      4AUh8.jpg

Welcome to the pre-start of one of the most anticipated Nebraska Basketball seasons in a years. The Huskers have a remade roster to go with a brand new arena and plan on showing off both tonight.

We're here to help. Following is the definitive guide for the event put together by scouring Twitter, Facebook, Huskers.com, the Journal Star and the OWH. We hope you enjoy and would love to see your thoughts after the event.

    PARKING

Here are some great guides from the Journal Star

Lincoln stops enforcing their meters after 6 pm if you're lucky enough to find a spot downtown on a Friday.

    PREGAME

The Haymarket features over 20 bars and restaurants, which is over 20 more than were available near the Devaney Center!

Hang with the Red Zone at the N-Zone before and after the game.

    THE EVENT

    Gates Open at 6

Event Starts at 7 and runs until 8

Entrance to the event is free

In case you didn't eat before hand, the Arena will be selling $2 hot dogs

    https://twitter.com/PinnacleArena/status/382587074555027457

Here is the anticipated schedule of events, which Coach Tim Miles will be narrating throughout

    - Player/coaches introduction

    - Huskers 15 min scrimmage

    - Huskers skill competitions (dunk/3pt shooting/etc)

    - Huskers 10 min scrimmage

    Post Game

After the event the Huskers will be signing autographs and if they haven't run out, you can use the posters being given away at the start of the event.

The night is still young around 8 pm which should either put you downtown or else make it easier for people to leave if you're staying downtown.

    If you can't make it

Sports Nightly will be covering the event. You can find them on whichever AM dial you typically hear them on else you can find them on the internet

We're looking forward to the coverage from Husker Nation on this one in terms of your Tweets and news. Please use the #Nebrasketball hashtag so we can find you.

You have to be kind of computer savvy to do this, but if anyone has a program that can record streaming videos to their hard drive and upload it, please record and share this. You would have my eternal gratitude (and I'll throw in a jar of cip's salsa!)

Sitting in our seats waiting for the official event. During the Club Section reception Tim was conducting a warm up scrimmage. Man did Terran Petteway look good. When I saw a practice last year his 3 ball shot looked awkward. He made at least 3 3 pointers during the scrimmage and his shot looked very smooth. The entire team looked athletic but Terran & Pitchford looked uber athletic!! That's all for now!

After watching online, here's my quick first impressions.

I think the hype for Tai is absolutely justified!

Was not a good feeling seeing Shavon take the hard foul in the first half, but looks like he'll be fine.  Gonna have a sore hip for a few days though.

Petteway, Hawkins both showed flashes.  Biggs, too.  I think they'll come along nicely.

Vooch still needs to get stronger, but he's making improvement, IMO.

And, finally, Walter Pitchford.  Wow!  He gets my MVP award for the night.  Big things coming for that kid!

scrimmage notes (watched on huskers.com) might vary from what people saw in person.

    Shields- got hurt

    Rivers- didn't play?

Gallegos- still can shoot. will start.

Pitchford- played great. about what we all expected/hoped

Webster- Looked decent. not sure how hard he was trying at the beginning. should start at pg.

Biggs- played well. will be a solid backup.

parker- not sure he's improved enough to play much this year.

Sergej- I think he can play some minutes if we need him. He didn't look too impressive though.

Smith- Should be able to be a hustle guy that can bang down low. something we need.

Fuller- looked very good. about what i expected. He should get a lot of minutes.

Hawkins- greatly exceeded my expectations. Should see a lot of playing time after gallegos leaves.

petteway- Looked good. I think he is better at attacking the basket than shooting though.

overall, I liked what I saw except for the Shields injury. We are still a little small, but we should be able to compete with any team. The future does look bright.

Saw only the first 10 minutes of the scrimmage and then, Murphy's Law, the connection gave up on me(horrible spring storm weather over here). My immediate thoughts were that what we understand of the concept 'scrimmage' must be different from yours (or at least what i think it means). It was like a stroll in the park. I started making a note of a serious lack of offensive rebounding but then realised that none of the players were really trying hard, so I put my note book aside and just try to follow some individuals. Liked Pitchford and Petteway. Thought Tai was cruising, at least i hope so. The little of what i saw him ball handling wise was that he seemed a little lacksadaysical bringing the ball up, but then again, that might be the festival spirit of the game.

I defiantly caught the stream and thought the whole event was pretty cool. Some of my thoughts were...

    - The crowd seemed pretty good for a preseason scrimmage. I hadn't seen a game at Nebraska before but it seems like if the team wins a few games the environment could get pretty special.

    - Early on the play was errrr less than impressive, but obviously there is alot of different reasons that could be put down to. As the game went on the shooting got alot better

-Pitchford was definatly one of the standouts and should get plenty of minutes this year

-Hawkins and Fuller look like they will turn into solid contributers

-Smith was impressive to me, showed alot of promise and will be a key role player

-Shields going down was scary (even for me!), not sure how that happens in a scrimmage set up for the fans

-Webster looks as confident as I remember. I thought he passed well and made some nice moves. His shots didn't really fall tonight but otherwise I feel he showed what he will bring.

-The intensity of the whole scrimmage was still pretty slow, the offense was relatively stagnant and players seemed to settle for shots. Did I hear that they had already practiced for a couple hours before hand? that would seem to explain alot

Looking forward to the season even more now!

Ok, limited verbiage from my phone. More later. Garage parking sucks. Find something to do after the game unless you enjoy sitting in your car.

Overall, this was not a normal scrimmage and you can't judge it by normal standards. Sloppy, too many quick, perimeter shots. So, it wasn't basketball that would appeal to the basketball purist. But, I did see some things that made me very satisfied. And some not so much.

    More later.

That sucks about the stream giving out on you, but I will say that it seemed like Tai turned the intensity up quite a bit in the second half.  Once he (and really the whole team) gets up to speed with what the coaches want to do (and once we see the 1's and 2's play together) I think we'll see some pretty decent basketball out of this team.  Don't forget about half of each team was made up of walk-on's and kids you won't see much during the regular season.

Keep in mind that today was the first time they had a chance to have anything remotely resembling a practice.  We'll see a lot of improvement out of all the guys by the time the season rolls around.

Very sloppy. Dunks and jacked 3s. Long and athletic. Hard to take anything away from this horse-around session. Hopefully Shavon is okay. If you watched the guys walk about every single guy was sore as all get-out from their 3 hour practice earlier. Petteway especially. We have some nice pieces and should take a step forward this year.

Cell and slowneasy, the players were trying to play to the crowd and show off a bit. Had this been an actual scrimmage in a regular practice, it would have been more gamelike. Tai looked very good, I thought. I was not disappointed.

(I snipped out most of your comments, I think they're pretty much spot on.  But there's a couple points I wanted to address here)

The crowd was about as energetic as you'd expect from your average cinema crowd.  Don't let that fool you.  Once the season gets here, and especially during conference season, that place is going to be rocking.  Guaranteed.

Looking forward to the season even more now!

As are we all.  It's going to be a fun (and sometimes bumpy) ride this year.  But I think we have the makings of something pretty special here.

Anyway, thanks to our Kiwi friends for taking part in the fun!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
