      #NOSITSUNDAY

      BEAT WISCONSIN

    Looks like a go:

'No-Sit Sunday' at Pinnacle Bank Arena

Nebraska head coach Tim Miles welcomes the crowd to the Huskers first practice of the season held at Pinnacle Bank Arena on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013. (TED KIRK/Lincoln Journal Star)

A friend of Nebraska assistant coach Chris Harriman texted Harriman on Thursday morning.

A Nebraska fan who lives in St. Louis, the friend was expressing his excitement about coming to Sunday's basketball game at Pinnacle Bank Arena between Nebraska and No. 9 Wisconsin.

He referred to it as "No-Sit Sunday."

That expression quickly stuck with Harriman, who decided to coin the phrase in anticipation of what many are saying is the biggest home game in Nebraska history.

"Why not?" Harriman said. "Let's roll with it. We need that place loud and rocking."

So, there you have it. 'No-Sit Sunday' has been declared.

Coaches want everyone standing, as much as possible, and making noise in the process.

    What's at stake?

A victory for Nebraska (18-11, 10-7 Big Ten) could clinch the program's first at-large NCAA Tournament berth since 1998. It could also clinch a first-round bye in next week's Big Ten Tournament, where the Huskers could be looking to improve their seeding in the NCAA Tournament, rather than fighting to make the tournament.

The game is sold out. Students tickets are going for as much as $50, which is basically the price of a season student ticket. Tickets for the general public are going for nearly $100 on StubHub.

And with a 60-degree day forecast, you can imagine the energy in the Railyard all afternoon for the 6:30 p.m. tip-off.

Maybe he's just heading to the next Husker athletic event?  He isn't just the basketball and football AD, he has a lot of places to be.

What Husker event could that be? A surging basketball team and he has to attend the women's rifle team competition?

I think he's meeting with the guy who's his middle man for Coach Miles so he can tell him congratulations on his behalf.

That was unbelievable. Can't believe the fans did that the entire game

Did everyone really stand the entire game?  If so, I give our fans TONS of credit!

The crowd stood the whole game, the atmosphere was unreal.

Well...to be picky I was one of only several to stand through the timeouts as well on the club side. I'll give credit because everyone stood during game action, but on the west side timeouts meant sitting (generally).

I can report that sitting in the booster section I didn't think there was anyway in hell they would stand the whole game.

But they did!  The entire game we stood.  It was amazing.

I concur.  I didn't think our club seating would stand the whole game.  I figured if people tried they would get shouted down.  And I wasn't sure I could stand the whole game.  My old back has been killing me.  But I stood the whole time and never felt a thing.  Of course, I had lots of pain killers at Gate 25 prior to the game.  That is the key when you get to be my age.

I am finally getting caught up on reading the board.

What an amazing day, perfect weather, jacked up crowd.  This is how you do college basketball!

My voice is gone, my back actually hurts from yelling so much, I didn't get home from the game until 1am and I couldn't sleep when I did, I am exhausted and guzzling coffee this morning, and I still have a splitting headache....

...and I could NOT be happier!  WOOOOO!!!!

#NOSITSUNDAY was a huge suceess, I can't wait until that becomes the standard for Nebraskaball!!  We've seen and shown we can do it, now we need to consistently repeat it!!!  That should be our standard boys and girls!!

The mainstream media has to pick it up and promote it to a certain extent.  There can be a grass root effort, but it is hard for some to understand what is going on and why.  For the students, it is sort of same-o-same-o...so I ask the student leaders, what can you do that is different and more rowdy (yet acceptable) in the student section?  To make a difference, you have to be the best of the best OR you need to do something unique.
