  1. Villanova doesn't really pound it into the post, even when they have a size advantage. They like to shoot from behind the arc, so trying to force them to take a lot of threes may not be the most effective strategy. They essentially start two PGs -- last year's BE co-POY Archidiacano and the potential one and done freshman Brunson. They even have one lineup where they play three PGs, so don't anticipate causing a lot of turnovers as they handle the ball very, very well. They are point guard U after all. Outside of Ochefu, seemingly everyone they put on the floor can really shoot it, but they also will attack the rim. Very fast paced team and extremely well coached by Jay Wright. On the defensive end, they play a style that attacks the gaps and is intended to create turnovers. They love to turn a team over and then convert those turnovers to easy baskets with all of their speed. Expect them to bait ball handlers into unwise passes and shots. They don't play real tight D on the perimeter, so there should be a fair amount of open threes available so shooters should be ready to fire away. The fact that the game is in Nova's much smaller on campus arena is am important detail. Nova very rarely loses there and may have among the best home court advantages in the entire country when playing in that little arena. While Nova is very good, the match-up is not horrible for Nebraska because Nova tends to play small (3 guards) and usually doesn't feature their bigs even when they have a distinct advantage. A team with more dominant inside guys would present a much worse match-up I suspect.

  2. That would be nice...not saying it can't happen because I think we have a favorable schedule. If we can continue to shoot the rock at a solid rate and find a way not to get killed on the boards we should be very competitive.

  3. I'm not quite sure yet what the normal tempo will be for posting HHCC standings, but if anybody has strong opinions about how they would like to receive this information, let me know. I'm fairly indifferent either way (for example, HHCC standings could be posted after every single game, once a week, every x-number of games, randomly, etc.). Since it's been 8 months since our last HHCC and I know we're all eager, I figured I'd post the first game's standings regardless of whatever tempo we set for posting results. 4. They're separate. You can get BTN Plus on BTN2Go The google search I did had the 1st item being "BTN Plus = BTN2Go" to the site I was directed. Thanks for clarifying, dimes; it's all rather cornfusing... And, with regards to 'Fever's notion. I can not wait for BTN the Ocho.

This is a really, really good team we are playing tomorrow night. Many "experts" have them in their final four. That said, we play high quality teams (and possible final four candidates) almost every night in the Big Ten. One never knows...that is why we play the game.

  8. I believe BTN+ would only have their content online; thus, synonymous with BTN2Go from seasons past. If I recall, BTN Plus is a paid (monthly/annual) subscription to content in addition to cable. And BTN2Go is an extension of BTN on the web free to BTN subscribers. Yup The difference is; you do not have to have a cable subscription to view BTN Plus content like you must have to view BTN2Go content. That means you subscribe to BTN Plus independently and receive their video stream via internet whether or not you have cable. (but you must sign up to BTN2Go (free) if you aren't already a member, in order to subscribe to BTN Plus. If you have a qualified cable carrier, you will then be able to view BTN2Go content. If you don't have cable then you cannot view BTN2go content, but you still will be able to view the BTN Plus content - once you have paid their subscription fee.) (I know, it's all very, well, CRYPTIC! )

Well, for starters, it's Villanova. Wonder how worked up the crowd will be for this Gavitt Tipoff Games opener?!

  10. It takes real talent to pick Nebraska as a winner, have a relatively high scoring pick for Nebraska, and STILL go +75

  11. Technically since they find the truffles with their noses, being blind wouldn't be that big of a handicap.

  18. Nebraska Cornhuskers (0-0) vs Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils (0-0) Date: Saturday, Nov 14th, 2015 Time: 7:00 p.m. CST Arena: Pinnacle Bank Arena Capacity: 15,000 Broadcast Information Television: None Online: BTN Plus Announcers: Michael Snow and Colton Stone Play-by-play: Kent Pavelka Expert Analysis: Jake Muhleisen Mississippi Valley State Head Coach: Andre Payne Location: Itta Bena, MS Conference: SWAC Nickname: Delta Devils Last time out: Beat NAIA Wiley College (Exhibition) Shirt not to wear: Green, Slayer Notable Former MVSU Athlete: Jerry Rice Pace: Ludicrous Speed Miles Presser Shields Presser The Skinny Did you watch any of the pressers above where Miles and Shavon were asked more about Villinova than MSVU? The Delta Devils are currently ranked near the bottom of everyone's pre-season rankings and have already dropped an exhibition game to NCAA Div II Stillman. Given that the team plays as fast as UNO, this should at least be an entertaining game the Huskers easily win. (Note: Wisconsin and Illinois lost on Friday. Please show up Huskers ) Typically Miles puts a lot of thought into his scheduling which is why I couldn't understand him scheduleing a probable RPI killer like MSVU. It took me a while until I noticed the only things the Delta Devils excelled at last year: turnover % and steals. Tonight's game should hopefully answer a question I've had during the offseason: how are we going to handle the press? It would seem like we've scheduled a beatable team to answer that question. Defensively, the Huskers should match up well with one of the few teams that is relatively smaller than them. MSVU's best player offensively is 6'4" Junior Isaac Williams. Whoever draws Williams on defense is potentially who we consider our best wing defender. Tim Miles likes having a set-number rotation of players. The Huskers currently have an 8 man rotation of Shields White Parker Webster Watson McVeigh Hammond Morrow Additionally you have Jacobson and now Tanner Borchardt as part of the "big guys who will play because of matchups and/or foul trouble" rotation with Morrow and Hammond. This is a young team so this is undoubtedly going to change during the season. Did anyone else notice Miles imploring his team to pick up the pace vs Northern St? I think we play that way to start the season and go from there. Also, did anyone notice that the end of our bench suddenly has offensive firepower? In the past it's been easy money to project the Huskers to score lower than you'd think in both close games and blowouts. This year I think it's raining Runzas. Prediction: Nebraska 92 - Miss Valley St 70 with a 100% chance of Runzas Click here to view the article
