Huskers Battle for Big Ten Title in Final Game at Devaney Center

No. 20 Nebraska clashes with No. 7 Penn State in a battle of the Big Ten's top two teams in the final women's basketball game in Bob Devaney Sports Center history on Sunday in Lincoln. Tip-off between the red-hot Huskers who have won 10 straight games, and the Lady Lions is set for 5:06 p.m.

A share of the Big Ten regular-season title is on the line for the Huskers. The Lady Lions clinched a share of the conference title last Sunday and secured the No. 1 seed in next week's Big Ten Tournament. However, Penn State suffered an 89-81 loss at Minnesota late Thursday after Nebraska escaped from Wisconsin with a dramatic 55-53, come-from-behind win hours earlier. Those two results left the door open for the Huskers to win their first Big Ten title, while closing the doors on their 37-year history in the Devaney Center.

The Nebraska women's basketball team celebrates its final game at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Sunday. The Huskers will move into the new Pinnacle Bank Arena in downtown Lincoln. Sunday's game will recognize Nebraska's 2010 Big 12 championship celebration.

As a team, Penn State is averaging a Big Ten-best 73.9 points per game as the only team managing 70 points per game in conference play. Defensively, the Lady Lions are allowing 59.8 points per game in league play, the fourth-best mark in the conference, behind Nebraska, Michigan and Michigan State. Penn State has defeated its Big Ten foes by an average of 14.1 points per game, leading the league in field goal percentage (.429), three-point field goal percentage (.385) and total rebounds (40.1 rpg). Penn State opened conference play with seven straight wins before losing at Wisconsin. The Lady Lions' only non-conference losses this season came at Connecticut (67-52) and Miami (69-65). Penn State went 13-0 at home this season but is 8-4 in true road games this year.

Nebraska will honor seniors Lindsey Moore and Meghin Williams in their final home games as Huskers. Moore will make her school-record-tying 127th start.

Nebraska trails the all-time series with Penn State 4-1, including a 1-2 mark as Big Ten opponents.

As part of its celebration of the final basketball season in the Bob Devaney Sports Center, the Nebraska Athletic Department invited fans to vote for their favorite players in Husker men's and women's basketball history. The five players chosen on the women's side included current Husker point guard Lindsey Moore, along with 2010 first-team All-American Kelsey Griffin. Karen Jennings, the 1993 Wade Trophy winner as the National Player of the Year joined 1988 Big Eight Player of the Year Maurtice Ivy and two-time WNBA All-Star Anna DeForge on the squad.

Jordan Hooper has pushed her career scoring total to 1,584 points, moving her into No. 10 on Nebraska's all-time scoring list.

Lindsey Moore is expected to make her record 127th consecutive start of her career when the Huskers face Penn State Sunday.

Lindsey Moore has set the Nebraska women's basketball record for minutes played. She increased her career total to 4,138 minutes by playing the full 40 in NU's win at Wisconsin.

Lindsey Moore claimed the 200th steal of her career in Nebraska's win at Wisconsin.

typed that to soon. we just couldn't stop them on D at all. hope they an make some noise in the tournament, but we would draw Purdue in the 3rd round, and that's another bad matchup for us.

Valiant effort but the Huskers come up short on Senior night. Lindsey got into foul trouble the first half and had to sit and PSU took full advantage of it. Our inside lack of height and depth took it's toll on us as the game wore on. Emily wound up with a double/double and it looks like Hooper is starting to get worn down having to go up against taller players all the time. Hence the reason her shot is suffering. Theriot re-aggravated her foot on the break away lay up in the first half and it slowed her down the rest of the game. Trouble was she was guarding Lucas and you all know how that came out.

I thought we got good minutes from both Laudermill and Jeffery but they need to make those shots they take close to the bucket.

We got 5 days now to get ready for the tourney. Hopefully Hooper can get re-energized a little bit and Theriot's sore foot can somehow manage not to hurt her too much to hamper her game.

Just under 11,000 in the Bob for the last game. I've been going to senior night for the past 20 some years and I think the ovation "Zeroes" got was second to none. I truly think she's been the most popular Husker of all time. We're going to miss that kid more than anyone can imagine!
