  1. "William, gather your popping corn. Let us embark on an early exit with haste- I predict that the horse and buggy traffic will be exceptionally heavy this evening."

  2. I think this shot was taken to commemorate that last magic moment just before the first Husker fan had risen to leave for the parking lot.

  4. Actually, I think that was taken from my seats. I may have been a bit higher up in the rafters, though. Norm is that why you carry a pair of tweezers in your pocket at all times? Those wooden rafters look like they could be painful.

  5. The original builidng footprint was 60 x 120 feet, and was situated from east to west in line with University Hall. The addition ran north to south and included a large auditorium. A large pipe organ was housed in the new wing. This organ was originally constructed for the Trans-Mississippi Exposition held in Omaha in 1898. It was purchased by alumni for $3,000 and donated to the University after the closing of the Exposition.

  9. I remember nap time. Had a love/hate relationship with it. Never got picked to be the "wake-up" fairy. Made me mad. Always thought I could do a good job of waking people up. The other "wake-up" fairies had poor technique. Didn't keep their elbows in. Poor release on the wand. No follow through. I just wanted to show 'em.

  12. They went to the Bahamas in August 2010. http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=204971139 Before that it was Australia in 2004. Like Auroran said, I think the rule is one trip abroad is allowed every 4 years, which means they would be able to go on on next summer (2014) at the earliest.

  13. Awesome. We are officially within the dead period, correct? How long is this period? When does it end? There's no talking to recruits during this time? Can Miles talk to his coaches/mentors/handlers while he's down at the Final 4? What are the chances of Miles hunkering down in that area, chasing down some Davis people, and then finally talking to Davis once the dead period is over? Davis is from Carolina? Transferring out of Louisiana? Final 4 in Atlanta? I don't know my geography very well but all those places are 'down South'.

  15. Yep, and the men's and women's teams have done this in the past. I believe the men's team went two or three years ago, and are only allowed to go every so often, so it will be another year or two before we can go again. Would be cool to see them go on a tour of New Zealand...

  17. Andrew Schaller asked Coach Miles what he thought Iverson being named an All-American. Miles responded (or to use the Twitter vernacular, he quote RT'd) with "Awesome!!" TimmyMac then jumped in and mentioned the rumors he'd heard about NU playing at UNM. LoboSteve then basically said, "Wait, what?"

  20. Thanks for the post Dimes! I looked up Grant Hall and UNL's site indicates it was razed in 1966. This was before my time. Does anyone know where this was located on campus?

    Big East....hardly.

Just to be clear, the American Athletic Conference is the name the leftover schools will use, like UConn. The conference with Creighton will still be named the Big East.

  23. Why is everyone jumping ship at Tulane?4 guys transfering out of the program http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ssf/2013/04/tulane_mens_basketball_program_1.html Wow. Nebraska could definitely use Josh Davis and Lotanna Nwogbo. Try to get them as a package deal!Lotanna Nwogbo: (Soph), 6'8", 255 lbs, PF/C http://www.tulanegreenwave.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/nwogbo_lotanna00.html Nwogbo's stats aren't anything to drool over, but he is a big body with D1 experience and can be coached up by Miles. Tough to take two guys when you have one spot. The only way I see miles taking a transfer that has to sit out is a special talent guy that you simply can't pass up no matter what.

  25. If he was going to dismiss Biggs, I would imagine he would be looking to offer juco point guards rather than forwards and centers. Biggs is probably getting punished but in an internal way. Like cleaning the bathrooms at Hendricks with his toothbrush. And stuff like that.1 1. I don't know any of Miles' relatives nor am I his neighbor or cable installer. I'm not offering this as an assertion of fact but as an uneducated, wild act of blank speculation. I would defer to anyone who claims any actual information.

  27. Generally when Washut or another reporter tweets something like this, it means that Miles or another coach has told them off the record "yeah, we're looking at that kid." It doesn't mean we're going to get him, but he wouldn't tweet something like that if he didn't know at least something off record.

  30. Actually they have. Just like they did last year when they decided to keep Tubby. But hey...I don't know shit. Why are you being so abrasive? If you have information you wish to share regarding Miles and Minnesota, please do so. Otherwise, his post was correct, as far as he knew, they had not been in contact. If you know something to the contrary, feel free to let us know. But this cryptic "I know something and I'm going to tell you I know something but not share any of the information" act doesn't serve any purpose. I think it's what I'd call the paradox of the insider. Insiders, of course, can provide fantastic information but, even though it's free, sometimes it comes at a cost. Depends on how they present it. I've seen insiders who just posted their stuff: "Hey, thought you guys might like to know ..." kind of thing. And if people question the assertions of an anonymous person whose information is not verifiable, those insiders have said, well, y'know, take it or leave it. But they have confidence in what they say and don't need their egos strokes about it. The other kind of insider is the guy who needs to have his ego stroked and expects everyone else to bow down and kiss his ring. He thinks he's doing the board a favor by posting and expects his posts to be regarded as the final word. The second kind of insider kills message board conversation. Look at the vast wasteland that is the basketball board over on Rivals. Used to be thriving. Many of us used to post there. Not no more. It's an empty shell of its former self and that's because you can't have a conversation with the guy who always lays the ultimate trump card.
