      BLACKJACK

Nebraska hits 21 wins for the first time since the 95-96 season

Had to grind that one out a bit, but they needed that one, big time.

    • This was a weird game. The first game felt like it was stuck in Champaign. It was maybe the worst half of basketball NU's played this year, at least on offense. Fortunately the defense made Indiana play ugly, too.
    • The second half, they eventually found their legs again and zoomed past IU.
    • I think the game was won when NU was forced to put Copeland and Palmer on the bench with foul trouble early in the second half, down 1 and turned that into a lead before they got back into the game.
    • Jordy came up big today. With the aforemoentioned JPG and Cope in foul trouble for a bit, we needed someone to step up. His rebounding was big today.
    • Roby continues to play well. He fell a rebound short of his fourth straight double-double.
    • Evan also comes up big with the game on the line, seemingly every time. He was one who stepped up in that period where the big guns were on the bench.
    • Glynn was better today. Still a couple sketchy decisions, but he hit a couple of big shots and that put back and-one was big time.
    • I think they got their butts chewed at half for all the 3's they were taking. The first half was so frustrating. 16 3's was absurd. 0 free throws was even worse. They had more free throws than 3's by double in the 2nd half and it probably what turned the tide.
    • Was this the most offensive rebounds we had all year? 19 is as many as I can remember in a long time. That was another big stat in the game.
    • The FT stats don't look great becasue they missed a few in the last minute, but they hit their first 9, I think, and that was big, too.
    • Basically, NU just dominated the last 14 minutes of the game or so. IU has some dudes.
    • I feel better now that PSU can't pass us in the standings. We could have the 4 seed locked up 22 hours from now.
    • Regardless of what happens in Happy Valley tomorrow, NU still needs that game badly on Sunday, and PSU likely will too. Should make for an intense basketball game. Crowd is gonna need to be better than they were most of the night tonight. Let's finish this thing out right!

I was watching at home and heard Bardo mention it so I rewound the DVR and it did look like Roby reached in.  Couldn't tell if he got ball or arm, but Roby was there reaching at the ball before the guy went up for the shot.

That's where being at the game is a detriment. Thanks, tjp.

Yep, I think Jordy got a little body but Roby slapped and it was right in front of the official is what it looked like to me

Okay, that makes sense. We don't have a good view of that baseline stuff from where we sit in the arena.

I just missed it but I think the bench mob was just on highly questionable. A terrible ESPN show for those of you who don’t know.

Is that the Dan LeBatard show?!

I noticed that the Bench Mob has been re-tweeted (and, basically, congratulated) by Tyrann Mathieu of the Arizona Cardinals and Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards.

ESPN has been posting the NU Bench Mob on twitter all day.

This whole thing smells to me like they *might* be setting this up as a possible segment on College Game Day - hope so.  The more attention we can get from ESPN, the better.

They *did* a segment on Nebrasketball on "Highly Questionable".  You can see the replay here:  http://www.espn.com/watch/player?id=3239846

Nebrasketball needs any and all publicity from the wonks that show a majority of college hoops.

Roby seems to always get called for cheap fouls.    He is leading the team in fouls for sure.  Against Illinois smith jumps over him and Isaiah gets called for the foul.  Tonight Jordy hammers the shooter and Isaiah gets the foul.   Those bad calls really hurt when they end up forcing him to sit at critical times.   He has a history of silly reach in fouls but he seems to be getting better at reducing them lately and now he’s just getting some bad luck with bad calls.

Another thing I’ve noticed in regards to Roby is that It seems like he is open quite a bit down low game after game and they fail to get him the ball for easy dunks as often as they could.   Tonight he was pointing to the hoop for an alley-oop during a transition down the court back to their basket and it went unnoticed.   Glynn seems to be best at finding him near the hoop , but it’s rare that  JPJ looks his way.   They seem not have the same chemistry  that he and Glynn have.

Anyway he is getting better and better and he does so many things that aren’t recorded in the stats that help us win.  If we want to make some serious noise in the big ten tourney I think  Roby  will need to continue to step it up as he has lately and  stay out of foul trouble.

Passing isn't  LPL strongest part of his game.  And hitting Roby on a timed alley-oop might be really ugly.

I don't mind it at all either.  Let the kids have fun.  My goodness.

If anyone has any beef, it should be with the Big 10 network showing it so much.  Most benches do something like this all the time.

Everyone's acting out of their minds these days, but srsly why do ppl act like Nebraska had anything to do what BTN showed on TV?! It's so weird to me. And I read that ppl wanted to punch the entire state of Nebraska over it.

People complain just to have something to complain about. I Iemember VCU's squad when they made that run in the tournament. They were just a fun team to watch and their team dynamics were on point.

Come tournament season, people will change their tone and jump on the Nebrasketball train.

    Talking about the 'Bench Mob'

    http://www.omaha.com/huskers/mens-basketball/husker-bench-mob-ups-its-profile-after-espn-highlights-team/article_8b65ae19-600b-57c9-b8b5-57b8f68c1406.html

    Quote

The bench mob has drawn some barbs on Twitter, like this one from an Indiana backer: “I’m officially rooting against Nebraska the rest of the season because of the nonsense by the bench guys.”

But then came this reply: “I imagine you would have ZERO issue with #BenchMob had IU won.”

Twitter is even providing some suggestions for the mob’s next routines, like red rover, arm wrestling and hopscotch.

So what’s next from the mob?

“We definitely have a lot of stuff in our bag,” Laws said. “Stay tuned.”
