TP and Slow Starts: Paradigm Shift
Silverbacked1 and 2 others reacted to HuskerFever for a topic
How many games did we start off last year with Walt hitting a 3? It was something like half of the games... I seem to recall Nebraska was 13-1 when WaltPfor3 got one to start a game! Of the 32 games last year, Pitchford was the first Husker to score in 15 of those 32 games. He scored two-pointers seven times, three-pointers seven times, and free throws once. If Pitchford scored first: FT: 1-0 2pt: 6-1 3pt: 5-2 Total: 12-33 points -

I have a funny feeling that the team will galvanize around TP5 & come out with a vengeance. Hopefully that translates to an early lead as well as playing from ahead in this ballgame. That will be a critical key to the start of something good, before it's way too late on 2014-15! GBR2 points -

Referencing the topic of benching TP when his emotions get out of control. They sat him down for a short time during the 2nd half vs Wisky to settle him down and have done it in other games as well. Harriman talked about it a little too in his interview on the Ticket that sometimes they do need to sit him down. It's tough to take him out of the game more than a minute or 2 though, because we are an even bigger offensive disaster without him on the floor.1 point -

Emily has only shot the ball 4 times. She needs to get more aggressive offensively if we are going to win this one. Can't understand why she doesn't understand that the team needs her to shoot and score.1 point -

What happened to the link? We were in the final two against UNLV with Banks but he did live in Las Vegas which certainly had something to do with his choice. And I think that the idea of Tark sending the mafia to speak with his family probably fits into the category of "urban legends". In other words anything attributed to Jim Rose should probably be accepted with the same amount of trust we are using for Brian Williams stories.1 point -

Boy is he talented. And you are correct, we lose a lot of games without him. But we may be a better TEAM without him, as far as better team chemistry. If we don't think the other players see what Miles allows TP to get away with?????? Can't be condusive to great team chemistry. I get what you're saying and if you want to look at chemistry look at last year's team before and after Biggs left. Miles sat him for disciplinarian reasons and ultimately dismissed him from the team. Biggs was talented but the team seemed to play better without him. Here's the thing about TP though,,,he's a guy that players on the team look up to not only because of his ability but his relentless commitment to team and effort. We're talking about a team chemistry issue based on your emotional leader going through personal issues...not a malcontent bringing down the team. I'm not sure how TP riding the bench without explanation to the team improves our team chemistry though. It certainly doesn't lead to a better team nor record.1 point

On one hand, I'm sort of glad to know there's an explanation for his frustrating behavior this year. On the other hand, I hate what the source of that frustration is. Anyone who has been close to cancer (and these days, it seems as though that includes almost everyone) knows how it can beat you up psychologically. His mother's situation was also the first thing I thought of when I heard the comment from Coach Harriman. I was hoping that wasn't it, hoping for something like girl trouble instead. From the what Miles said, it sounds like some of his teammates were also not aware of what might be going on with him, not just us wackos on evil message boards. I think his sharing this with the team is bound to be a good thing. He doesn't have to carry the burden by himself. Hopefully, this will relieve some of the pressure and he can enjoy playing basketball again. There have been many times this season when it appears as though he isn't having fun. This revelation might explain why. I hope he can play with a little less pressure now, and that basketball gives him a bit of a respite from his troubles. And wishing nothing but the best for his mother.1 point -

I sort of thought Patricia Heaton's rack being quoted on here 4 times would be the most embarrassing thing on this board this week. I was wrong. Today I come on here, and after using google and common sense for 1 minute, find that I have someone on here projecting their crap onto a player quoting the new Drake album much like 500,000 other people have done on twitter today. I'm not saying that one can't post player social media musings on here. What I'm saying is that if you're going to post an interpretation on here, especially if it's one that is negative/a guy struggling you should do so with caution and prudence. Worst case scenario is you've managed to cause something negative that didn't previously exist and that's exactly the opposite of the point of this site. I'd suggest you stop following players on social media. These guys shouldn't be taking crap from our own fans.1 point -

I don't think that is a given, it will be interesting to see how the offseason shakes out for the Jays. Well, interesting for us Jays fans, probably not for the majority of you all. Hey, Mose, how the hell are ya, buddy? Glad to see you back here. I actually think this kid is a great get for you guys. Perhaps the best player in your class and that includes Patton. I watched some film on him. I love his size. He's a very well built player for his size, the kind who can take a beating. And probably deliver one as well. But he's a pretty skilled kid, too, and fairly athletic. I've been watching a little bit on the BJU and saw the continuing pursuit of him and I was hoping you guys would land him. I think he'll be the hidden gem of your class. The curious thing is that it looks like you're still pursuing point guards. A juco kid. What's up with that? First, as I understood it, you guys were at the limit now with Thomas. And, second, it would suggest maybe not total confidence in Mo Watson, which surprises me. I knew Watson had been hurt, but is that a bigger problem than what had been previously reported? Anyway, good to see you back. Congrats to your boys on the win over Xavier. Maybe you can get another with Marquette coming to town.1 point -

And we closed to within six in spite of some crappy calls against the team you picked before the season to win it all. How the hell did we do that with players who can't shoot and a coach who doesn't know Xs and Os? Amazing. Simply amazing.-1 points
