  1. Cannot say enough about Nick Fuller. His eleven minutes were huge for the Huskers. Played very well defensively. Forcing forcing a jump ball on the Buckeyes inbound with 21 seconds left to give the Huskers the possession was big and obviously set it up for Glynn to close it out with an incredible three-point play. So happy to see Glynn seal the victory as I know his slip at home against the Buckeyes really got to him. The sky is the limit with Glynn and I honestly feel he is the best PG we've had since Lue.

  2. I have always believed that to get Nebraska to the level where I think they could Maintain (think Wisconsin, i think nebraska could have the success of Wisconsin): When you hire the Coach in a situation like Nebraska basketball or Kansas Football, you need to close your eyes for about ten years...it will be a roller coaster ride and that is why you have to close your eyes and only slightly pay attention to the wins and losses..Celebrate any successes, but don't get too hung up with the failures. I am not saying you would never fire a coach after 5 years, 6 or 7...but I think you have to have a real long leash....I think you have to let a coach swing and miss a couple of times at a place like Nebraska...because this place is not an easy place to win and if each coach knows they are only going to get to really have one recruiting cycle before they are judged...how is Nebraska ever going to get to that next level? In Basketball, it is really easy to miss on recruits...Players look great, get to campus and can't play... They really have to know exactly what kind of players they need...before they ever play a BIg ten game...and at a place like Nebraska, you don't get to choose the puzzle pieces you want...you have to really search for the right piece and convince them to come to a place that is not a basketball school. I think the same thing about Kansas Football...if Kansas believes that their current coach is capable of success...the AD should just close his eyes to the Win loss record to about year 7 or 8 before that becomes the measuring stick....now if a coach has other failings, such as moral character or violates university policies that is another kettle of fish.

  4. This was my favorite win of the season for a number of reasons: Ohio State is a bad matchup for us. They have a very talented team and are easily Thad's worst coaching job of his career. OSU doesn't have any elite killers though, and that hurts them in crunch time. I sincerely hope that's the last time we play them, because they're as talented top to bottom as anyone in the B1G. I'm THRILLED with this win. We were dreadfully missing Roby's length and athleticism in this game, which makes the win sweeter. OSU's defensive athleticism and length are awful for Horne and McVeigh, and they put a ton of pressure on Jacobson. As I said at the beginning of the season (and was refuted by many), Morrow is the best PF in the conference, even though he's playing the 5. I wouldn't trade him for any big in the league except Swanigan. Complete game changer when healthy, and better than any bigs on OSU's roster. Tai might mess around and make an NBA squad. Who should doubt him at this point? He's an elite defender (see last play) and a consistent, capable, and unorthodox scorer. He'll get a look. Glad to see McVeigh show his resolve in the second half. I was worried he was going to disappear. Clearly there has been significant growth there as he figured out how to get open and kept us in the game at times with his great shooting. Once again, I loved Glynn's stat line: 14pts, 5rb, 2stl, 2ast, 0to. I really feel like he's starting to understand what his role is from an efficiency standpoint (another quiet 14 points, though the last few were loud as hell) for THIS year's team. I think next season he adds 2-3 points to his ppg, but the all around facilitating is huge for us. I completely trust him with the ball. Jordy had a freshman game. It happens. He'll dominate this sort of game down the road with some weight training. I pray that Jacobson will work his way into a reliable offensive player. He is a great defender (notice the steals the last couple of games) and awesome teammate, and watching he and Morrow just wear out other teams with pure heart and toughness is a true joy to watch. We were not supposed to win this game. There's a whole lot of belief in that locker room that hasn't left despite our youth and injuries. I think that's a testament to coaching. I've enjoyed watching this team play as much as the midget squad Doc almost took to the tournament. Every kid on this roster seems like a high character person, and that is extremely valuable moving forward. They're going to win a shitload of games in the next couple of years. Again, this year is not lost by any stretch. It's only going to get more interesting if we can stay relatively healthy.

  5. The held ball at the end made up for a lot of shitty calls tonight. That was a shitty call in our favor.

  7. She also mentioned the high standards set by her parents, and her appreciation of it. It is obvious Emily was raised well and had the right values instilled. The fact that she recognizes and values it at a young age is impressive. It took me years longer to understand and appreciate what my parents did. Emily consistently displays maturity, character and integrity of the highest order. Well done, parents and daughter!

  9. Just going off the excellent mred predictor and leaving all the favorites as is for non-NU games. Rest of the way: 4-0: #5 seed vs OSU/Ill winner 3-1: (Loss vs MSU) #6 seed vs Rutg/PSU winner (Loss vs Ill) #6 seed vs Rutg/Ill winner (Loss vs Minn) #6 seed vs Rutg/PSU winner (Loss vs Mich) #7 seed vs Iowa 2-2: (Way too many combinations to type here) Most likely seed: #8 (Most likely scenario, losses to MSU & Minn) #8 seed vs Indiana 1-3: (Win vs MSU) #10 seed vs MSU (Win vs Ill) #9 seed vs Indiana (Win vs Minn) #10 seed vs Mich (Win vs Mich) #10 seed vs Mich 0-4: #12 seed vs OSU / winner to play MSU Of course, these seeds almost certainly will not be accurate as there will be multiple upsets in non-NU games, affecting the records/seeds of the teams around NU. But that's quite a range of options remaining, anywhere from #5 to #12. It looks pretty solid that as long as we don't go 0-4, we'll avoid the play-in day. RPI Forecast has us going 1-3 rest of the way with win vs Illinois; RealTime RPI says 2-2 rest of the way, losing the 2 road games - both of those scenarios will put us the 8/9 game vs Indiana according to the predictor. Would just be a matter of who wears white jerseys and who wears red jerseys. That's the 11 am game on Thursday ... just in case you want to start practicing your sick day routine for that day. 11 am is a good time for a long lunch too.

  10. Horrendous. It's unbelievable how many times Nebrasketball gets screwed. It's bad enough that the TV commentators point out almost every game in conference season that we're the recipient of terrible calls. And it's not like I'm "blame the refs" guy; Nebrasketball has more games stolen via officiating than all five of the other sports teams that I support combined.

WBB: Game # 26 vs Indiana

This important win was against a good veteran Indiana team that started 3 seniors and 2 juniors. Tyra Buss is an excellent point guard but I'll take our 2 freshmen guards. Boy have they grown in their play this year both on offense and defense.

  12. Ugly game but great win. Good thing my wife was gone because I was screaming at the tv on some of those terrible calls. On a side note, I don't want to take all the credit for the win but when we were down 7 with 3 minutes left I realized I didn't have Husker gear on. I put on a vintage black Nebraska basketball shirt and the rest is history! You're welcome Husker nation! ?

  15. 139 D1 games are being played today, employing 417 referees. I wouldn't go so far as to say there were 414 better referees, but then again, somebody had to be #415, #416 and #417. These guys deserve a nomination.

  20. Aphilso1 has this one right. The wisdom of our play has no correlation to the officiating. We had a couple calls go our way after the horrific Morrow call at least. I am not a big officiating bitcher, but we have been on the short end for sure this season. Probably resides somewhere in between what most here think and the truth.

  24. Perhaps the easiest move for an AD is to fire his/her coach. It allows the AD to say he/she is doing something to advance the program. The difficult thing is to retain the coach and take heat from certain boosters who believe they know it all. As much as many of us like the direction we are going as a program, and believe Coach Miles is doing a wonderful job selling the Husker program; there are distracters out there who are very loud and obnoxious about their opinion on both the program and Miles as a coach. I guess we each get an opinion. That said, I would implore those who read this to take one additional step, if you appreciate the job Coach Miles is doing, send an email to the AD office and provide your opinion.

  25. What is interesting about the jump ball is that the officials consistently weren't giving players calls when they expected them or were trying to draw them. Three times Evan Taylor went into the lane looking for a foul instead of playing basketball and trying to score...the officials said no dice and let it play on... They did the same thing here...the Ohio State player was trying to get the foul instead of get out of the double team and the officials said no dice.

  26. It's hard for me to even wrap my brain around the possibility of this happening. I don't know, maybe I'm just too simpleminded! Hypothetically, if it were to happen (and it shouldn't) where do you think it would rank in the list of boneheaded moves by and A.D. at Nebraska? IMO, it's right there at the top!

  27. "Morrow assist, he will be an all big ten player if realizes he can get five assists a game because of the opposing teams need to collapse on him" THIS is a very good point. I get frustrated that our big man think they need to shoot the ball everytime someone throws the ball into them!!! Good things happen when they kick the ball out! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  28. Nebraska @ Ohio State random notes made while watching the game Using a Nike Elite basketball….it would be interesting to compare performances with brands of basketballs….definitely have a different feel brand by brand Why do we roll the ball on inbounds…with 18 minutes left in first half Someday somebody is going to take advantage of that tendency Evans Taylor missed lay up with 16 to go first half…unable to draw foul call by officials, cost a three pointer on the other end…5 point swing. Probably right call…defender went straight up… Mcveigh help defense in middle of lane on possession with 12:45 left first half In comparison, Ohio state man guarding mcveigh nearly dead center in lane while in similar help position Bad camera angles Mcveigh forcing it….needs to let game come to hm Horne looked lost on defense 8 minute mark Jacobsen got away with being out of bounds on his third steal I like the change of pace with the zone. I like the aggression while we are playing it We did leave the corner three open, but they missed it First half 24-30 Tai and Jacobsen played well Evan and mcveigh struggled Overall, could be worse Only allowed 1 offensive board….that suprised me Physical first half, but only 4 fouls on Ohio state Watson got hosed on his third foul… Too much dribbling by Watson and tai early in second half Watson got hosed on his fourth foul too… Two guys bloodied, but no fouls called on Ohio state. Morrow first enters second half at 13:38…too long on bench unless he isn't 100% No fouls on Ohio state in first 8 minutes Miles showing restraint, I would have gotten A Technical by now The 18 foot jumper is a horrible shot Fuller gives solid minutes I think miles need to use him as a spark plug almost every game Maybe just 3-5 minutes a game, but good things tend to happen while he is in the game. Morrow assist, he will be an all big ten player if realizes he can get five assists a game because of the opposing teams need to collapse on him Officiating is inconsistent….on Ohio state defensive end, aggression is rewarded…on Nebraska defensive end aggression penalized I like the timeout with six to go. Two bad possessions in a row, good timeout after those bad shots Ed morrows fifth foul horrible. I hate the restricted area…I don't understand the purpose of it. why shouldn't defense have right to their spot anywhere on the court? Might be the worst officiated game of year Gutsiest win in forever

  29. Coach Miles calling for the zone the few times in the game were big time calls. Maybe should have even went to it sooner in the second half. Great call coach!

  31. Morrow's foul out was the shittiest call I've seen all year. Usually when a guy goes straight up, at least against us, there's no call. Ed was straight up AND giving ground. Just terrible!

  35. Nice win, hard to say this but I am pretty happy that we are now tied for #8 in the league. - Tai was questionable for this game...but when we were floundering, he carried us...SENIOR! - Nick played some quality minutes...dare I say I hate to see this, but I love to see this...we needed him - Ed is a flippin man. It may not show up in the stat line, but he made a huge difference today. - MJ was a dud on offense, but a stud on defense and the boards. - Jeriah struggled. - Jordy struggled. - Evan had a pedestrian game. Nothing bad, but nothing really great either. - G-dub was one pi**ed off dude when he picked up his 4th. But the dude came in and was a STUD! The defensive stand at the end of the game was awesome. That was huge!

  43. It's really fun rooting for her even though she doesn't see the floor much in games. I wish more on the team gave the effort and hustle that she gives every time she takes the floor. That's at trait she picked up from the previous years playing under Yori and staff and has carried it with her this season!

  45. While the player with the ball was being fouled by two different players? It was a shitty call, and I loved it.

  46. It was bad, but worse than Watson's fourth foul tonight? Or worse than when Jack "fouled" a Michigan player attempting a 3, but replay showed he never got within a foot of the shooter? Or worse than when Jordy fouled out in 17 minutes in Iowa CIty, with replay showing that he went straight up on three of the "fouls"? Unfortunately, there's a LOT of competition for worst call of the year.
