Nebraska's 6 game winning streak broken; tournament hopes take a hit

Disappointing loss for sure. This was a game NU probably should have won. Hope they boys regroup in time for Tuesday. This is one you hope that doesn't beat ya twice.

    • Too many 3's to start the game. 6 in the first 6 minutes.
    • Leron Black is gonna plan like an All-B1G player today, evidently.
    • Roby had himself some really great plays. Twice blocked shots and gathered them in, leading to free throws for JPJ and got himself a 3 on the other.
    • One thing Jordy does really well is seal off defenders when someone is driving to the rim. Created some really good lanes for guys like Taylor and Watson to get easy lay-ups.
    • I figured we would have been ready for that back screen lob that Illinois ran so many times in the first half.
    • 16 3 pt. attempts in the first half was what I was hoping to see fro the whole game...
    • The 2-3 zone isn't something we've seen much of. Still didn't rebound out of it very well, but sparked a nice start to the 2nd half. Turned a 7 point deficit into a 5 point lead in 6 minutes.
    • Roby has become an elite shot blocker.
    • Couple of big buckets from Jordy while Illinois was trying to turn this game around.
    • Watson finally notched the score card with a big time 3!
    • Huskers with some sketchy shot selection down the stretch.
    • 10/18 from the line ain't gonna cut it.
    • 26 3's against a team that doesn't defend the rim doesn't make sense to me.
    • Tough loss. Gotta regroup vs. an Indiana team that's been playing
    • This doesn't kill the opportunity for NU to get to the dance, but it sure does make it tougher.

It seems to me one difference is this team has not peaked yet. The 2014 team was on a high to end the season; they just couldn't miss shots or FTs. But they did seem to have peaked at the highly-charged, no-sit Sunday, Wisconsin game.  Afterwards, they were one-and-done in both the B1G Tournament and NCAA.

Other than the Michigan Win, this team has yet to show that. Miles said in the post-game interview that he was about to blow up after the first 15 minutes of their final practice because they weren't working hard enough. Roby's post-game quote reinforces that.

We'll see how the team reacts after this lackluster loss. They've checked off a lot of items on their yet To-Do list this season; First Win over Michigan; First Win at the Kohl Center; First Win at 'The Barn.'

Now, Do they Want to get to the Tournament? I know Miles always emphasizes to the team what it Takes to get there!  Will they show the Determination to make it?

Here's hoping they Peak at the Right Time!

It doesn't matter the sport, basketball, football or baseball.  Screw soccer.  ;)  At season's end practice really sucks.  I'm glad NU plays tomorrow when they beat Indiana and then only a 5 day layoff till they kick the crap out of Penn State.  What concerns me is the 11 to 12 day layoff between winning the B1G Conference Tourney and their first round NCAA Tourney game.

I need to stop going on HOL when the basketball team plays. Now it’s “fire Miles” everywhere and said it’s ncaa’s or bust. The damned team was picked 13th in the league preseason.

Dont worry, our 0-7 NCAA history, but open checkbook, will get us Callipari.

No one ever wants to be happy it seems.

That place is a cesspool of degenerates.

Edited to Add: That is the same group that said Mike Riley needed more time.

Hey now. There are the Americans even here in the heartland who are football (real football, soccer) fans, like myself. It is totally legitimate, sir. <_<;)

    HOL Season So Far:

Preseason: Fire Miles because he's proven to be an abject failure. This season's patchwork lineup is a sure sign of desperation. Lucky to win 10 total. 13th place is being kind. Thank god for Rutgers.

Mid-season: Fire Miles because he's proving that with a reasonably talented team, he'll never win the games that matter. Be prepared for a 6-12 type conference season, so Moos' decision will be easy.

Feb. 20: Fire Miles because he's proving that he can't coach the most talented team Nebraska's ever had, and possibly the second-most talented team in the Big Ten. Losing on the road in the Big Ten is inexcusable. Be prepared for a four-game losing streak to end the season. Just hope that Moos has the stones to make the right call.

March 20: Fire Miles because the greatest players in NCAA history should be able to go much further than that. Coach is just lucky they got favorable matchups in the first two rounds. God, just hope that we're not stuck with this guy and his good humor for much longer.

So now nobody has to go over to HOL ever again.

The most impressive part is their ability to time travel. Bravo.
