As Al McGuire would say it was "an M and M er"  A total mismatch.  OSU is so much more athletic than NU.  NU cannot be a threat to win a conference championship while Shephard is in school unless we put more athletic players around her.  NU can match up with some of B1G but not Maryland and OSU.

That being said, I like this team but even with a strong finish the NCAA committee will look at all of these blow out losses and probably observe that the Huskers are not deserving of an invitation.

NU had to give up the 3's or be torched on the drive to the basket.  You have to pick your poison against a team like OSU.  Both were deadly tonight.

So,we picked our poison and we chose both!

when i turned it on, huskers were already down by 23, so, i moved on to some other games. went on twitter to check final score and see sam mckewon tweeted something along the lines, "even if they played 10 games..." think we can all finish that statement.

i was really hoping they could show me something and keep it under 20.

I don't think Theriot's problem is related to attitude. She's not real fleet-of-foot to begin with, couple that with the well documented fact that she continues to battle lower leg/ankle problems and she's facing guards that are extremely quick and athletic.

I hate to say it,but IMO we are getting out-coached by a wide margin.Let them have wide open looks from 3-pt range and let Havers inbounds the ball. These 2 things alone have cost us probably 20+ points.

Also, does anyone work with our bigs on blocking-out? Seems like they are frequently in bad position to get a rebound.

When Smallwood (sp) left ...seemly so did our defense.  Not sure who on staff is supposed to be the defensive guru ...but....

Nebraska led the Big Ten in scoring D last year with Sample, T, Jeffrey and Cady.

It's the players. Nebraska doesn't have enough experienced, athletic perimeter defenders. You add in that Havers isn't really a "plus" defender -- although she's improved a lot -- and Shepard being a freshman and the defensive rebounding not being great, it's just a down year.

It might be a little ragged at times next year, too, integrating five freshmen. But I think, over time, those freshmen will be pretty good. And so will Simon and Cincore. Back half of next year, this is a salty D, I'd bet.

When 2 top 100 recruits leave the program after one year, that's a costly gap for a top 25 program like Nebraska. Top 10 teams can sustain those losses a little more easily.

With such a young and inexperienced team one can see that we're right in the middle of the dreaded "February Grind." It looked as though their butts were dragging at the end of this one last night. Next we've got three winnable home games on the docket to finish out the regular season. Win all of those and it could put a much needed spring in their step come post season time.
