  3. LOL.....I use this excuse at home too. Last night the wife told me to take out the garbage, Coach Miles says I don't have to. All my Husker apparel is either black or red. I suppose I better head to Husker Headquarters before tuesday's game. Better Burn the Blacks! Wait...what?! HA! Yeah, that does sound a little doesn't it?

    Izzone/shot clock

Watching the MSU/Ilinois game. Student section just did something interesting, I think. I think it was intentional anyway. And maybe this has gone on in other games across the country and I just haven't recognized it. Anyway...in the past it's been common for the crowd to count down the shot clock in a rushed manner, ahead of the true time in an attempt to force a rushed shot by the opposing team. What the Izzone just did was as the shot clock was ticking down, they began counting down but the actual clock was ahead of them. So an attempt to force a shot clock violation by possibly making the ball handler think there was more time on the clock than there really was.

  6. We have one of the best one two punch combos in the Big 10. We have a team thats right there. We can play with anyone if we actually play well. We have a big man who can break out any day with shooting the three. We have the coach. Shall I keep going? No one said it will happen, but everyone bitching that it wont is worrying. Real "fans" never say never. Hope the players don't have the same attitude as some one this board.

  7. Hskr4life...are you series? We know what this team is and it isn't a NCAA team this year. We will be lucky to make the NIT. They need to take the next step and that's scoring over 50 points on the road somehow some way.

  9. On to the next... every game is big from here on out. How do we want to respond?

  10. If Walt doesn't get off to a good start you might as well sit him. A 6'9 kid with only 1 rebound in this game is pathetic. You almost have to be running away from the ball to only get 1.

  11. Walt please don't foul and make this "game" last longer than it needs to

  12. This game was decided in first half. Now it is going to be a blow out. I am simply having trouble coming to terms with what happened to our offense. Puzzling at best...frustrating for sure. Baffled...

  13. SINCE WHEN CAN YOU ROLL AROUND ON THE FLOOR LIKE THAT AND IT ISN'T TRAVELING?

  14. Petteway should never be aloud to inbound the ball.

  15. 50% the miss the call, 25% they make the wrong call, so they get 25% of the game right.

    Izzone/shot clock

They do that. In the first half they will start the countdown from 10 when the shot clock is at like 14, then in the second half they switch and start the countdown from 10 when the clock is at like 8. It's a thing they do.

    NIT 2015: The Thread

Here's an odd thought... wouldn't reducing the number of commercials and media timeouts help speed up the game? (This message brought to you by, but may not reflect the feelings of, Husker Hoops Central.)

  20. Nebraska Cornhuskers (13-9) vs Penn St Nittany Lions (14-9) Date: Saturday, Feb 7th, 2015 Time: 3:00 p.m. CST Arena: University Park Capacity: 15,000 Broadcast Information Television: ESPNU Online: WatchESPN Announcers: Clay Matvick and Sean Harrington Satellite Radio: Sirius (Ch. 126); XM (196) Play-by-play: Kent Pavelka Expert Analysis: Matt Davison Penn St Scouting Thread Penn St Info Head Coach: Pat Chambers Location: University Park, PA Conference: B1G 10 Nickname: Nittany Lions Last time out: Lost at Maryland Typical Rotation Depth: 8-9 players Line: Penn St by 5 Fun Fact : The Nittany Lion nickname comes from local landmark Mount Nittany. They made up the name to impress some dudes from Princeton. Player to watch: DJ Newbill The 6'4" Senior leads the B1G in scoring and the Nittany Lions in assists. He consistently gets to the FT line and has yet to be held in single digit scoring. You won't shut him down but you have to try. Given he's going to generate contact can you risk guarding him with Petteway for most of the game? Is this Tai Webster's responsibility? Can you use David River's length or Benny Parker's speed without Newbill exploiting it? Do you The Skinny This is a much win for both teams on a variety of levels...both teams will be highly motivated here. The Huskers are capable of doing enough on the defensive end and it would be a shock to see a so-so Penn State defense have a big day. Can the Huskers score enough to win today? Can they generate the contact necessary to get FT attempts if their shots aren't falling? At some point today the Huskers will need someone who is not Petteway or Shields to step up. Walt seems like the obvious choice after last game but it could be anyone (or no one). The Huskers have had Penn St's number since Miles has joined the B1G, going 3-1 including the debacle last year where they gave away the game. In a game that Penn St should be favored to win, I like the Huskers to continue their improved play in February. Prediction: Nebraska 60 - Penn St 57 Click here to view the article

  21. "What if" threads are created every single year... it's human nature. But I hate seeing statements like "We should have beat Incarnate Word and Hawaii, and if we'd have done that, we'd be sitting in a much better place." People always forget about our close wins and don't ever wonder about the "what if" results of those games. We were somewhat lucky to beat Cincinnati, Loyola Marymount, and Minnesota.

  22. I'm not sure the pro scouts pay much attention to a player's college scoring average in making their decisions.

    Here's my answer.

I'd like to take this opportunity to offer the dining area at Conlee's for the players only meeting. We might not be quite as handy as Lincoln Southwest, but I promise there will be no recording devices if someone wants to call the Athletic Director a "see you next Tuesday".
