Nebraska battles back with a 30-8 run at the Kohl Center to keep their NCAA tournament run hopes going. James Palmer with a game high 28.

Didn't really get to watch this one as close as usual, but this was a gritty, gutsy win. To be down that big and charge back to win comfortably is really remarkable. Impressive win. Hope they get rested up and go get another one on Tuesday. Big time stuff, I'm so happy right now!

Diaz took way too much grief.  If freshman Brian Jorge Diaz is on our team this year, we are a Sweet 16 caliber team. He was everything we are missing. He was a very good passer as well. I could really see Copeland benefiting from playing with Diaz.

I felt he was one of our most under rated players in the history of the program.  Not everybody plays full of piss and vingar.  Totally agrre with what you are saying Dean.

His problems with his feet plagued him. JBD was a good player, all things considered. I'd be glad to have a guy like him on the team next season. [Garza for Iowa would have fit that bill fairly well.]

During the last minute of the Wisconsin game, after the outcome was already decided, the camera showed Miles having a discussion with one of the refs - it occurred when James or Glynn was shooting free throws. Anyway, despite the fact that the game was in the bag, Miles appeared to be giving him a piece of his mind. Miles was non-demonstrative and he had a dead-pan look (especially for a  guy whose team was about to close-out a nice road win). However, it appeared to me he was adamant that he wanted to drive some point home to this official. I would have loved to had a microphone on that discussion.

Lots of good points. Hoppen played when the 5 was almost exclusively back to the basket. Happ is more agile and has better handles but Hoppen wouldn't have ever been asked (perhaps not even allowed) to develop those skills. His offensive post skills were as good as his athletic ability allowed.

He did have to be physical, and they hit him in practice with those pads football coaches would use. Also, he played before the 3 point line so double teams tended to be closer and quicker to arrive. He often scored half of the team's points.

I also used to be him in my driveway and score 40 on Kansas, including the buzzer beating game winner. ?

My all time favorite Husker cager.

I remember Moe ( Iba - not one of the stooges ), on a call in show ( later in Hoppen’s career ) talking about how Dave had become such a solid player.  He said that when Dave was a FR that Terry Smith beat the crap out of him everyday in practice.  Point being, that this made him tougher and better.  And yes, this lead to some of those scoring battles with Wayman Tisdale.  Wayman got his but so did Dave.

If someone points out that Terry and Leonard Johnson were both gone by the time big Dave stepped on campus, I’m going to feel REALLY silly and nobody will ever believe a word I say again....but I’m pretty sure I remember that correct ?

Diaz was impressive. A player like him would really help us now. But as a freshman in his 2nd game against KU, Standhardinger really exposed himself!

Sorry for stealing your joke, Norm! ?

I've been a Husker basketball fan since my youth in the 80s. I've been on here for a number of years but rarely if ever comment. Really appreciate the insight, the commentary, and especially the jokes on here! Keep up the good work everyone, enjoy this fantastic season, and GBR all the way to the tourney!

Well we will most likely have these guys again and Tim needs to get that little bit of something to put  in their minds for that next game.
