock 'n' roll, you could call it Chuck Berry. When I heard the news of his passing yesterday, I was really bummed even though he lived to be 90. I'm sure Buddy Holly greeted him at the Pearly Gates and said "what took you so long?" Chuck replies, "Me? Ask Keith Richards that in another 40 years." So many Berry videos I could have posted, but I chose this classic to show what PBA ticketholders look like at a Husker game. Check out the people behind Chuck. RIP Mr. Berry!2 points

I watched the game with Simeon. Simeon did a box and 1 between both teams you had at least at 5 Division 1 basketball players. Nana definitely has the leadership that Nebraska needs. A great off guard who will probably start out in our system as a small forward. Andrew White shooting ability if not better but can develop his own shot2 points -

Sunday morning "IF" ing. If Taylor picks up the game quickly, if Nicea and Hannah make a nice frosh to soph jump, if Maddie keeps improving, if Jess keeps working hard, if Rachel is healthy, and, if the transfers can take the pressure off Hannah and help shore up the defense and turnover issues, we could have vastly improved team next year. Call me optimistic, but I could see it happening.1 point

Very well might not work out. However, I don't necessarily think that he's a one-and-done mercenary type. He was an assistant at Western Ill for the same coach for 11 years and for KSU/SC for the Huggins/Frank Martin for 7 years. Would you stick at Okie St if someone offered to triple your salary? BTW, he's a former KSU player and assistant. How much do those guys hate themselves more than usual today?1 point

Yeah, but you rarely have a season where you need as few as 8, 9 or 10 players. We've seen the need for more depth each of the past 3 seasons. Whether it be injury or a player not living up to his end of the bargain. Downplay the competition factor if you want, but you need it for a number of reasons. Iron sharpens iron. The more of that you can provide, the better. And when you don't have cupboards stocked full of dudes that can fill it up, having someone who can threaten to take playing time is a powerful motivator. I think we've carried an extra scholarship into the season every year under Miles. Only once have we filled it with a mid-season transfer. I'm excited for his potential, but I'd love it if at least occasionally that scholarship had been filled. Someone like a Tre'Shawn Thurman would have been a perfect use of that open scholie. There are plenty of in-state guys that could have been the 13th guy on the roster. That doesn't seem unreasonable to me.1 point -
Tired of hearing the self imposed sanctions thing and people whining about not being able to get 13 scholarship players. A rotation is 8, 9, 10 players at the very most. Say what you want about competition in practice blah blah blah. We want the most firepower we can possibly have within that playing rotation. Miles has made clear his strategy on optimizing potential to add firepower to the rotation. That is to leave a spot open for a mid season transfer because guys in the spring who haven't signed yet are overvalued and recruited by everyone who needs a guy. In other words, they usually aren't as good as advertised and odds of landing them are small. Adding a 13th just to add a 13th does no good. It's not like we are turning 5 star recruits away and saying sorry we have to leave a spot open in case there's a mid season transfer we want. We usually have reeled in the best of the recruits available who want to come here and are scratching and clawing for guy number 12. So it's not like adding a 13th guy who is questionable at this level does us any good.1 point

OK, so shiny new arena, practically new team, nearly new coach ...
Ron Mexico reacted to Norm Peterson for a topic
I might be wrong about this, but this is my understanding. When we had a yell squad with dudes, they did lifts and stuff where they threw the lightest girls up in the air and would catch them when they came down. Except for that one time when they didn't catch her and she broke her neck. And, after that, the university decided for "liability purposes" to ground the yell squad and not let them do lifts. Which, if you're not doing lifts, what's the point of having guys on the yell squad, right? Well, the point of having guys on the yell squad is to have big, booming voices yelling through megaphones into the crowd to start some sort of in-unison cheer that gets the crowd involved, behind the team, and hopefully gets momentum on your team's side.1 point -

Winning and the team improving are obviously at the top of the list. But those things are not incompatible with doing some things to help fan involvement. It's not either/or. It's not like if you go to the opera with your girlfriend tonight, you won't be able to go watch the NCAA tourney with your buddies. That situation, it's one or the other. But not both. The things I'm talking about are really not tied to nor dependent upon the things you would be concerned about. See, that's the great thing: We can work on BOTH!1 point -

I think people are being deliberately obtuse about this. I'm not bagging on the fans. I'm bagging on the fan experience and suggesting it could be better. I'm saying it has nothing to do with how well the team is or isn't doing. Even if the team was doing great, the structural things I'm describing would still impair crowd involvement. I think there are some people who, predictably, want to bag on the team/coaches/record/etc. whenever anything like this comes up. Miles sucks, the team sucks; therefore, if anyone complains about crowd support ... But those aren't the things I was talking about. Let me ask you something: Aside from the "HUSKER POWER" cheer during opponent intros, when was the last time you heard the crowd cheer something in unison? I can't recall any during the time we've been at PBA. Back at Devaney, when we used to have a yell squad, even though we were mediocre as a team, you'd still get the crowd to join in the "DEE-FENSE (clap clap) DEE-FENSE (clap clap)" cheer. Have you heard that at PBA ever? I've tried to start it many times with no luck, because people don't even seem to know it anymore. I've tried to start a "GO! BIG! RED! (clap) GO! BIG! RED! (clap) cheer. People don't seem to remember that one either. Back in Devaney, you'd get people started on it and others would join in and pretty soon the whole crowd is doing it. That doesn't happen anymore because my section ends a few rows in front of me and then there's this cliff. So, we're sort of isolated from other parts of the arena. As they are from us. But, if there was a yell squad, maybe, just maybe, we could get the crowd to join in and start yelling things in unison. Like, y'know, crowds at Devaney used to do. PBA is great in a lot of ways, but it doesn't facilitate crowd involvement. If anything, it stifles it. (See point #1 in my first post in this thread today.) Nothing I said in that first post could even remotely be construed as complaining about our fans or inviting discussion about whether our team is worthy of being cheered or not. It was all about what we can do to facilitate getting the fans involved. I think people want to cheer; there's just not much about the fan experience that facilitates getting people involved.1 point -

Akoy seems to have an issue with the truth. He milked his recruitment for all it was worth including sideline passes to Nebraska football games. Miles probably spent more time with him than with his own family until Akoy decided to go elsewhere. He's a liar if he's saying Nebraska didn't try to recruit him.1 point -

So we should just be cool with having lousy atmosphere just because our team is under .500? I will disagree with you. My experiences at Devaney tell me we don't automatically have crappy crowds just because we have a mediocre team. We can have a mediocre team and have much better crowd involvement. Even when we are doing well and have something to play for, the crowd is typically docile at best. At times when it would be natural and obvious for the crowd to be on their feet and yelling, it doesn't happen at PBA. It is inexcusable for an opponent's fans to come into our arena and drown us out with their noise. And I have seen that happen too often. If you are satisfied attending games in a mausoleum that's up to you. But I don't get your rationale.1 point -

So, I'm gonna stand up for the crowd a bit. I went to the Iowa game in Iowa City. Perhaps it was because it was Super Bowl Sunday. Or maybe it was because NU's not a big name opponent. Or, IDK, there might have been a different reason, but the atmosphere there wasn't as good as it was in Lincoln. Their fans weren't engaged for the most part until they made their last push to put NU away. Their student section was virtually non-existent. When the yell squad shouts into those mega phones, it's just a couple of dudes yelling a couple of words and it's more awkward than it is motivating. Frankly, the crowd at PBA, based on my small sample size, was significantly better than the one at Carver-Hawkeye. I started paying attention to crowds at other places. If it was a big game, like when Kansas went somewhere, or the Duke/UNC game, the crowd was obviously great from start to finish, but I watched the Kentucky/Georgia game and the UK crowd was listless. Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconin, Penn St...none of them were anything special. None of them sustained anything for more than a few possessions. And, believe it or not, there were a lot of empty seats at the end of just about every game I watched, unless it was a close game. All this to say, the crowd at PBA gets a bad wrap. I don't think we know how good we really have it. It's, at worst, a pretty typical college basketball crowd. If the team lives up to it's potential, I think the crowd will, too.1 point -
